  • Cleveland Browns and Sam Bradford

Based on Bradford's pro day and the house cleaning of QB's in Cleveland, it looks like Mike Holmgren would be interested in trading up for him.

Mike Lombardi of the National Football Post doesn't believe that newly acquired Peyton Hillis is a lock to make the Browns' roster.
Lombardi questions Hillis' "blocking and production without the ball," in addition to the fullback/tailback's toughness. We'd argue that Hillis' versatility could be a nice fit in Mike Holmgren's West Coast scheme. Holmgren may envision Hillis in the same mold as longtime Packers FB William Henderson.

If we could get the 1st and 2nd for our #1 pick overall it would be considering.
I think the Browns are a serious team that will wheel and deal and take chances with a trade.

I think if Bradford comes up average or worse at his pro day, we can consider Suh or the trade....

The Browns also entice other teams to consider a trade and value the pick in both round 1 and 2.

Maybe forget Suh/Bradford and go Jason Pierre-Paul and get 2 picks after that.....

just saying., more options! Draft day can't get here soooon enuff !

Judging by their recent history, it wouldn't be surprising to make some moves. They're slowly but surely acquiring a stockpile of extra picks and may be doing so with the idea of trading some away to move up.

Personally, I wouldn't like moving out of position of the big three though.

Agreed, I'm not seeing any players that can have as big as an impact as Suh/Bradford/Mccoy. But I could be wrong, you never know who will be there at 7. But if I was Spags or Devaney I would not trade to #7.

Thickandthin, You'd say no to something like this?

        1.07- Derrick Morgan- DE
        2.01- Kyle Wilson- CB
        2.07- Demaryius Thomas- WR
        3.01- Dan LeFevour- QB
        3.28- Dexter McCluster- RB/PuntR/KR/Offensive Weapon
        4.01- Trade for Tony Scheffler-TE
        5.01- Dekoda Watson- OLB
        5.24- AJ Edds- OLB
        7.24- Will Barker- RT

Or how about this if you want to wait on a QB until next season:

        1.07- Derrick Morgan- DE
        2.01- Kyle Wilson- CB
        2.07- Demaryius Thomas- WR
        3.01- Jared Veldheer- RT
        3.28- Dexter McCluster- RB/PuntR/KR/Offensive Weapon
        4.01- Trade for Tony Scheffler-TE
        5.01- Dekoda Watson- OLB
        5.24- AJ Edds- OLB
        7.24- Brandon Carter- OG

With Jake Locker next year, that could really turn our team around.

Re: Cleveland Browns and Sam Bradford

If I'm the Rams, I'm not sure how keen I am about dropping down six spots unless the offer is pretty good. And if I'm Cleveland, while I have some ammo to move, am I really going to offer a blockbuster deal when my team has a number of need areas elsewhere?

Thus, I think it's unlikely that the Browns trade up to the top spot for Bradford. Now, if the Rams select a DT and the Lions take either a DT or OT, and Bradford is sitting there at the three-spot, then I think Cleveland gets on the phone.

            Browns interested in #1 pick??

Listening to ESPN radio and they mentioned that Browns have interest in #1 pick. Browns have the 7th pick. If we do get the 7th pick, who would we get and what else? 2nd rd pick? Clausen if available?

Like I posted in another, similar thread about this, I wouldn't want to trade out of the big three and miss out on the big guns. Perhaps if they were to move into Detroit's or Tampa Bay's spot, and then again to our spot, but that becomes a complete mess to try and accomplish.

Yea, I understand what you are saying. Only do it if it's a deal that just knocks our socks off.

Re: Browns interested in #1 pick??

If we did get their 7 pick and their 2 round pick I think the first 7 picks could look something like this:

                  1. Browns: Bradford
                  2. Detroit: Suh
                  3. Bucs: McCoy
                  4. Redskins: Clausen
                  5. Chiefs: Okung
                  6. Seagulls: Bulaga
                  7. Rams: Berry (BPA)

In the second round we could go for Tate with the first (if he is still there) and trade the browns 2 round pick for McNabb. That would setup our offence for the next 3-4 years on QB.

