  • Bradford will not be at Pro Day

There will be several NFL prospects on display Tuesday at the University of Oklahoma’s pro day, but quarterback Sam Bradford will not be one of them.

Bradford is in Pensacola, Fla., preparing for the draft at the Athletes’ Performance training facility – right next door to the Andrews Institute, the rehab facility of orthopedist Dr. James Andrews, who performed the surgery on Bradford’s throwing shoulder.

Bradford, who has a chance to be the overall number one pick in the draft, will work out for NFL teams on March 25 in Norman, Okla.

Bradford has been given physicals by a number of NFL teams. When I asked him about those, he told me he has “passed with flying colors.”
Well that is a little bit of a surprise.

That's just plain absurd. Its been known for a while that he would have a private workout on March 25 and would not throw until then.

Well IF he passed with flying colors ANd he passes Despags physicals (which im sure will be rather rough and invasive..) he looks to be the pick. Very much so looking forward to seeing the kid throw and if his added muscle has affected his throwing motion at all.

The Rams have received optimistic reports on Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford’s throwing shoulder, clearing the way for his likely selection with the first pick, the Denver Post reports. That’s contingent on a solid performance by Bradford at his pro day on Monday in Norman, Okla.

Bradford’s shoulder operation, performed by famed surgeon James Andrews, wasn’t nearly as serious as the surgery Andrews performed on Drew Brees’ shoulder before he signed with the Saints, the Post report said.

Rams officials traveled to Pensacola, Fla., last week to meet with Bradford at his rehab and training site.

The Rams plan more meetings with Bradford in the coming weeks, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Bradford also will be making a "top 30" visit to Rams Park on April 12. In addition, Spagnuolo strongly hinted that the Rams will have a private workout with Bradford sometime between Monday’s pro day and the first day of the draft April 22.

Bradford sprained an AC joint in the 2009 season opener and reinjured it against Texas, ending his season. Andrews repaired torn ligaments in Bradford’s shoulder in late October.

Sporting News’ Pro Football War Room lists Bradford as its No. 1 pick in the draft, going to the Rams. Bradford also is No. 1 in the War Room Super 99 ranking of draft prospects.

"Unless something is fundamentally wrong—his throwing motion has changed, if he’s not getting nearly as much zip on the ball, if there’s something that just jumps out at you and is alarming and creates concern - I don’t think his pro day will affect that opportunity to be the No. 1 pick," former Sporting News draft analyst Todd McShay tells USA Today. "It’s the (Rams’) biggest need and the most important position."

More rumblings about Bradford not signing before the draft
                          by Nick
Take it for what it's worth. Best case scenario, we add another name to the list of those we can chuckle at if Bradford does, in fact, sign prior to the draft. But there are some interesting points in there (ie. leverage, etc)....

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- A little more than two weeks after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee, St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is set to have surgery, he said Wednesday.

After waiting more than a week so that swelling could go down and he could strengthen the knee, Bradford said he will have his ACL repaired Tuesday.

Dr. James Andrews, the same doctor who repaired Bradford's shoulder when the QB was at Oklahoma in 2009, will perform the surgery. According to Bradford, he has yet to visit with Andrews, but the noted surgeon has already reviewed the MRI of the knee and will consult with Bradford the day before the operation.

Bradford is already bracing himself for his road to recovery, especially the tough part of regaining range of motion and flexibility. He's also spent time talking to teammates who have had similar injuries.

"I'm not expecting it to be easy," Bradford said. "I know it's going to be tough, but I'm going to do everything I can to get better every day. The best thing to do is just take it day by day and try to get better every day and in the end, when I'm ready to go, I'll be ready to go."

Bradford was quick to shoot down any attempts at setting a timetable for his recovery. He said he hadn't even thought about the possibility of returning in time for at least some of the spring activities like OTAs or minicamps.

The good news for Bradford is that the injury is only to the ACL and he has a clean tear, which he acknowledged could help expedite the process.

"Everything else is intact," Bradford said. "They said everything looks really good. With that injury sometimes other things happen."

Bradford suffered the injury on Oct. 20 against Carolina when safety Mike Mitchell shoved him as he was going out of bounds. He believes his left foot appeared to get stuck in the ground and the rest of his body kept moving forward, causing the tear. Bradford said he has watched the play since and didn't see anything wrong with what Mitchell did.

Likewise, Bradford said he hoped that when Mitchell celebrated on the sideline he didn't know that Bradford was hurt but that he appreciated guard Harvey Dahl for sticking up for him after the play.

"It happened in the field of play, and I wasn't out of bounds," Bradford said. "It's not like he came over and tried to kill me, either. I think it was a clean play."

As Bradford embarks on his recovery process, he has no intention of being anywhere but around his teammates. He surprised many by attending practices last week and has been a regular in meetings since the injury. He's also served as a sounding board for fellow quarterbacks Kellen Clemens,...
