  • Ideal Scenario

If the rams wanted to draft clausen as the qb of the future here is what I think would be the best way we would maxamise out of doing this. The rams would firstly trade their 2010 1st for Tampas 2010 3rd, 35th and maybe another later round. With this being done I also invisige the Rams trading the 2011 1st rounder to a willing dance partner. This SHOULD be able to see us draft 4 players in the first 33players of 2010 I believe this would be a good shout. The 4 people I would pick and reasons

3rd-Jimmy Clausen (rams want a solid future qb)
Late First rounder(from 2011 trade) - Golden Tate (reliable wr to compliment clausen)
32nd - Sean Weatherspoon (solid lb and v.good senior bowl)
35th - Brandon Graham (solid de and v.good senior bowl)

In this draft we would pick up 4 instant starters that all would contribute immediatly. I know we could have Suh and I am a massive SUh fan, but that being said if what I suggested could happen and we got those 4 players I would take that over suh any day. (also the last 3 players could be interchanged regarding who is more likely to go earlier)

Not sure I would call it ideal.....

If they want Clausen it would be a good move. The trading next years 1st I am not sure why they would do that?

Also, only getting a 2nd from Tampa is kind of weak to give up the #1 overall pick.

    Go Rams

        Re: Ideal Scenario

If we traded with Tampa I could see it being:

Rams trade #1 to Bucs for #3, #42, and a late rounder.

        #3 Jimmy Clausen
#33 Top DT/OLB (This draft is deep at DT, and it seems OLB seem to slip into the 2nd usually)
        #42 Top WR

I see Graham being drafted mid-late first round. Weatherspoon also has a good chance of going in the first...if not then I would take him with the #33.

If the Rams can't get a top ten pick this year, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, as well as 1st round and third round for 2011, then I wouldn't even consider trading SUH away.

Most would say this is unreasonable, and my reply would be......"Tough Titty said the Kitty and the milk tastes good". In my opinion if a team wants SUH.....PAY UP!!!!!

Please tell me your joking. No one is worth that much. The man hasn't even played a down in the nfl and your acting like he's a god...and that he'll be the savior of this franchise.

Suh hype = out of hand.

              Re: Ideal Scenario

Just looked up trade values on NFL Draft Countdown, our first is worth 3,000

              Tampa's first is 2,200

              Their 2nd round, 35 overall is 550
and their 44th overall is 460.
That's 3,210 total for all the English majors out there.

Therefore if we fall in love with Bradford or Claussen, which might happen, I would need TB's 1st and both second rounders. If they want the best DL prospect in 20 years, they are gonna have to give a little.

                Why stop there?

I would ask for their 1st round pick for the next 7 years and insist that if we ever play against each other they will bench Suh for that game .

Oh... I would also ask for 2 cases of PBR.

But you don't understand, he is the BEST player to ever put on pads!! Honestly Suh would be an amazing player for us, but there are a lot of people on this board who are rating him way to high.

#42- CB Devin McCourty (good corner shined at senior bowl)

Seriously, the Suh hype is insane.

"If the Rams can't get a top ten pick this year, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, as well as 1st round and third round for 2011, then I wouldn't even consider trading SUH away."

                            SERIOUSLY?

6 draft picks, including two first rounders and two thirds for Suh. Insane. :-/

I wouldn't mind trading back to the Bucs for one second rounder. Draft Clausen or Bradford.

3rd-Jimmy Clausen (rams want a solid future qb)
Late First rounder(from 2011 trade) - Golden Tate (reliable wr to compliment clausen)
32nd - Sean Weatherspoon (solid lb and v.good senior bowl)
35th - Brandon Graham (solid de and v.good senior bowl)

That really is my ideal scenario. After seeing Graham at the Senior Bowl I think he will move way up in the First, kind of like Tyson Jackson did. I would freaking cream myself if we got this draft. My god.

Where do you see Jimmy Clausen going in the draft?
                                by tomahawk247
There seem to be very conflicting views as to where Clausen should be taken in the draft. Some people speculate he could fall to the second round, while earlier in the year he was projected as a top 5 pick.

My main reason for asking the question is in case the Rams do trade down out of the top 5. Im wondering if Clausen's projected value would allow the Rams to take him should they trade down.

I think Clausen will be taken in the 6-10 range. Seattle, Buffalo and Cleveland could all use a young QB, and the Rams could trade down with Cleveland and take him there at 7.

