    Re: sdobbers First round mock

If we are gonna trade down I would also want a 3rd round pick. Regardless of that if we did trade down Claussen would be my pick then. Good mock, looks like Weatherspoon is still available, big plus with me

If the Rams are trading down and only getting one additional pick in return, I'd do it for 35, but probably not 42. Just seems like too low a return.

I was thinking about this pick for my post-Senior Bowl mock as well. Gilyard's stock could be rising after the Senior Bowl, but I'm not sure it's this high quite yet. Still, I think the spot for the second best receiver in this class behind Bryant is wide open right now.

I just dont see him going that high...I think we place more on players we like...Don't see a falcons team who needs a WHOLE lot on defense like Linemen and defensive backs...

I think Weatherspoon will slip to the 2nd. Seems like the falcons have more needs to fill rather than OLB. Especially because there linebackers are Curtis Lofton and Mike Peterson. There secondary is terrible.

either weatherspoon or graham slipping will make my day. If they both get taken ill be upset no doubt. Would ultimately force me to look at jermaine gresham as my main target at that point. Ideally we could trade down to the number 3 spot, get tampa's SECOND pick, get clausen, then in the second get weatherspoon AND graham. Id have to change my pants afterwards....

Thing is, if Weatherspoon, Graham and Gilyard do rise, it means some other top quality player will fall to the top of the second round. We are in a position to grab that guy like we did with Laurinaitis in the last draft.

However, im still not sure on passing up on Suh in favour of grabbing a QB. Id personally take the best guy available at No. 1, and thats Suh

Yeah, originally I had us giving up the #1 pick, and TB giving up the #3, #42, and a 2011 3rd rounder. But then I got rid of the 3rd rounder...and forgot to change the #42 to #35...whoops!!

Wouldn't be surprised to see the Chiefs take Berry over Okung.
Most of the mocks I've been working out I had them taking either Berry or McClain, but I guess I just felt that their line was so bad this year that they needed an upgrade to protect Cassel.

For me it was a toss up between Haden and McClain (since KC passed on him in this mock). Usually I mock Haden to the Browns though.

                    Graham as a 4-3 OLB?
Yeeeeaaah bout that, should have probably given them Kindle or Bowman.

                      Re: sdobbers First round mock

This is certainly an interesting mock, with a lot of picks going against popular opinion right now. That said, Davis going over Okung is interesting, but I don't think it will happen.

I also agree with Nick about Joe Haden not being passed up by the Browns, and I definitely think the Raiders will look in a direction other than DB with their first pick.

I like the Giants pick. I think they're getting ready to dump Rocky Bernard, and will address his absence in the first round.

I think the Pats will go defense with their first pick, but if they do go offense, I can definitely see them taking Gresham.

I think Taylor Mays switches to LB and falls out of the first round at this point. I also think Brandon Graham's stock is going way up and will definitely be picked before no. 31.

Any reason why you didn't project any other trades? Overall, a nice mock, and a refreshing one to read!

I wanted to complete this mock first...then in version 2 I'll probably add more trades, along with a round 2. Wanted to get feedback on this first though

Which teams do you think would be most interested in Graham?

ALSO...I don't know other teams needs as well as the Rams, so it's harder for me to predict trades =/

Bar-bq's 21/4/10 Three Round NFL Mock Draft
                          by Bar-bq
This one will be my final one before draft day and I've increased it to three rounds in length. I like this one a lot for St. Louis as we land starters at QB, WR and DE in each round.

Not a great deal of changes from my 15/4 mock in the top ten to fifteen, but plenty thereafter that have direct implications on our Rams!

As always, if you're not too busy with your own, don't hesitate to tell me what you think!

                          ROUND ONE
                          1. St. Louis Rams- Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
The Rams don't hesitate upon finding their Franchise signal caller.

                          2. Detroit Lions- Ndamkong Suh, DT, Nebraska
This Draft's best player falls into the lap of the Lions, much the same way as Calvin Johnson did two years ago. Look for the Lions to move on up in 2010.

                          3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
The Bucs grab some help up front. Though he's not the best DT in this class, McCoy is not far from it.

                          4. Washington Redskins- Russel Okung, OT, Oklahoma St
The Redskins protect the investment they made in McNabb by selecting the best OT available.

