Why isn't Tony Scheffler's name linked to Rams yet?

It seems like he can be had for cheap (3rd rounder or so).

Other than Owen Daniels he is the cream of the potentially available TE's.

The Rams need a TE in the worst way, especially with a new QB coming in. Scheffler can be that safety net.

I would definatley use a third rounder on this young guy or Ben Watson.

Jim Thomas was asked about him this week and said he could be had for probably less than a second round pick.

It seems every interview will Billy D or Spags is focused on all our needs but TE.

Anyone have any added insight to Scheffler's future? It seems like it is 99% that he won't be a Bronco?

What I've heard echoes what you've said - Scheffler doesn't appear to be in the Broncos' plans and could be available for trade. I think he could be a capable starter for us in a West Coast offense, and I wouldn't mind seeing the Rams trade a mid round pick, maybe even as high as a third rounder, if they think he can be a big contributor. We certainly could use the upgrade at TE, because McMichael should walk as a free agent and Fells' ceiling is probably as a back-up/situational player.

He is matchup nightmare who is just in a bad situation. I would definately give up a 4th for him maybe a 3rd. No names are being linked right now, but come March 5th I am sure the Rams will be among suitors for his services.

Free agency isn't open yet so how can his name be linked to the Rams? I'd try for Owens and then make an offer for Scheffler. I don't really understand why he's out of the mix in Denver but many people seem to be out of the mix w/ McDaniels. If he were our head coach I'd really be starting to get royally ticked off. Just sayin.
