Report: Seahawks want McNabb or Kolb, no one wants Vick
Posted by Mike Florio on March 10, 2010 9:10 AM ET

During a Tuesday appearance with Mike Missanelli of 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio dropped a couple of bombs regarding the current quarterback situation in Philly.

Paolantonio said that the Seattle Seahawks have been contacting the Eagles "non-stop" regarding quarterbacks Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb. As we reported last week, the Eagles have been hearing from multiple teams regarding McNabb, but the Eagles have not yet entertained any offers.

But offers apparently will come; Paolantonio says that Seattle coach Pete Carroll wants to win right away, and in Carroll's mind that includes getting McNabb or Kolb. And Paolantonio says that he now firmly believes that McNabb will be traded by the Eagles at some point in the offseason.

Meanwhile, Paolantonio also said that the well has gone dry on Mike Vick, and that no one is interested in trading for him. "St. Louis has dried up," Paolantonio said. "Buffalo, dried up."

It appears, then, that the Eagles are banking on something occurring later in the year to create a market for Vick. Possibilities include a starting quarterback struggling in offseason drills, a torn ACL injury during red-jersey practices or the preseason, or the decision of a 40-year-old quarterback who runs a very similar offense not to return for another season come August.

Like I said before....The Seahawks can only get Marshall if they grab McNabb or Kolb.

The Eagles don't wanna give up McNabb or Kolb to Seattle since they feel they have a chance at getting Marshall.

Once the Broncos, Eagles, Seattle, and Chargers decide on what they are doing things will roll

The fact that Vick is publicly "lobbying" to play for the Rams lends creedence to this statement. Teams must be coming to their senses.

Bulger and Feeley are both on the payroll and ahead of Null on the depth chart.

I haven't read anything anywhere to support that view nor does it make much sense to me.

The Eagles are in pretty good shape WR-wise & just brought back Avant for depth.

The fact that a super-talented guy like Marshall wasn't snatched up early in the FA market indicates to me that his off-field problems are turning teams off & that would be especially true for a new HC situation like The Hags. I could see him ending up in Cincy.I don't think Marshall is the one setting the criteria, any more than Vick.

And isn't there a huge difference in approach between bringing in McNabb near the end of his career and Kolb who has been groomed for his longterm starter career like Rodgers was in GB ?

edit: It occurs to me that you meant that Philly wants to keep Seattle from getting Marshall by preventing the Hags from improving their QB situation, rather than Philly going after Marshall themselves. My bad. But I still don't think it's likely that teams think that way, esp about a team outside their division. I bet there would be some interest in Philly if Seattle wanted to give up one of their stud LBs for a QB.

Yes, your right if ESPN doesn't tell you something, it can't be true.

He is top 3 WR's in football and will require a big payday. The only reason he wasn't "snatched up early" is because the recieving team wants to sign him to a long term deal, so its kinda up to Marshall.

If you were one of the best atheltes in the NFL and franchise turned their back to you and brought in Kyle Orton, you would want out of their immidately.

McNabb hasn't won a superbowl and Philly fans are starting to push for Kolb. This is a huge difference. Favre was hurt and the Packers didn't want him to play for another team.

The eagles on on the brink of slipping with an aging coach, QB, and defense.

Marshall is an elite talent and competitor that any team in the NFL would love to have and don't be fooled by any off the field issues.

There is nothing I'd love more than for the Seahawks to spend a 1st and 2nd round pick on picking up Marshall and McNabb. IMO they need to accept that they're entering a rebuilding phase, and with or without those 2 players they're not going to be serious SB contenders. Even if they are, that wouldn't bother me since we're not going to the SB next season.

Giving up 2 of their first 3 picks would set their rebuilding back quite a bit and in 3 years all they'd have to show for it is a QB who'd probably be close to retirement and a 30 y.o. or so Marshall who may or may not be worth the trouble.

I never read or watch anything on espn. I like their sets, though, when I see the commercials. Ooooh...look at all the pretty lights....lol.

You're entitled to suppose anything you like about what is keeping Marshall on the market but unless you have some info from a reliable source about why that is happening, I think it is just that; supposition.

Again, I don't keep up with Philly sports chat, but my understanding is that McNabb is reported as being on the brink of leaving Philly every year. Nothing new there. Nor is the position that The Eagles are on the verge of a collapse particularly novel. Yet every year they seem to be contenders...except when McNabb gets hurt, that is.

There's more to BM's off field problems than wanting to be traded from Denver because of the QB situation & some of it even pre-dates the Cutler trade, ie money & the whole beating up women in public thing. Maybe he was an innocent bystander in the death of his teammate but I wonder if the teams are so sure....

Both Plaxico and TO were elite players as well. I just can't agree that their off-field and/or attitude problems haven't affected their careers.