                          5. Kansas City Chiefs- Brian Bulaga, OT, Iowa
Kansas City continues to overhaul its OL, bringing in the versatile Bulaga to keep defenders away from Matt Cassel.

                          6. Seattle Seahawks- CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson
Surprise! The Hawks pull the trigger on Clemson's playmaker early. With the apparent depth at OT this year, it makes a lot of sense to grab Spiller early.

                          7. Cleveland Browns- Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
Best safety out in a number of years falls conveniently to a team who really needs him. Clausen will be strongly considered.

                          8. Oakland Raiders- Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
Logic has to prevail at some point. I'm betting that this is the year the Raiders actually try to start winning games.

                          9. Buffalo Bills- Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
I don't think the Bills can afford to pass on a Franchise QB. They'll look for a replacement for Jason Peters in round two.

                          10. Jacksonville Jaguars- Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
The Jaguars need DE help and whilst Morgan isn't as sexy a pick as Pierre-Paul, I believe he's the more consistent player.

                          11. Denver Broncos (f/CHI)- Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama
McLain looks like an ideal fit as a centrepiece for the Broncos defense. I thought hard about Bryant, but I highly doubt McDaniels replaces Marshall with his doppelganger.

                          12. Miami Dolphins- Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
Ferguson is 36 and suspended for the beginning of the season. Look for Williams to make a leap up draft boards as the best NT in this class.

                          13. San Francisco *****- Joe Haden, CB, Florida
The Niners could use some help in the secondary and like Berry before him, Haden slips to a team where his talents...

                          6. Seattle Seahawks- CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson

                          9. Buffalo Bills- Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame

Eight First Round Mocks: Who Can And Will Affect The Rams In Round Two
                          by Bar-bq
My approach to this offseason has been more reserved than in years past. Rather than posting a number of mocks over the course of the season, I have decided to follow the formula I laid out last season in my Five First Round Mocks thread. From here, looking at feedback on possibilities, probabilities as well as changing stock, I am planning to release two or three mocks before day one of the Draft, my last on Draft Day Eve.

I had the intention of doing six mock drafts in order to look at who can alter what the Rams could do in round two, with three mocks dedicated to Sam Bradford at #1 overall and 3 to Suh. It became apparent that this was not enough. There were still scenarios I wanted to explore and further research to be completed. This resulted in another two mock drafts, one for each candidate at #1 overall. Without saying much further, I'll post each mock as well as a list of (in my opinion) the BPA's available at the end of each round. I'll write my own comments and conclusions at the end.

What I'd like from you is a little feedback. Which Scenario is most realistic and why?

                          MOCK DRAFT ONE: NDAMUKONG SUH

                          1. St. Louis Rams- Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
                          2. Detroit Lions- Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
                          3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
                          4. Washington Redskins- Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
                          5. Kansas City Chiefs- Russel Okung, OT, Oklahoma St.
                          6. Seattle Seahawks- Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
                          7. Cleveland Browns- Jason Pierre-Paul, OLB/DE, South Florida
                          8. Oakland Raiders- Brian Bulaga, OT, Iowa
                          9. Buffalo Bills- Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
                          10. Jacksonville Jaguars- Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
                          11. Denver Broncos (f/CHI)- Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma St.
                          12. Miami Dolphins- Sergio Kindle, OLB/DE, Texas
                          13. San Francisco *****- Joe Haden, CB, Florida
                          14. Seattle Seahawks (f/DEN)- Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
                          15. New York Giants- Rolando McLain, LB, Alabama
                          16. Tennessee Titans- Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
                          17. San Fracisco ***** (f/CAR)- Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri
                          18. Pittsburgh Steelers- Mike Iupati, OT, Idaho
                          19. Atlanta Falcons- Brandon Graham, DE/OLB, Michigan
                          20. Houston Texans- CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson
                          21. Cincinnati Bengals- Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame
                          22. New England Patriots- Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma

Nick's First Round NFL Mock and Full Rams Mock Draft (3/18)
                          by Nick
Mixed some things up some more, wanted to get another mock out before my schedule got really hectic later this month. Hope you guys enjoy, and as always, constructive criticism is welcome!

                          ROUND ONE

                          1. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
-Though I prefer Suh, I believe an impressive workout and medical check at his pro day later this month will likely make Bradford the pick.

