  • Rambow's 1st Mock & 1st Post

Been reading the Clan for a minute, Rams fan since the Dickerson days, anyways here is my 1st post:

    Trades:
OJ Atowe for Chicago's #3 rd. Rumor has it Chi is interedsted hopefully we can get something out of OJ before he jams.

Alex Barron for Detroits #4 rd, Det is looking to keep Stafford safe, a starting caliber, dependable OT for a 4th is pretty reasonable.

Rd 1 QB Sam Bradford, we need a franchise QB bottom line.

Rd 2 TE Jermaine Gresham, best TE in the draft and also a Bradford teammate.

Rd 3 DT Tyson Alualu, hopefully he slides to the 3rd if so we HAVE to take him.

Rd 3 (from Chi) OLB Thaddeus Gibson, big OLB stud.

Rd 4 FS Kam Chancellor Big FS who can lay the wood.

Rd 4 (from Det) RT Kyle Calloway

    Rd 5 OG Brandon Carter

Rd 5 (from Philly) RB LeGarrette Blount the talent is there, just some character issues.

      Re: Rambow's 1st Mock & 1st Post

      Welcome Rambow.

The OJ for a 3rd trade I have mixed emotions about - while I'd like more than a 3rd round pick for OJ, our FO does not seem to feel that retaining him is a top priority. He's in the prime of his career, and if they have mixed emotions about him now, I'm not sure they're going to keep him long-term. It's confusing from the outside, but if we trade him for a 3rd I guess we extricate ourselves from a delicate situation at least.

Barron for a 4th (2nd pick in the 4th at that) - I'll take that. He's only going to be a Ram for another year or two at most anyway. If we didn't have as many holes to fill as we do, I'm sure he'd already be gone.

As far as the draft goes, I like it overall. I'm a fan of picking Suh, but I can understand the reasoning behind taking Bradford. Our offense was beyond bad last year, probably the worst offense I've ever seen in the NFL (and I live just outside DC so I've seen the Redskins). It seems like taking a QB is a logical choice in that situation.

And for as much as people complain about our OL, I don't think it's that bad. Jason Brown is a stud, Jacob Bell played much better last year, and Jason Smith showed real progress last year before getting injured. Combine a solid left side of the OL to protect Bradford's blind side with S Jax, a reasonable target at TE and hopefully a healthy WR group and we could have decent offense next year IMO. Not good, mind you, but one that could hopefully at least keep our defense from playing 2/3 of the game each week.

        Re: Rambow's 1st Mock & 1st Post

Thx guys, I feel you on not wanting to lose OJ, but at this point in the game I would say a 3rd is the best we could do. I imagine OJ feels pretty disrespected and I dont blame him, I cant see him wanting to play for us anymore.

Here goes the rest: Rd 6 DE Daniel Te’o-Nesheim, decent speed for his size, not a big risk in the 6th.

7th Rd OLB Dexter Davis, good speed, good size, good conference. (pac10)

            welcome Rambow..well to posting anyway..;)

id be happy with that draft..tho i would prefer a DE to be picked higher than the 6th..unless we trade Carriker for Andre Carter (which could be a possibility) but apart from that if all those prospects panned out like they could,is only a Number 1 wideout and a DE we would have as holes..perhaps another OLB too and another CB but i think its unrealistic to think we can fill every longterm hole in this Off-season anyway.

I'd rather keep Barron than give him up for a 4th round pick.

You guy's hurt my feeling when i went off on my CRAZY draft . and so of you LIKED IT . i really thought that the 1-2 pick of LONG and Q. GROVES would really improve the rams , and i still do . BUT here is an even kieled way i tried to look at it , as i would if i was drafting for a team .

                here we go .

                1st - C.LONG - DE - gotta have it .

2ND- C. NICKS- OT- gotta have it 2. he should push starter BARRON. nice.

                3RD- D. AVERY- WR - GHI -3 . RAMS size receiver 5-10 / 6.0 , 180 , SPEED.

                4TH- C. JACKSON- CB- blockbuster trade ? BROWN's reliability ? insurance !

                5TH- J. SULLIVAN-C - ROMBERG anyone ? is FRY our C or G depth .BIGJOHN

6TH- D. JACKSON- WR - small school , big talent . a 2nd speed guy if its ok.

6TH-J. LEMAN- MLB - a bit slow , but a heart player, this could be a steal .

7TH- W. WOODYARD -S -this kid is just the same. a heart player. love em.

O.K. guy's , i tried again , i had a real tuff time taking off players i thought we should get and replacing them with more of a need thingy.

                2nd rd - i liked SWEED-WR , D. THOMAS -WR
                3RD RD- T.HILLS-T
                4TH RD- E. AINGE - QB , J. GRECO- OL
                6TH RD- M. GIBSON- OT/OG

so i hope this was more the style you guy's were looking for . GREAT DAY'S AHEAD .

                7TH- W. WOODYARD- S

Charlie Campbell over at Walterfootball published a recent mock that had the Rams going this way over the first two days:

                1. Brandon Scherff, OT/OG, Iowa
                2. Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA
                3. Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Southwest Missouri Drug Rehab Facility

I don't know about you guys, but if we could do this right now, I say bring on the Draft!!!

                by Guest
i'm not sure how far i would sway to grab a receiver this year, i really wanted one in the 2nd round, but i went with you guy's and the majority, and let it go til the 3rd. i won't go past 3rd's fot the fact, that the suplamental's place of picks starting in the 3rd. so this is what i came up with for myself. 1ST rd #13 - ADAM CARRIKER , DE/ DT . nebraska . 2ND rd #52 - JUSTIN HARRELL , DT. tennessee . 3RD rd# 82 - JASON HILL , WR . washington st. ..... i would love to do more , because i really think that my board is going in the right direction, as i see it. but the rams will do something totally differant, as seen last year. and i'm not sure what we get after the suplamental placings. so have at it and tell me how much of a crackhead i am.
