  • Tiebreakers vs detroit

where are we on the tiebreakers vs the lions. Put another way, if we win next week and the lions lose, do we still pick first (or what are the scenarios)

I'm pretty sure that because we beat them, they'll jump us for the first pick next week if we beat San Francisco.

        No!

Draft order is not determined by head to head games its by strength of schedule

          If SOS is it clinched?

If it based on SOS have the Rams already clinched (given all feasible alternatives).

            Re: Tiebreakers vs detroit

From what i have read i dont think head to head is the determining factor, i think its strength of sked and if that is the case, as the prior post asked, where do we stand vs detroit in strength of sked and what are the key games next week.

For what its worth, i think detroit has a shot at home of beating chicago. I dont think the Rams will win as sf is playing to go .500. However, if the Big Boy plays, we have a shot (which at this point, in my view is NOT a good thing)

when you have the same record in the top 5 head to head is a factor.

How did the Lions lose to SF today...ugh. If they won today, it would have given us a free shot to Suh.

                  Re: Tiebreakers vs detroit

Head to head isn't a factor. If two teams have the same record, the order is determined by strength of schedule. If that does not break the tie, then it goes to records in same division or conference.

Right now, Detroit's SOS is worse than the Rams. So if the Rams and Lions shared the same win/loss record at the end of the season, the Lions would be picking first based on SOS as it stands now.

A Rams loss or a Lions win guarantees the Rams the top pick.

The rules - Head to Head not a factor

Here are the rules as listed by football.about.com

The team with the lowest winning percentage at the end of the previous season drafts first in the NFL Draft.

The rest of the teams are placed in order from lowest winning percentage to the highest.

The Super Bowl winner drafts last, even if they do not have the highest winning percentage.

The Super Bowl loser drafts next to last.

Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage.

Divisional and conference records are the next step in the tie-breaking procedure.

As a last resort, a coin toss is used to determine the order of selection for teams with the same winning percentage.

If a playoff and non-playoff team end the season with the same winning percentage, the non-playoff team selects before the playoff team regardless of strength of schedule.

Thanks nick. any idea how close it is in terms of strength of schedule and which games impact the outcome?

Of course, its nice to be in control of our own destiny.

What do you like better pickles or olives?

In the pickles category, dill vs. deli. Spears vs. whole vs. chips.

In the olives category, black vs. green. pits or no pits.