But I think I would also rather stick with one of the two DT's or Bradford (that is if Spags and co really thinks he is THE QB for us).

No way would I trade down to the seventh pick for one 2nd round pick.
Maybe if they throw Joe Thomas in as well, then we are talking

If Cleveland were to offer their first and second picks in 2010, as well as their first round pick in 2011, I might give it some thought. Anything less than that, and I'm not remotely interested.

yes actually I would, I feel there is only about 3 players that can help our team immediately (Bradford/Suh/Mccoy), moving to 7 just takes them all away from us.

                            totally agree.

I thought, Holmgren is supposed to be the Be all End all on QBs , and if HE wants Bradford maybe that helps solidify the fact that we should take him.

Remember guys, we could pick Bradford at #1 and not announce the trade until Cleveland is on the clock.

Things are getting more and more interesting.

If this happened, would you prefer Clausen at #7, and then BPA from there out, or would you go BPA-D at #7 (D Morgan, Berry, Haden, JPP), and try and grab Colt later?...

The Cleveland Browns haven't abandoned hope of landing quarterback Sam Bradford in a trade.

The Browns believe they have a good chance to trade for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford, The MMQB's Peter King reported Thursday.
ESPN's Adam Schefter also suggested on Mike & Mike Thursday morning that the Eagles could deal Bradford to the Browns.

Cleveland is unwilling to part with both 2015 first-round picks in addition to their 2016 first-rounder for the opportunity to draft Oregon's Marcus Mariota at No. 2 overall, according to King as well as The Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.

Browns coach Mike Pettine acknowledged to NFL Media's Andrea Kremer that opinions are mixed on Mariota inside team headquarters.

Bradford represents a cheaper alternative, as the cost would presumably be just one of those picks.

NFL Media's Charley Casserly reported last month that the Browns had offered a first-round pick for Bradford, only to watch the Rams flip their quarterback to the Eagles instead.

The Browns' interest in Bradford is no surprise, but the former No. 1 overall pick isn't without warts. Still recovering from his second ACL surgery in two years, Bradford is resistant to the idea of signing a contract extension in Cleveland, per multiple reports.

Should Bradford end up on the shores of Lake Erie, the Eagles are expected to package the Browns' first-round pick with available veterans such as Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks in an attempt to move up to the Titans' No. 2 spot for Mariota.

We have reached the height of silly season, just hours from the start of the 2015 NFL Draft. It's one thing for phone calls to be placed and scenarios to be plotted out. It's quite another for all of the pieces to fall into place, igniting multiple blockbuster trades.

Just some thought .. about the draft
                                by bigtiger737
As many of us, I have been reading the threads.. Go Suh, GO Sam... Sam hates the rams..but we don't have proof.., were gonna trade for Big ben, were gonna trade with the browns, etc etc..

I think perhaps there is a realization we should all atleast distantly see.. Bradford or Suh.. they will most likely be a large improvement over what we have.. I started off in the SUh corner hard and strong.. but Bradford is growing on me not because of any arguements on the board but because people who have real experience in the NFL are being sold too.. Infact the only thing making me nervous about bradford is him not wanting to sign before the draft, .. and that has nothing to do with him but everything to do with his agent.. they are about money and that is what takes these kids into training camp hold outs not the players,(we'll bernie wanting him kinda makes me vote suh but that's just bias).. Anyway at this point I guess I really want to just ask all of us fans.. can we really get upset with either pick?? either way I embrace who we pick as a ram and if I can embrace hill, kennedy, mad mike's project trung.. How could I not embrace either of these..
2nd... Has anyone else wondered perhaps if the browns and steelers may be talking about the trades to help us not get bradford? If I was them I would making trade talk because it would be the only angle there is left to play in the sam sweepstakes.. anyone who watches football at all right now knows we are 90% bradford bound.. so I say ignore the rumers if you want bradford so the media gets no feedback and the news die's as quickly as it is fabricated..