                          2. Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
-Having coached Albert Haynesworth in Tennessee, head coach Jim Schwartz understands the value of a top-flight defensive tackle.

                          3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
-The Bucs have been trying to replace Warren Sapp for years; McCoy is a disruptive penetrator who should start from Day One.

                          4. Washington Redskins: Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
-The release of Chris Samuels leaves the Redskins thin on the offensive line; count me among those not yet convinced of Jimmy Clausen being a consideration here.

                          5. Kansas City Chiefs: Brian Bulaga, OT, Iowa
-I still think Eric Berry is a strong candidate for this pick, but Kansas City also knows they’ll have to protect Matt Cassel if they expect him to be successful.

                          6. Seattle Seahawks: Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida
-With both of the top tackles off the board, Seattle may look to Pierre-Paul, who could play outside linebacker if Pete Carroll wants to switch to the 3-4.

                          7. Cleveland Browns: Eric Berry, DB, Tennessee
-Great situation for the Browns, as they need all the help they can get in their secondary. Berry could probably start anywhere for them.

                          8. Oakland Raiders: Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
-I’m not completely sold on what has become a trendy pick, but Oakland’s 2009 selections of Heyward-Bey and Michael Mitchell means anything is possible here.

                          9. Buffalo Bills: Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
-The Bills will give heavy consideration to Jimmy Clausen, but they’re in desperate need for an offensive tackle as well.

                          10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Joe Haden, CB, Florida
-Haden may have recovered from a slow combine forty by running well at his pro day; if he slips by Cleveland, the Jags will reap the benefits.

                          11. Denver Broncos (f/CHI): Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
-There is talk that character concerns could push Bryant down draft boards, but if Brandon Marshall is dealt prior to the draft, it’s hard to see Bryant getting by Denver.

                          12. Miami Dolphins: Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
-The Dolphins not only need a nose tackle of the future, but with Jason Ferguson’s suspension, they need one for the present.

                          13. San Francisco *****: Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas
                          -Kindle’s ability as a potential...

Nick's First Round and Full Rams Mock (3/11 version)
                          by Nick
It's now been a little over a week since the conclusion of the combine, so I thought it was time to pump out a new first round projection and Rams mock draft.

Tried to change things up a little bit from the last projection based on how I think some things went at the combine, but also to give a little bit of a different idea of how things could go down. Plus, it's boring to project the same thing over and over again.

In order to get these out a bit quicker, I shortened the explanations. I appreciate those who responded to past mocks; feel free to respond and ask questions if you have them about specific picks!

                          NFL DRAFT: ROUND ONE

                          1. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
-I’d prefer Suh, but I think if Bradford shows up healthy for his March 25th workout and looks impressive throwing the ball, he’ll likely be the pick.

                          2. Detroit Lions: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
-Though the Lions need to find a left tackle to protect Matthew Stafford, head coach Jim Schwartz will be frothing at the mouth if they can land Suh.

                          3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
-The Bucs are in desperate need for defensive tackle help, making it a good year to have a high pick. McCoy’s ability to penetrate has caused many to compare him to Warren Sapp.

                          4. Washington Redskins: Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
-The Redskins have an inside track on the health of Sam Bradford, but with the Sooner QB off the board, Washington will try to fill the hole left by Chris Samuels’s retirement.

                          5. Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Berry, DB, Tennessee
-A lot of people are going OT here, and I understand the logic. But I have a hard time seeing the Chiefs pass on Berry, arguably the third best prospect in this class.

                          6. Seattle Seahawks: Brian Bulaga, OT, Iowa
-Jimmy Clausen is an option here, but the Seahawks may still add someone in free agency. It may be beneficial to get a left tackle in place before grabbing their QB of the future.

                          7. Cleveland Browns: Joe Haden, CB, Florida
-Haden’s slow 40-yard dash time may scare some people off, but word is his time was slow because of his form. He’s still in the hunt for Cleveland here.

                          8. Oakland Raiders: Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida
-Greg Ellis’s release leaves a hole at defensive end, and while Matt Shaughnessy may have shown some flashes, it’ll be tough for Oakland to pass on JPP’s potential.

                          9. Buffalo Bills: Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
-The Bills could consider Jimmy Clausen here, but they’re desperate for a tackle and Trent Williams has emerged as a Top Ten possibility.

                          10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
-Having signed DE Aaron Kampman, the Jags can look...
