  • Bears TE Greg Olsen reportedly on trade block, should Rams make offer?

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Greg Bedard, the loudest Combine chatter of late has been that Bears TE Greg Olsen is on the block.

One rumor making the rounds had Olsen going to the Pats for one of the team's three second-round picks. Olsen's skills are a poor fit for Mike Martz's offense and the Bears don't have an early-round pick this year, so the chatter makes sense on the surface. The Bears could then pursue Brandon Manumaleuna as a blocking tight end.

Id definitely give the Bears an offer for Olsen, but i doubt i would go as far as doing a straight swap involving our second rounder (#33). Id offer the high third rounder we have and see if they bite. Olsen is an established pro and if we were to bring in a rookie QB he offers a much better option at the TE position then the Rams have had in a long time

In other years I would definitely consider it, but I think our first three, and even first four picks are too important to our rebuilding process at this point. Certainly not worth our second round pick.

I'd call them and see if they'll give us Olsen for Alex Barron. The Rams get their starting tight end who is a nice target in the passing game, and the Bears get a starting offensive tackle familiar with OC Mike Martz's offense (remember, Martz was still here in 2005 when the Rams drafted Barron).

I don't know what I'd offer for him, but I'd be interested in picking him up for sure.

Nick I really like this idea. Maybe even like Barron and the Eagles 5th round pick that we have. Considering we would have used a pick on a Tight End. This would be an awesome deal.

lol if Bears took Barron for Olsen, they'd have both of the Rams OT's from the Martz' days...

This idea makes too much sense for it to happen in real life.

Actually Orlando was cut this week, why they now have the void at the tackle position.

Why give up a 2nd round tender for Barron (if someone signs him & we don't match.) To young and talented not to get picked up.

I would rather keep second maybe give up a 3rd for Olson or Scheffler.

I would stil draft a TE in the Draft D. Pitta or J. Graham both great receiving threats.

I'm not doubting the need of OT for the Bears but I would be surprised if they traded Barron for Olsen straight up.

I would LOVE IT but I doubt it.

Sorry if I am poop-canning on the party. ;)

This would be amazing! We would be able to keep all of our picks, fill a huge hole, and get a nice receiving threat.

am i the only one not so optimistic about Barron's free agency attractiveness? He still IS the NFL's leader in false starts and has a 50/50 chance of having a good game. I think we'd at least have to throw in a fifth rounder as well. That would be a fair trade.

Oh yeah the Bears would be foolish to do this as a straight up trade, but we can dream right?

                                BEARS QUIETLY SHOPPING BRIGGS

Although teams technically aren't allowed to use the franchise tag solely as a means to obtain trade value for a player who is eligible for unrestricted free agency, there's growing talk/speculation in league circles that the Chicago Bears don't plan to keep linebacker Lance Briggs, and that they applied the franchise to him for the sole purpose of facilitating a trade.

Per a league source, the Bears have talked with several teams about a trade for Briggs. The veteran outside linebacker, who has become a star in the Tampa Two defense, technically will not be under contract until he signs the one-year tender offer that the team has extended to him.

This means that Briggs can skip the entire offseason, training camp, and the preseason before reporting, while still receiving the full amount of the $7.2 million that will be guaranteed as soon as he signs it.

Bears trade Payne to Rams for draft pick
                                by rams4life88
The Chicago Bears traded safety Kevin Payne to the St. Louis Rams on Wednesday for an undisclosed 2011 draft pick.
The Bears added depth to the position through the draft by selecting Florida's Major Wright in the third round, and by trading linebacker Jamar Williams to the Carolina Panthers for safety Chris Harris on Tuesday.
Payne started 22 of 32 games over three seasons for the Bears. The fifth-round pick in 2007 notched 195 tackles, four interceptions, 10 pass break-ups and one sack with the Bears.

Would the Bears be interested in trading for Bradford during the draft?

Heard it on 101Espn the other day, and a guy commented on if the Rams and Bears would do Alshon Jeffery for Bradford.

Would either side even consider this? The Bears need a QB, and if the coach is somehow still there, he will be taking chances and have a 'win-now' mode.

                                And we need a #1.

What about dealing for LB Lance Briggs.

                                Rams send

                                1[13] and CB Jemetrius Butler

                                LB Lance Briggs and 2[37]

Briggs trade value has gone way down with his attacks on the Bears.
