Here Is What Matt Fairchild From Sportscrack.com Had To Say About Jimmy Clausen..

Following his announcement of his commitment 4 years ago to the University of Notre Dame at the College Football Hall of Fame, Sportscrack has learned exclusively that QB Jimmy Clausen will declare for the NFL today at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Jimmy followed in the great steps his brothers laid down in college by not winning many games in college. Of course one should blame the defense at Notre Dame for the 6 losses this season and not Jimmy who was nothing less than spectacular all season. Jimmy finished with 3722 yards passing with 28 TDs and only 4 INTs in 12 games and a completion percentage of 68%. He will go on to make millions upon millions in the NFL on a horrible franchise because in all likelihood he will be drafted in the top 10 in the NFL's April Draft.

Personally I have mixed feelings in regards to Clausen leaving and his place in history at Notre Dame. We all know he was one of the most hyped prep quarterbacks to come into the college game. Some people called him the "Lebron James of football" whether it was fair or not. After watching him play for 3 seasons I can safely say he lived up to the hype. His accuracy was deadly and in every game minus the Nevada and Washington State games he needed to be nearly perfect just to keep Notre Dame in the games and he rose up each time. It was never his fault the running game was pretty much nonexistent during Charlie Weis's tenure or the defense couldn't tackle or prevent freshman quarterbacks from tearing them up. It's surreal to see him leave with a 16-21 record while wearing the blue and gold during his 3 seasons. His record in high school was undefeated but in college all he knew was defeats.

I can't blame him for leaving early. He is ready for the NFL. True he could be a little bigger and a little more nimble (part of that is to do with the turf toe he played with all season) but the guy has the arm, accuracy and the smarts to be a successful NFL quarterback for a long time. Hopefully when he declares for the NFL he doesn't make wild proclamations of championships and MVP's are for him only. If anything playing at Notre Dame should humble you. God knows the last 3 seasons of Jimmy ball have been nothing but humbling. It would have been nice to see him play in one more game but the Notre Dame players decided to skip their bowl game once Weis was fired. Why I have no idea. You have to wonder how much Jimmy's influence had as a captain on deciding not to play one more game in his college career and go out a winner instead of a 4 game winning streak. He came in with his head high (lots of gel) and leaves with a black eye (literally). This is how I will remember Jimmy's legacy at Notre Dame.

Being a ND fan I completely agree with the whole article. When Jimmy first came in not many ND fans liked his cockiness and his bold predictions. His freshman year he got sacked and hit so many times it was hard to watch. But he gained ND fans respect by getting up every time and never complaining about the Oline (who gave up a record 56 sacks that year)

He finished his junior year playing some of the best football ever seen played at the quarterback postion at Notre Dame. Putting up ridiculous numbers in every game against good and bad competition, all with a turf toe injury with torn ligaments, which he just had surgery on. So the guy is tough and he is a hell of a quarterback. It was a shame how good he played, and how poor the defense played. I don't blame him for leaving, although I wish he hadn't.

With that being said, Jimmy Clausen will be a great QB for the Rams should they decide to take him, but how is the Rams defense? Jimmy is not the type to take over every game, he practically did that with ND, but you just can't do that in the NFL.

Notre Dame quarterbacks can't do it at the NFL. Notre Dame is one of the worst "Pro Factories" for quarterbacks in football.

Could always draft our QB of the future next year in Jake Locker. Just sign a guy like Garcia to a 2 year deal to start. Then have Locker sit behind him to learn the position for a year or even half a season.

You can't say all QB's from ND were bad.....they just have to be named Joe.

                  Re: Jimmy Clausen

I don't buy into that "Notre Dame doesnt manufacture good NFL QBs" junk. Every player, is himself. You cannot judge what a Potential NFL QB can do, based on what past positions have done at that same position.

Players end up with different coaches, teammates, and what not. Jimmy Clausen is not Brady Quinn, nor is he any other Notre Dame QB. Jimmy Clausen is Jimmy Clausen, not Brady Quinn or any other Notre Dame QB.

Clausen has all the intangibles, all the traits, skills, mechanics, intelligence to be a good NFL QB, to be a Franchise QB. And that's something the Rams need. We've had subpar, to below average QB play for the past 2 - 3 seasons. Marc Bulger is a product of a regimine that is no longer here, and he's past his time. The Rams, the Rams organization, and the Rams fans need a face for the future, they need someone to take charge of the offense with Steven Jackson. As an organization and fanbase we need to get rid of the trash that reminds us of the past ( Marc Bulger ). Jimmy Clausen would not only provide us with a face of the future, a player for the future at the QB position, but also someone to lead us into glory. He's got everything you look for in a QB, including 3 years in a Pro Style Offense ( West Coast Offense ) PRIOR to the NFL. Drafting him would minimize the learning curve quite a bit, because he has 3 years of experience in that offense, and could play right away. He's the most polished QB in the class, and one of the most polished out of the last few years.

Jimmy Clausen is my pick at #1.

Not trying to get off topic here, but I'm not sure what Bulger's done to deserve being called trash. I know some people don't like him, but jeez...

I don't mean Bulger is directly trash. He had a good run there and was one of the better QBs in the league. I like him as a person and former player. But his time here is done and it brings us reminders of the failures of the past regime.

And Jimmy Clausen is not a Franchise QB. Jimmy Clausen is not ready to step up and play in the NFL. Given time and the right mentor and coaching maybe he will be a starting QB in the NFL. He needs to stay another year at Notre Dame.

What Quarterback have you ever seen simply walk into the league and be succesful immediately?

What in Jimmy Clausen do you see as a flaw besides perhaps lack of straightline speed or ideal height (if he doesnt register as 6'3). I just dont get the Clausen dislike. The guy has all the tools and gets it done. Tough. Leader. Confident. What do you want? The guy gets very little love and i have to wonder why.
