  • Charlie Whitehurst?

I just watched a video on nfl network and they said Charlie Whitehurst RFA would be available for a 3rd round pick. The Cardinals and Hawks are said to be interested. Could this be an option? Think of the QB talent available in this years draft in the 3rd round. Would anyone be better than Whitehurst? Philip Rivers came out and said Charlie was over due to be given a chance at starter (on another team obv).

    Any opinions on this guy?

I think it is an iffy idea. Sure you get a guy that has probably already transitioned for the under center and speed of the game of the NFL. But you also get a guy who hasnt really done anything to prove himself. But hey last time this happened the Texans got Matt Schaub.

The same thing as drafting a QB. You get a guy who hasn't yet proved what he can do in the NFL.

If we take Bradford, I would pass on Whitehurst, but if we take Suh, we can take Whitehurst.

I truly think he will be successful.

its a no thanks off me...our 3rd is practically a late 2nd...apart from Rivers bigging up his team mate, arguably in the hope that someone will give his team a relatively high draft pick....why would we?

least if you draft a QB you have someone who is younger by a few years and someone who you can watch recent game footage on in competitive games.

i suppose it would be interesting to see of the Rams try to make such a move, if not Whitehurst then another QB. It would certainly settle the debate whether they're going to draft Bradford if we aquire a starting calibre QB
