  • The Ultimate QB Poll

PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE VOTING!

I would like to guage how our members would spend their draft choices to upgrade the QB position. Note the following:
    • The poll will allow you to vote more than once, but I ask that you vote for no more than 2 options, and only vote for multiple choices that are logically possible (i.e. you can't spend the same draft pick twice).
    • I have projected the draft pick that I (a) think would be required to get each QB, and (2) realistically reflects the previously expressed views of ClanRam members regarding what they would spend on each QB.
    • The prices for Bradford and Clausen are intended to mean that they could either be selected w/the first pick or potentially in a trade down scenario (Bradford w/in top 3 and Clausen w/in top 10).
    • In Michael Vick's case, I have listed two possibilities. If you are in favor of Vick, select one, and only one, of these choices (the one that reflects the highest pick you'd trade for Vick).
    • I have left out options like Kevin Kolb, Donovan McNabb and Jason Campbell because, at this point, there is no way to kow if they will hit the market, and what they would cost.
    • "UFA" means unrestricted free agent.
    • The poll is set up to reveal who voted for each choice, so if you mess with the rules, I'll know it.

I went with Pennington and LeFevour. I think that Pennington still has a year or two left in him and can be an effective starter, allowing LeFevour to develop.

I'm still tempted by Bradford, but I still want to see how he fares at the Combine and Pro Day.

I went for Marc Bulger and Dan LeFevour. I just feel Bulger is a better option than Pennington, and i feel we would regret it if we let him go. As for LeFevour in round 3, i just feel its too good value.

        Vick and PIke

Vick I feel has best upside to win next season.

Pike has highest celing with big body, Pro qualities and a frame that isn't completely filled out.

Vick 4th rounder. I think this guy is an animal. I also like LeFevour, but I wouldn't like to wait a whole year for him too start.

Well, I guess I'm the only one who is going for Bradford. I still think that a trade with Tampa is a strong probability, and would welcome the chance to get a potential franchise QB and extra 2nd and 3rd round picks. We play our cards right that is 2 additional starters. Not a bad way to move our rebuilding efforts along.

In fact how does this scenario sound?

                  1.) S. Bradford QB Oklahome
                  2A.) J. Gresham TE Oklahoma
                  2B.) V. Ducasse RT Massachusetts
                  3A.) G. Atkins DT Georgia
                  3B.) J. McKnight RB USC
                  4.) D. Alexander WR Missouri

Also, I voted to keep Bulger around to help make as smooth as possible the transistion to Sam Bradford. I don't really want to bring anybody new off the street at this point. Mark knows the offense and could still be effective in the short term.

Before reading all the posts, I went Pennington and LeFevour. Pennington has this weird ability to get injured every other year lately. But in between injuries he's been ever solid this last few seasons, and the Dolphins aren't exactly overflowing with receivers. I also like the unique skill set that LeFevour has, and if he's given time to develop as a passer, I think he could truly be a duel-threat in the NFL.

Is he going to be at the Combine? I heard he was skipping it and only attending the Pro Day?

Anyways, I'm going with Vick (5th; although if it must be a 4th, I'd make that trade as well) and Tony Pike.

Bradford will do the interviews and get a medical evaluation. Considering he'll have a pro day, those a still pretty big evaluations he'll need to go through. Clausen is doing the same thing because of his toe.

I would think if we wanted LeFevour, then we'd want a similar dual threat guy like Vick to help teach him. If we are going to play that kind of offense we might as well move in that direction right away and have a vet.

But I voted for colt mccoy and pennington. I doubt pennington wants to play for the rams, but he'd be the best guy to start in 2010. If McCoy develops to his potential, whatever offense pennington is running mccoy could step right in to.

At this point, I'm going to say Pennington and McCoy. My take on McCoy is that his short range accuracy and running ability could be a good fit for a West Coast Offense if he can develop the right footwork and stay in the pocket more often than not. He doesn't throw the prettiest deep ball, but it's adequate and we didn't go deep all that often last season. What we need is a guy who can make those high percentage passes underneath. Pennington is the starter at the beginning of the season, and McCoy probably comes in when he's ready unless Pennington actually has us in the play-off hunt.

I went with Bulger and McCoy. I just am not a fan of Pennington at all. He has a noodle arm, is even less mobile than Bulger and as brittle as they come. I don't see how he could possibly survive playing behind our suspect line.
