  • Question for those who don't want the Rams to take Bradford?

Who did you want the Rams to draft with the #2 overall pick LAST YEAR?

I was thinking about this the other day, and I thought it might be interesting to see where everybody stood on this subject? The 2 players I remember people wanting the Rams to take last year, other than Jason Smith, were Aaron Curry and Mark Sanchez. Essentially I'm curious if people who wanted Sanchez last year now don't want Bradford, or if people who wanted Curry tend to lean defense and now want Suh.

It's a similar deal for me this year. I thought The Rams really needed an OT before looking for a QB. Couldn't choose between either J. Smith or Monroe;I didn't have a strong feeling which would be better & I still don't.

Never thought a LB for a 4-3 defense was valuable/impactful enough to take that high. Still don't.If there'd been a stud DE, it would have been a harder choice in my mind.

It wasn't a matter of favoring a strong defense over a strong offense; it was a question of which parts of a strong offense or defense do you value most when you can pick only one.

I wanted Aaron Curry, and thank god we didnt take him. By the looks of right now, it doesn't look good for him.

I am actually thrilled we chose Jason Smith!

        I wanted Eugene Monroe

And you probably werent here last year for the draft but it wasnt sanchez vs. curry it was Jason Smith/ Eugene Monroe vs. Curry not many wanted Sanchez cuz we had faith in Bulger switching to the WCO.

But for the most part it was Curry vs. Smith at the end of march thats when i switched over to smith because Monroe did not have that nasty demeanor and we were really trying to get bigger more physical

        Similar Battle this season:

        Aaron Curry = Ndamukong Suh

Like Suh, Curry was the Best Player in his draft. The rams had a need at OLB but wasnt a major need like Suh at DT its not a major need. So many people wanted Curry just because he was a "cant miss" and the "safest pick"

        Jason Smith = Sam Bradford

The Best Player at there respected position but wernt considered the best at the end of the college football season (Both became the best in workouts). Both fill in a Major need. Both positions are must needs when re-building a franchise.

OK, well on to this years draft....I really dont care if they take a DT:ram: or a QB:helmet: but I think we need to do something quick. I would hate for steven jackson to have to move elsewhere he is a great and rare talent, who doesnt get credit because of guys like AP or Chris Johnson but he is just as good if not better. I was thinking...and let me make it clear i was just thinking...I know people will hate me for this but it was a tought and just that. How about suh with 1st and a 2nd rd QB we can develop like a tebow, that even gives us room to trade for a QB who will stay healthy and help develop the rook!!!

Im not a hater of that idea...although I'd like it a lot better if that rook had someone better to learn from.

I cringe at the thought of barron teaching j.smith.....

I really wanted Monroe, I thought he would be incredible because he outplayed and foced Brandon Albert (K.C LT) to play guard in collage... but monroe like smith had injury problems...

this year I don't think the rams can screw up, m leaning towards bradford but would be almost as happy with house of spears suh

I discovered and registered for this site during the coaching search last year, and I'm sure I was checking this site during last year's draft, but don't remember how much. I didn't remember which site it was, but I knew I had run across a vocal contingent of fans who wanted the Rams to draft Sanchez. Now that I think of it, I think it was at Bernie's Press Box @ STLToday. Still, I was curious whether or not the preference to not take Bradford came down to the belief that the high pick shouldn't be used on a QB, or if it's a matter of which QB. I was curious if there were any Sanchez over Bradford people here, but thus far there have not in this sample.

For the record, I was initially very excited about Suh, as I believe that the DT position is important for a defense, but I believe that the QB is a greater need and necessity, thus leading me to prefer Bradford, as long as he check out OK. I won't be upset if we ended up with Suh though.

i was genuinely torn last year ... i knew Marc didn't have a great year and Sanchez looked pretty good. If it wasnt for Marc's huge contract, i would have wanted Sanchez. But although Sanchez is doing alright with the jets, i think we made the smart move with Jason Smith, Tahts why im leaning with Suh ... The Smart Choice .... not necessarily the right one though

I wanted Curry and still think J.Smith could turn out to be the 3rd or 4th best OT out of that draft. J. Smith was considered raw by many with good potential and I thought that raw was to big of a risk to take with the #2 pick. I never thought Lau would fall to us in the second and even then I thought Curry would be more durable and a better LB. I was wrong I would not trade Lau for Curry even up right now. I like Lau better even though I think Curry still could become a good LB. Last year was different IMO by the last game of the season there was no clear cut favorite for the top position. By the last game this season there was a clear cut favorite for the top position it was Suh. But since the end of the season when no more games where left to be played the typical buildup to the draft took over and people started proclaiming other people then Suh. I remember last year Oher was considered to be the first OT pick near the end of the college season and then he started a free fall. He wound up being perhaps the best rookie OT in the NFL last year. He was the first OT to be projected as the top OT then Andre Smith, Monroe, and finally J. Smith. With four OT's deemed to be the first or second overall selection I did not see how any of them could have standout qualities that deem them that high of a pick.

I'm still waiting for Smith to prove to me he can do something other than get kicked in the head. But I guess the Rams saw a raw talent they were willing to develop, and would take him, even with the #2 overall pick.

As for this year, Tebow will be the best QB out of this draft. Tebow's attitude dictates what is possible, I really believe that. The question in my mind is, will the Rams once again take a prospect with HUGE potential, and wait for him to develop? I guess it all depends on if the Rams see what all Gator nation sees.

To all that have bashed curry what do u guys think of james (not even gonna attempt his last name) I think he was a pretty good value there.
I picked j. Smith cause we defently needed a ol to replace pace.
And I to think tebow should come to ram nation cause he brings a lot to the game just from a attitude stand point he is so drivin to better himself and win and we have been lacking that.

I didn't want Sanchez and still don't. The only other player I liked at the #2 pick last year was Curry. But we needed an OT so badly. Smith looks like he's gonna be a good one...
