  • New Michael Vick (source: Jim Thomas St. Louis Post Dispatch)

Beat writer Jim Thomas believes the Rams are "seriously considering" trading for Michael Vick.
The Rams wouldn't have to give up very much to get Vick and adding him would allow them to focus on filling their many other gaping holes. Vick knows Rams GM Billy Devaney from their time together in Atlanta and would bring instant excitment/controversy to a dormant Rams franchise.

On rotoworld now, I know its nothing new, or major, or earth shattering but still news from a trusted source.

Rather than post the Rotoworld re-reporting of this, why not follow the link they provide and paste the actual question and answer?

Doing so would show that Thomas never said the Rams were considering trading for Vick. Rather, he was asked what the chances were that the Rams get Vick, and he said "I believe the Rams are seriously considering it."

Regardless, as you said, this isn't exactly new news. But I think pasting the original source is more beneficial, especially since Rotoworld's report seems to be less than accurate.

I was gonna do that but I do feel Rotoworld is a strong source on its own.

      1. I don't know why many people here don't consider it one.

      2. Often the link is only a piece of the information of the whole puzzle.

      3. The Rotoworld links go to the paper, but often Rotoworld has more news than just what is in the link. Often they put a link to the paper as a reference to their "post" but have more "insider" type of info.

Either way I think this will pry some new news about Vick in the next week or 2.

As a personal rule of thumb, if an outlet has national football coverage, their Rams coverage will be deficient, poorly researched, guesswork, or apathetic. Therefore, I mistrust it.

Well, one thing is certain. WIth the McNabb and Vick rumors floating Philly is going to have to make a decision with their QB's.

The sooner they take care of that, Philly can then move forward.

PHilly played well this year but has many wholes on both sides of the ball and some aging players. They can't afford to wait around.

The Rams may be able to get Vick at a steal due to the fact that the Eagles want to support whoever they decide is the starting QB.

            This just posted on NFL.com

As I detailed when QB Michael Vick signed with the Eagles, this was always set up to be a one-year marriage, as by the very nature of the contract. The Eagles won’t be picking up the big contract option for 2010, according to sources, or at least do not plan to. They will explore trade options for Vick during the window they have to do so in March before deciding whether or not to pick up his option.
Sources close to Vick fully anticipate him playing elsewhere in 2010, and say he is intent on being a starter if at all possible. Such opportunities should arise. Clubs to keep a close eye on include Buffalo, St. Louis, Carolina, Oakland and Jacksonville. Those teams are in the market for QB help, and many have struggled to sell tickets and attract attention in recent years, with their smaller-market status.
Vick’s cause will be helped as well by the weak free-agent class of quarterbacks — Daunte Culpepper could be the class of that group, for instance — as well as an upcoming draft without prospects who seem ready to play right away. Whether teams opt to wade in heavily for Vick on the trade market remains to be seen, but if he hit the market as a free agent, league sources expect at least a half-dozen or so teams to have legitimate interest.

Vick's due 3.5 million next season.

Whatever we trade for him, he would not be a "steal" as you put it.

Not if they're as good as Boller.

                  And Vick might be.

And therein lies the problem.......Vick as a starting QB.

I think Carolina is too close to Atlanta and the scene of the crime.

So Vick's options seem to be St. Louis or Oakland if he wants to start.

All of the other teams have money tied up in a QB or would want him to be the "wildcat" QB only.

I think its a70% chance Vick will be in Horns in the near future - as of today's news.

once again, that is your opinion and has nothing to do with us actually signing him.

With picking Suh #1 - Vick will likely be traded for. We will give a 6th rounder and tell him he can start.

If theres a QB he love in the draft we could still ease him in while Vick plays stop-gab and we win some games.

Warner retiring Friday, a new coach and old Qb in Seattle, and SF offense still weak - the rams turnaround could be quick and Vick will want to play in the NFC West.

Or we could start his functional equivalent in Kyle Boller and save money and a draft pick.

Vick's only a Ram if that "franchise is obligated to do something stupid every offseason" clause that I suspect is in the team charter, actually is in the team charter.

sometimes the close mindedness on this board staggers me. What happens if the Rams bring Vick in to camp and he shows out and beats every other quarterback for the job? Rams still stupid and foolish? are will you actualy give the guy a chance to show something. Only the fool judges before he has knowledge. Ill reserve my judgment of Vick until I see him play again. Fact is, We haven't seen enough of Vick to make a good enough assessment so id like to see more of it.

Give me all the "I'm stupid" comments you like but in all honesty, what in the blue hell do we and the rams have to lose by getting a first hand observation of what the guy has. If the guy can't outrun Spags in a race and throws the ball to the guy picking his nose on the sideline every other play then perhaps obviously he doesn't have it and isn't what we're looking for.

If he gets out there with speed, a big arm, and proficiency running the offense then what?