                                Suh + clausen?

Well, I agree 100% on taking Ndamukong Suh with our first pick. I've been looking around at a lot of mock drafts lately, and it seems like Clausen might slip out of the first round.

This would be amazing because we would be able to get Suh, and Clausen (franchise QB).

Also, he will not be able to preform at the scouting combine. This may cause him to drop.

I would also love for us to get Dexter McCluster. He can play WR/RB/KR/Punt return, and he is a game changer. Where do you guys think he will be drafted?

Do you guys think Clausen drops, and if so, would you take him in the 2nd?

Personally, ill probably lose popularity for this, but i wanna grab Clausen over Suh at this point. I want us to trade down a few spots and pick up another 2nd round pick (or first round if humanly possible) and grab him. I love Suh just as much as the next guy but he wont get us a passing offense....and we still don't know what we have in Carriker, Ryan has been solid as well. Long has definitely come along and will hold down the LE spot, and hopefully we can pick up another DE in the second round or through FA.

The rams will quite simply continue to fail utterly without a quarterback and this was as plain as day in our most recent failure against the *****. Shut the ***** out of the game for 3 quarters!!! Then let them poor it on in the last quarter because no doubt our defense got gassed, and the ***** were able to pull it out because they have an offense and we don't..

Give us a quarterback that can make all the throws (love him or not: Clausen can make all the throws) and we have a chance to win that ball game. I'm not knocking Null because i understand his situation, but you put a Warner (who Clausen reminds me of sort of, with a bigger arm) and you convert those field goals in the points. Broad assumption but i think its at least reasonable to say, despite our horrible o-line woes, Clausen with his quick release could have converted a lot more of those third downs with less arid throws and accidents.

Clausen probably wouldn't have fallen to the Rams, and other random thoughts
                                by AvengerRam_old
Here are my random thoughts following Day 1 of the draft:
                                • I have no regrets about not waiting for Clausen. First, I think Bradford will be a much better QB. Second, had the Rams taken Suh, I think there is a very good chance that the Vikings would have taken Clausen in round 1, rather than trading down to pick #34. If Clausen goes to Minnesota with that pick, I'll be fairly certain I'm right.
                                • So Denver has Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn and Tim Tebow? Well, if you could chop them up and surgically combine all their best parts I guess you'd have something close to John Elway, but I think doing so would violate league rules.
                                • If the Rams don't trade down, I'm torn between four players. If the Rams want an offensive playmaker, it has to be Golden Tate. If they want a defensive playmaker (and they think he could fit in a 4-3, it has to be Sergio Kindle. If they want a guy who can come in and immediately fill a significant hole, they should consider Everson Griffen. If they want someone to help protect Bradford, I'd go with Vladimir Ducasse. I'd be fine with any of those picks.
                                • I don't know if it will happen, but a trade of Osi Umenyiora to the Rams makes a lot of sense now that the Giants have Jason Pierre-Paul.
                                • One of the happiest moments for me in the first round was when C.J. Spiller went to the Bills instead of one of the Rams' divisional foes.
                                • An Eagles fan at my draft party, along with my brother (who was texting me from Arkansas during the draft), were miffed, to say the least, when the Eagles traded up, not for Earl Thomas, but for Brandon Graham. Quote from my brother "Next they're going to trade their second round pick for Kate Gossilen and three of her daughters."
                                • Brian Bulaga went to the right team. He looks like a Packer. In fact, his nickname should be "meat."
                                • At the start of the night, I announced at my party that I thought Demaryius Thomas would be selected before Dez Bryant. One of my better predictions (and I had some bad ones too).

Rams fans should, of course, get firmly behind Sam Bradford. The "fans" that irk me the most are those who - before Bradford has played a single down in the NFL - are saying he's a horrible pick, he's going to be a bust, and this is just more of the same from a bad franchise. If I was that down on the team, and so devoid of hope, I'd probably just stop following football. After all... this is supposed to be fun, right?

                                If we draft Clausen....

How many people on this site are going to say that it's simply due to Bradford's agents demanding too much money?

While Sam Bradford is almost certainly still our number one target, Kevin Demoff stated on Sunday that preliminary talks have been held with all of the four top prospects, as well as Okung and Berry. Given that we really need a quarterback, will any decision to select Clausen at number one (assuming that no trades are made) be attributed by the pro-Bradford majority to his over-rapacious representatives? Will Clausen be regarded as the "cheap" alternative?
