  • What do you think about this situation?

Locker stays in college. Browns pick ahead of us and "experts" say clausen will go 2 cleveland.

Before the draft we trade our 2nd round and maybe a 6th round to the Eagles in exchange for Kevin Kolb QB

With our 1st round pick we take Gerald McCoy DT (tampa takes Suh)

What do you think about Kevin Kolb?

Do you think Kolb is the solution?

Both a 2nd and a 6th too much for kolb?

If we get kolb who would u take:

clausen (browns), Suh (tampa), Sam Bradford (seattle), Russel Okung (Detroit) are all off the board

Dez Bryant WR, Gerald McCoy DT, or CJ Spiller RB (AV u persuaded me to put his name here)

    I don't like it.

From what I've seen out of Kolb, I just don't think he's worth it.

Unless the coaches really think he's the answer, I just think there's too much talent in the draft to setup a scenario like this one.

The difference between the Kansas City trade and this trade is the number of starts. Granted Shurmur has a ton of first hand knowledge on Kolb as his QB coach, but Cassell started practically a whole season compared to Kolb's 2 or 3 games. Do we have enough to give a 2nd rounder? McNabb is in his mid 30s will they even want to give him up with Mike Vick most likely leaving?

Pretty sure Kolb is regarded as the future in Philly, so I'm not sure why they'd trade him.

I dont think they would give him up, however if they did im all for kolb. I wasnt on the board last year but I was really against the matt cassel trade. Cassel was throwing to a future HOF and a perennial pro bowler in moss and welker. Kolb wasnt throwing to near that much talent. Desean is really good, avant is a rookie, and brent celek has been good but it isnt the exact same situation. The pats offense is virtually fail proof, i really believe they could plug any qb in that offense and it would succed.

In anycase if we take kolb as a trade we pick up dez, no doubt. Kolb is a really good player and we will pick him up a great playmaker.

kolb did a pretty good job earlier this year, but i don't know about that. i think we've done an excellent job of scouting so far so if the coaches think he's the guy i believe it. mcnabb has been struggling on and off for a number of years in philly, and i think they like kolb a lot and think he'll be their starter soon, so i don't know what the possibility of a trade is.

to answer the question, i would take mccoy if those guys were all gone.

Agreed. That's what I would do. That, or McCoy.

Well the thing is what are they going to do?

They wanted to re-sign Mcnabb for about 4-5 years but he wants better weapons and now he has those weapons so he will probly be re-sign for about 4 years.

So what Kolb is going to be the future and sit on the bench for another 4 years?

They're both signed for another season, so they don't have to do anything with McNabb until they see how he looks this season and next. Regardless of how he plays, he turns 33 today and I doubt the Eagles commit a long-term extension to someone of that age.

They'll likely try to resign Kolb at some point between now and the 2011 free agency period; they drafted him in the high second round to be their QB of the future, not to sit on the bench and then watch him leave via trade or free agency.

If McNabb finishes this season strong and has a good 2010, maybe they resign him for another two years and Kolb continues to sit. Maybe they allow McNabb to walk after 2010 or they find a way to deal him to a team in need of a veteran QB. Or maybe McNabb declines and the decision is made for them.

Remember, McNabb is the present of this team, but he's not the long-term future. Kolb is. I'd assume that's why they drafted him. So if anything, they're probably more likely to deal McNabb if they're going to move anyone. Was it last season or the season before when a McNabb-to-the-Bears rumor was floating around there?

I just don't see how it's a wise move for an organization to spend a second round pick on a young QB, groom him for three years in your system, and then trade him as your veteran enters his mid-30s. Then who is the Eagles' QB of the future? It certainly isn't Mike Vick.

Re: What do you think about this situation?

I actually think the Eagles will probably try to trade away McNabb (especially if they don't make the playoffs or are one and done). I think Kolb is the guy they are going into the future with. At the very least they probably won't resign McNabb when his deal is done (unless he gets them to the Super Bowl again).

Re: What do you think about this situation?

Our second round pick will be nearly a first rounder, so that has to be taken into consideration. Also, trades rarely return an equal payout to investment, so with Kolb being selected in the second round when he was drafted, I doubt a second rounder is offered for him in return.

as showerheads touched on it the eagles are basically getting that 2nd round pick they sent back and it will probably be better because our 2nd rounder will be almost a 1st

Our second rounder will be a second rounder. Whether it's the 33rd pick or the 64th, it's still in the second round. That's the case the Eagles would make, because that's the truth. And the Eagles spent a high second rounder on Kolb to begin with (36th overall in 2007). So basically they'll have drafted someone they liked, spent three years teaching him their system in preparation for him taking over, and then they'll trade him away for practically what they spent on him? I really don't think they're going to be inclined to trade him away and start anew with another QB.

Is Kolb really the long term future of the Rams franchise though? I dont see it myself right now

I don't like this situation. With as many holes to fill on this team the rams can not afford to give up draft picks for another teams mediocre backup QB. I say draft a qb with your first or second pick to eventually replace Bulger.
