  • How about the new look Heat?

Gotta love what Miami has done with its roster:

    C: Shaquille O'Neal/Michael Doleac
PF: Udonis Haslem/Malik Allen (Karl Malone to join later?)
    SF: Wesley Person/Rasual Butler
    SG: Eddie Jones/Dorell Wright (rookie)
    PG: Dwayne Wade/Damon Jones/Keyon Dooling

I think that puts the Heat in the running for the Eastern Conference title, probably neck-and-neck with Indiana and a shade behind Detroit.

    Not a bad summer.

Wade is a stud, but I'm reserving judgment on Shaq until we see him perform consistently. The Heat are definitely in an incredibly WEAK division, though and should coast through that part of their sked.

      The Heat Is On
      by AvengerRam_old
Gotta give a shout out to my hometown Miami Heat.

This team is really starting to look like a championship team.

      They've got all the pieces:

      The King: Shaquille O'Neal
      The Knight: Dwyane Wade
      The Advisor: Eddie Jones
      The Jester: Damon Jones
      The Soldier: Udonis Haslem

And, on the bench, you have:

Shaq foul-trouble insurance: Michael Doleac, Alonzo Mourning
The shooters: Rasual Butler, Steve Smith
      The stopper: Shandon Anderson
      The sparkplug: Keyon Dooling
And the all-around guy: Christian Laettner

This could be a big year in Heat land!

      Heat Land Shaq!!!!
      by AvengerRam_old
      Look out, Eastern Conference!

The Heat have landed the big man, and they still have up and coming star Dwayne Wade and leading scorer Eddie Jones.

A few more pieces to the puzzle (they've already added Michael Doleac to bolster their power rotation), and the Heat could be contending for the finals this year!

Heat Talking To Lakers About Shaq?
      by AvengerRam_old
There are some rumors floating around that the Heat are talking to the Lakers about Shaq. The supposed offer on the table is Brian Grant, Lamar Odom and a first round pick.

      That would be awesome!

It would give the Heat a starting 5 of:

      C: Shaq
      PF: Udonis Halsem
      SF: Caron Butler
      SG: Eddie Jones
      PG: Dwayne Wade

      Here's hoping!

Punter is hopeful Rams are final stop

As an author, punter Donnie Jones knows the elements of a good story: conflict,
irony, closing one chapter, moving on to the next, and a happy ending. He has
turned the page on a two-year stint with Miami and started fresh with the Rams.

Jones, 26, signed a five-year, $5.59 million offer in April. Even though Miami
had seven days to match, Jones said, "The first day I signed the deal, I
      cleaned my locker."

Why the rush? The Dolphins seemed to sour on Jones when new Dolphins coach Cam
Cameron hired special teams coach Steve Hoffman, whom Jones cast as "a kicking
guru or something. ... This guy wanted to change everything I've done, and what
I'd done in the past wasn't good enough. I beg to differ."

Jones led the NFL in net punting average (39.3) in 2005, when Rams coach Scott
Linehan served as the Dolphins' offensive coordinator.

"We brought him into training camp, and he won the job," Linehan said of 2005,
when Jones replaced Matt Turk. "I think the thing that impressed me the most
was his work ethic and his talent. He's got a very, very talented leg. He's
just a good young player that we had an opportunity to have here for a number
of years, as opposed to one."

In fact, the Rams haven't kept the same punter for more than two years since
moving to St. Louis. In an ironic twist, though, Jones again will replace Turk,
whom Jones called a "tremendous, supportive guy" because of their friendship in
      Miami.

"I talked to him before I signed and he said, 'There's no hard feelings. I'm
happy for you,'" Jones said. "I can't speak more for the guy. He really was a
      big help for me."

Jones launched his literary career by authoring "Nine Seconds to a
Championship," the story of the 2003 season of LSU, his alma mater. He said he
wrote the book to "look back on the game and the years you played and give back
to the fans who supported the team."

After the national championship, though, the native of Baton Rouge moved to
Seattle, which selected him in the seventh round of the 2004 draft. He bounced
between the practice squad and regular roster with a release or two thrown in
      for good measure.

But with a five-year deal, the time is right to take root in a place that Jones
called "homey." He and his wife, Aubrie, are expecting a baby in October, and
he hopes the last chapter of his career will find his family living happily
      ever after with the Rams.

"This will be my third team in four years, so I'm hoping that now I've...

Pac-Man Jones: 'I Will Be Nowhere Near Next Friday's Strip-Club Stabbing'
      by RAMMAN68
      June 21, 2007 | Onion Sports

LOS ANGELES—Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pac-Man" Jones called a press conference Tuesday in order to emphasize that he will be nowhere near a possibly fatal stabbing that will occur during a fight involving several members of his entourage and the bartender at an L.A.–area strip club this coming Friday.

"I just want people to know that I'm not going to be present at Shaker's, the club where possibly about to be deceased chump-ass bartender Darrent Wilson has been known to exchange harsh language and threats with my known associates, including kicking me and my people out of his establishment," said Jones, who is also currently being questioned by police concerning a recent shooting at an Atlanta strip club and is currently on suspension from the NFL following a melee and shooting in February at a Las Vegas strip club. "I am sorry for what is about to happen to this man, who will be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it will have had nothing to do with me."

Jones also took the opportunity to appeal once more to the NFL for leniency in a case of what he called "bad luck."

"I will be going to bed at midnight on Friday anyway, and the gentleman in question will not be knifed until about 3 a.m.," Jones added. "And about Wednesday I'm deciding to give up strip clubs anyway, since bad stuff can happen there, especially when employees act unreasonable. Just because I know the guys who will be there when this happens doesn't necessarily mean I knew it was going to happen."

The fight, which sources close to Jones say will apparently start as an argument over a woman, will involve Wilson and at least three as-yet unidentified members of Jones' group, although witnesses will not be able to place Jones at the scene. When contacted about the incident, Jones plans to promise to cooperate with authorities in their investigation and pray for Wilson's speedy recovery, if the bartender is alive at the time.

Jones stressed that no charges have yet been filed against him, saying that, although unfortunate, anticipation of the stabbing was "blowing the incident all out of proportion."

"This Saturday will mark my sixth arrest, or possibly seventh. I can't tell the future," Jones said, shaking his head in apparent anger. "Yet I won't get charged this time, either. They'll just be persecuting me for the stabbing that's going to happen because of the other stuff that already happened. Is that fair? I don't think that when Mr. Smart Mouth Darrent Wilson gets stabbed it should affect my career like that."

"You know that Darrent, the guy who's going to get tragically stabbed, has always had it in for me," Jones added. "By the time he gets put in the hospital or killed, he will have thrown...
