If the case was prosecutable then, it was prosecutable now. If it is not prosecutable now, then it was not prosecutable then. Justice once again is not served. There should be some rightfully angry people.

Re: Bryant's Case Dismissed - 14 months later?
Well, the civil case will move forward. From what I heard, there sounded like enough evidence (or at least speculation about evidence) to have reasonable doubt about Bryant's guilt -- or rather, I haven't heard enough proof to change his innocence to guilt, but then again, I'm no juror. The victim is probably better off with her case in civil court, where I believe the burden of proof is less strict, and Bryant would have better chance of being found guilty.

Angry because the public has had foisted upon it 14 months of hyper-babble. She should have known what she was in for after consultations with the prosecutions's office. Either her advisors gave her incompetent counsel or she cannot be trusted with her own counsel. Why did it take 14 months for her to say she will testify in one capacity but not the other?
No justice because either Bryant is getting away with something because the woman fears possible consequences or he is being placed in an emotional ringer for suspect motives. And if it was a matter of adultry, then Bryant's dishonesty should not reward the mistress but the wife.
She either consented or she didn't. If she didn't then he shouldn't be getting off with no consequence except a financial settlement he can afford. If she did consent then the civil suit needs to be dismissed too.

Who knows if she's a legitimate victim who has been bullied into submission or a calculating gold-digger seeking attention and a monetary settlement (which I'm sure she'll get).
The only thing we're sure of is that Kobe, who the press was trying to make into a Golden Boy of sorts, is, in reality, the kind of person who has sex with a 19 year old while his wife is home with his children.

by mxbrianLest we forget what is truly unique about this team. Here is part of it...
In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily
working when a new voice came over the intercom
asking for a carry-out at check register 4.
Kurtis was almost finished, and wanted to get some
fresh air, and decided to answer the call. As he
approached the check-out stand a distant smile
caught his eye, the new check-out girl was beautiful.
She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he was
only 22) and he fell in love.
Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited
by the punch clock to find out her name. She came
into the break room, smiled softly at him and
took her time card and punched out, then left. He
looked at her card and saw her name was Brenda.
Next day, he waited outside as she left the
supermarket, and offered her a ride home. He
looked harmless enough, and she accepted. When
he dropped her off, he asked if maybe he could see
her again, outside of work. She simply said it
wasn't possible. He pressed and she explained
she had two children and she couldn't afford a
baby-sitter, so he offered to pay for the baby-sitter.
Reluctantly she accepted his offer for a date the
following Saturday.
That Saturday night he arrived at her door only
to have her tell him that she was unable to go
with him. The baby-sitter had called and canceled.
To which Kurtis simply said, "Well, let's take
the kids with us."
She tried to explain that taking the children
was not an option, but again not taking no for
an answer, he pressed. Finally Brenda, brought
him inside to meet her children. She had an older
daughter who was just cute as a bug, Kurtis thought,
then Brenda brought out her son in a wheelchair.
He was born a paraplegic with down syndrome.
Kurtis asked Brenda, "I still don't understand why
can't the kids come with us?"
Brenda was amazed. Most men would run
away from a woman with two kids, especially if
one had disabilities, just like her first husband and
the father of her children had done.
That evening Kurtis and Brenda loaded up
the kids, went to dinner and the movies. When her
son needed anything Kurtis took care of him.
When he needed to use the rest room, he
picked him up out of his chair, took him, and
brought him back. The kids loved Kurtis. At the
end of the evening, Brenda knew this was the man
she was going to marry and spend the rest of her
life with. A year later, they were married and Kurtis
adopted both of her children and since then...-

