    Jason McKie to visit Rams
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 18, 2010 12:06 PM ET
The Rams are looking to improve a running game that was already pretty good.

We told you the team will meet with Willie Parker Thursday; former Bears fullback Jason McKie is also expected to hit town, according to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.

McKie was cut recently by the Bears, but is a good fit for St. Louis' power rushing attack. Mike Karney is the team's only fullback on the roster.

    Jason McKie is 5'11, 247lbs.

I think he would do a good job spelling Mike Karney and giving him some rest, so Karney can stay fresh.

if its true and we sign him..im glad the Rams are seeing like they did with the Centre position that they need a viable back up at the FB position..plenty of teams undervalue the Centre & FB positions,im glad we seem to not be one of those, atleast not now anyway.
i was thinking about using one of our 7th rounders on one..but if they can get a vet on the cheap, im all for it.

        Agreed.

When Karney was out last year due to injuries, it was obvious that our run game suffered from it. We had less explosion, and less productivity.

Karney is a huge factor in the run game, and we need to keep him healthy.

He was released on the 16th and the Rams get him in on the 18th, thats a fast move for us, maybe this is one of the guys that fit into the plan.

When Rams use a two back set, I would rather have another RB in the backfield w/SJ.
A CJ Spiller, J. Best or C. Johnson type runner.

Compitition at the FB spot during traing camp. Which one is the better blocker & can catch out of the backfield.

              1 question

Why the heck do we need a back up full back?

incase we lose the 1 FB we have through injury..most teams that have a powerful running game have 2 FB`s on the roster. apart from QB and along with TE and Centre.. its the most complicated position to play on Offense..simply plugging a body in during the season is not a wise move for a team who puts so much emphasis on running the ball as we do.

i read your post but are we seriously gunna keep another full back on the roster just cuz Karney needs rest now and then.

He is a huge factor on the team but sometimes Jackson can go singleback or we go split back we dont always have to go with an I and Karney.

Its not in case Karney needs rest, its in case he gets injured. McKie probably wouldnt be on the game day roster if he signed, its only there as a back up option.

Fullback really is an underrated position. Hope he gets signed as Karney could go down again.

It is, especially in a an offence which is as run heavy as the Rams is. And especially with teams putting 8 in the box against Jackson, we need Karney to take on one of those guys!!

He could play in ST too.

As long as he is only on the practice squad its good but should not be part of the 53 man roster
