  • Why not wait and draft locker??

Chances are we'll have a high pick next year and heard that 2011 will be stocked with better QB prospects. Why not draft Suh and go WR and other areas and draft Locker/eenum or ponder in 2011.

First of all, if the Rams are planning to have a high enough pick to get Locker next year, then their entire Front Office and coaching staff should be fired.

Second, look what a difference a year can make. Last year at this time, Sam Bradford looked like a franchise QB. Now he has to overcome questions regarding an injury. The same thing could happen to Locker.

Other QBs have seen their stock fall over the last year due to peformance (Jevan Snead), size concerns (Colt McCoy) and technique issues (Tim Tebow).

There are a lot of things the Rams must consider in deciding whether to take Bradford. The prospect of taking Locker in a year is not one of them.

lol. I agree Av. Really not looking for a bad season again. I am looking towards, as are the rams, the 2010 draft which is 49 days away not the 2011 draft which is over 400 days away...

Sigh....I would like for those who continue to advocate this approach to also please inform the rest of us who you want to be the new Headcoach and General Manager of the Rams as there is no way in Hades Spags and Devaney survive another 1-15 season which is what it will take to acquire the services of one Mr. Locker.

(Wow...62 words in that sentence and not one punctuation mark. Me ol' English teacher is a spinnin' in her grave most likely.)

        WHAT SAY YE?

Because of the uncertainty that is the 2010/2011 NFL season.

In my opinion Bradford (if he is healthy) versus Locker is not about winning more games in 2010. It's about winning more games in 2011.

If Bradford is healthy and proves himself on his Pro day I am all in favor of drafting him. I don't, however, think he will translate in to wins next season. We are going to need a stop gap to give him some time to develop. The problem with waiting for Locker is you run into this same problem next year... putting us even one more year behind.

I'm not saying we won't have a winning season next year but if we draft Bradford it will take a good free agency and a great draft to pull it off.

Re: Why not wait and draft locker??

Because the Rams could win a few games. Or Locker could get arrested. Or he could suffer a career-altering injury. Or some other guy looks like he's going to be the next big thing in 2012, so if we put off getting a quarterback one year, why not put it off another year?

Nobody's a sure thing in the draft, and there's no way I'd want anyone gambling this draft and next on the success of Jake Locker or any other player.

Who said in order to get Locker the Rams would have to be the worst team? The Rams have made big trades to aquire the number one pick before i.e Orlando Pace. I am on board to say I dont like any of the qb's in this draft class and say no matter how good or bad we are this upcoming season that the Rams should make a play for the best qb coming out next year. Also saying the Rams should get Locker next year isnt saying we want the Rams to lose 15 games either. I'd say it just shows that a lot of people don't see the qb's coming out this year as very good.

waiting an entire season and hope you get close to the worst record again to draft high..... lol ... We're not the Lions yet. But yeah id rather trade for vick, pick tebow in the 3rd/4th round.. Pick Suh or McCoy in the first. im not sure who's better. Trade Bulger for a 6th round pick ... lol

The fact that you said pick Tebow makes me question your sanity, that guy is gonna be terrible. Let someone else make a mistake on Tebow. I dont think my take is to wait around and draft Locker and hope we finish with the worst record. The qb's this year are average, so i dont see anything wrong with no matter how the Rams fare next year making a play for Locker.

Your right there, i'm not high on Tebow, but i'd rather take a big risk with a 4th Round pick rather than my 1st. And i bet you he'll do better than some of the qb's drafted before him (if he gets to play) ... OR he will be a bust ... 50/50

I dont see how the Locker talk is reasonable at all. I think Ryan Mallet will be a great QB in the Leauge, I honestly believe he will be better then Bradford. I am not advocating waiting for him to come out. Look at it this way, rookie QB's ussualy sit atleast one year to adjust to the NFL. So we wait till next year to get Locker now we sit him for a year, now we are a year behind on a QB. For what? Waiting for Locker who might throw 7 more TD's in a season then Bradford? Not worth it.

What has Locker done to prove he is such a great QB? All i hear is that he has the "physical tools." I honestly don't see the point of waiting for him. Whether the Rams go QB or DT i will still support them

Re: Why not wait and draft locker??

Where is all the Locker love coming from anyway? He's fast, ok. His arm is mediocre and no better then Bradfords'. His accuracy isn't as good as Bradford's IMO. He can't get to .500 in a season. Ok he didn't have a shoulder injury...is that it?

I like Locker but putting him ahead of Bradford doesn't make too much sense in my mind.

Locker is certainly not guaranteed to be where we pick and Locker could easily pull a Jevan Sneader and tank his year. Will you still want him then?

You take the guy you think will be great while he's there and don't think about the next year's draft and assume you'll still have a job...

If we get a qb this year it better not be until the third round. I think those qb's like lefevour, pike, brown have as good a shot as bradford and clausen. I think we are making a big mistake if we take a qb 1st this year. Next year's qb class seems stronger , but if we get a guy later(preferably third round) ill be happy with that.