by MOMTHE POTATO HEADS
Well, Girl Potato and Boy Potato had eyes for each other. Finally they
got married and had a little sweet potato they called "Yam." Of course,
they wanted the best for Yam. When it was time, they told her about the
facts of life.
They warned her about going out and getting half-baked, so she wouldn't
get accidentally mashed and get a bad name for herself like "Hot Potato"
and end up with a bunch of Tater Tots. Yam said not to worry, no Spud
would get her into the sack and make a rotten potato out of her!
But on the other hand, she wouldn't stay home and become a Couch Potato
either. She would get plenty of exercise so as not to be skinny like her
Shoestring cousins.
When she went off to Europe, Mr. and Mrs. Potato told Yam to watch out
for the hard boiled guys from Ireland. And the greasy guys from France
called the French Fries.
And, when she went out West, to watch out for the Indians so she wouldn't
get scalloped. Yam said she would stay on the straight and narrow and
wouldn't associate with those high-class Yukon Golds or the ones from the
other side of the tracks who advertise their trade on all the trucks that
say, "Frito Lay."
Mr. and Mrs. Potato sent Yam to Idaho P.U. (that's Potato University) so
when she graduated she'd really be in the chips. But in spite of all
they did for her, one day Yam came home and announced
she was going to marry Tom Brokaw.
Tom Brokaw! Mr. and Mrs. Potato were very upset. They told Yam she
couldn't possibly marry Tom Brokaw because he's

WAYNESBURG, Ky. --Miss America 1944 has a talent that likely has never appeared on a beauty pageant stage: She fired a handgun to shoot out a vehicle's tires and stop an intruder. Venus Ramey, 82, confronted a man on her farm in south-central Kentucky last week after she saw her dog run into a storage building where thieves had previously made off with old farm equipment.
Ramey said the man told her he would leave. "I said, 'Oh, no you won't,' and I shot their tires so they couldn't leave," Ramey said.
She had to balance on her walker as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun.
"I didn't even think twice. I just went and did it," she said. "If they'd even dared come close to me, they'd be 6 feet under by now."
Ramey then flagged down a passing motorist, who called 911.
Curtis Parrish of Ohio was charged with misdemeanor trespassing, Deputy Dan Gilliam said. The man's hometown wasn't immediately available. Three other people were questioned but were not arrested.
After winning the pageant with her singing, dancing and comedic talents, Ramey sold war bonds and her picture was adorned on a B-17 that made missions over Germany in World War II, according to the Miss America Web site.
Ramey lived in Cincinnati for several years and was instrumental in helping rejuvenate Over-the-Rhine historic buildings. She returned to Kentucky in 1990 to live on her farm.
"I'm trying to live a quiet, peaceful life and stay out of trouble, and all it is, is one thing after another," she said....-

by RamsFan16Dixon mourned by 1,200 at funeral
Associated Press
LOS ANGELES -- Basketball coach Maggie Dixon, who suddenly died last week at 28 after leading Army's women's team to its first NCAA Tournament berth, was mourned Tuesday by her cadet squad, former teammates and brother, Pittsburgh men's coach Jamie Dixon.
"She made reality out of our once-intangible dreams," Army forward Ashley Magnani told 1,200 mourners attending the funeral at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church in her childhood parish.

"Coach Dixon, our angel, we promise to make you proud," Magnani added.
Dixon died in New York on April 6 after suffering heart arrhythmia.
The 1999 University of San Diego graduate had only been at West Point since October, inheriting a team that struggled initially but won nine of its last 11 games and got to the tournament, where it lost in the first round.
She had previously been a top assistant to DePaul coach Doug Bruno after her WNBA dreams ended when she was cut by the Los Angeles Sparks after a May 2000 tryout.
Her brother Jamie, who had encouraged her to go into coaching, told mourners that he and his sister used to talk every day and she gave him inspiration.
"She saw the good in everyone. She made everyone around her a better person. She made me a better person. I've said this before -- when I grow up I want to be just like her," Jamie Dixon said.
Msgr. Robert Gallagher began the service by blessing the casket.
"Our sister has been called back to the Lord now, for some mysterious reason," he said and noted he came to the parish in 1977, only two months after Dixon was baptized, and watched her grow from "a scrawny little kid."
Citing a New Testament passage in which Jesus says, "In my father's house, there are many dwelling places," Gallagher added, "I'm not sure how many basketball courts. But you know, Maggie would take any room that the Lord would prepare for her."
A picture of Dixon's Army team was placed just below the altar.
"She reached every one of their souls," said Army athletic director Kevin Anderson.
Anderson said the last time he talked to her he was concerned she would be hired away and she promised she would not leave -- but she did.
"I was very mad last week. However, I had to consider who hired her," he said.
Acquaintances also described Dixon's life beyond basketball, including a passion for cooking and travel.
"She was splendid at loving life and passionately sharing it with all of us," said DePaul athletic director Jean Lenti Ponsetto.
