    The Optimistic Lamb's Mock Draft

    Version 2.0


    1.1 Sam Bradford- QB
    In my mind, Suh is still the better player. But Bradford has all the tools, smarts, and character to become a franchise QB. The draft is very deep in DT and a steal at #33 is very possible.

    2.1 Brain Price- DT
    Price is big, explosive, and a little nasty. Plays with a lot of passion and has to be double teamed. Has lots in common with Dorrel Scott. Supposedly a top 15 pick, but in reality the 2rd tier DT's are all tied for 2nd and it comes down to what is a "fit". Most of the teams at the bottom of the draft are 3-4 defenses while Price is strictly a 4-3. He just has to slide by the Colts and Saints to be home free.

    3.1 Dorin Dickerson- WR
    Dickerson is 6'2, 226lbs, runs a 4.4, and can catch deep balls. What is he doing playing TE? He looks to me like a big WR like Dez Bryant, or Demaryius Thomas.

    4.1 AJ Edds- OLB
    Edds isn't a sexy pick like Sean Weatherspoon, but he is a big LB at 246lbs who excels in coverage. He is polished, smart, durable, and rarely makes mistakes. Could play WLB or SLB. To me, he fits right in with Voborra and Laurinaitis.

    5.1 Myron Lewis- CB/FS
    A CB projected to be a FS in the NFL because of his lack of speed. Some debate over what round Lewis belongs in, I've seen him as high as the 3rd and as low as the 6th. But Spags seems to have a place for these "tweeners" and after letting go of Jonathon Wade, we could use some depth in the backfield. We'll see how the situation develops on draft day.

    5.32 Chris Marinelli- OT
    A blue collar O-lineman who has the respect of his team. Is very tough and durable and should be a very good back up with potential.

    6.1 John Conner- FB
    At 241lbs, Conner plays mean old school football. Is very good in pass protection and will sacrifice himself to take out LB's on the run. Seems to play with reckless abandon and grit. Was a walk on who became team captain. Is also a special teams star.

    7.1 Jeromy Miles- FS
    Another big fast DB. 6'2, 210lbs, runs a 4.5. Nothing more than a good depth pick.

    7.19 Trindon Holliday- KR
    A star kick returner for LSU. One of the fastest guys in the draft, why not pick him if he's available?

    7.47 Who cares? There isn't an 8th round for a reason...

    My biggest concern is that you don't have us taking a TE anywhere. If we draft Bradford, we need to get him a reliable TE. Also, I think that we would be better served to grad a DE atop round 2 instead of a DT. And about our compensation pick, I think Marques Colston would disagree with you. Other than that I think it's a solid mock.

      ummmmm I wouldn't get a DT, we have Robbins now he'll do pretty well. If Gresham was there at 33, I WOULD NOT hesitate on picking him, if he wasn't there go for a DE or trade down. I would be happy with this draft but not excited.

          nothing at all, I'm just saying we should go Bradford, TE, and if we HAVE to get a DT go for one in the 3rd. as stated many times this is a DEEP class for DT's.

            Brian Price would be a great selection at #33, but I don't expect he'll still be there at that point.

            Not a fan of Dickerson. Too much of a 'tweener for my taste.

            I like Edds.

              Its also a deep class of TE's. We already have a 6-4 272lbs TE in Daniel Fells who scored many, if not the majority of our touchdowns. Pair him with Bradford and you will probably see his production go up. While at DT we have 1 starter in Ryan, a stop gap player in Robbins, and a backup in Scott. You want a top 15 DT in the second or a banged up Gresham to back up Fells?

                Gresham AND Bradford missed the 09 season, does that make Bradford banged up too?

                  I'd go with a DT over a TE too, but I think you are exaggerating Fells production. The dude scored 3 TDs. I know we didn't score many TDs last year but I really hope that 3 doesn't qualify as a "majority"

                    Yeah. Fells scored 3 touchdowns. That's not very good.

                    Plus, I guess we can also point out the fact that he dropped alot of catches as well. Fells is no more than a solid #2 TE at this point.

                      We aren't really lacking in the DT position. True, it's not a great corps, but it's not very weak either.


                      Also, you state that Brian Price is similar to Dorrell Scott. Why would we pick Price then? Price at #33, while Scott was picked in the 4th round?

                          First, why would we want to draft Brian Price? In your opinion, he is similar to Dorrell Scott, a "back up". Why would we waste our second round pick on a guy similar to to a guy we have who is a back up?


                          Carriker shouldn't be a 4-3DT? It may not be his best position to play, but its the cloest thing to a 3-4DE...


                          And the D-Line is not the only group responsible for the "27th against the run" stat.

                            First of all, whether you agree with him or not it was not a 'blatant lie.' Right or wrong, he's just expressing an opinion different from yours.

                            I think what people here are saying is that while our DT unit isn't great, we have something there. At TE and DE, on the other hand, we have basically nothing.

                              Lock it up. Franchise QB. All that need to be said about this guy has already been said.
                              Player Comparison: Matt Schaub, QB, Texans

                              2. Rob Gronkowski, TE, Arizona
                              Gronk proved he is healthy and ready to go at his pro day. I like him more than gresham because he is a much better blocker, has better hands, and has a much more polished game overall and is just as big of a threat in the redzone.
                              Player Comparison: Jason Witten, TE, Cowboys

                              3. Jermaine Cunningham, DE, Florida
                              Cunningham is an experienced pass rusher. He is alot more polished than any Florida pass rusher who has come out in the recent years. Like Florida ends of the past he is extremely athletic, but he just is a more polished player with better technique. He will immediately share snaps at RE with James Hall.
                              Player Comparison: Jacob Ford, DE, Titans

                              4. Anthony Dixon, RB, Mississippi State
                              He is a good blocker, and good receiver, and a powerful runner. Sylvester Croom our RB coach was his head coach and knows alot about this kid. He could be a great fit backing up S-Jax. It is no secret we coveted Shaun Green this guy reminds me alot of him.

                              5. Kyle Calloway, OT, Iowa
                              Prototypical RT with a great program pedigree. Powerfull with good size at 6'7 320. Polished run blocker and pass blocker. He could be the RT of the future.
                              Player Comparison: Marc Colombo, OT, Cowboys

                              5. Rodrick Muckelroy, OLB, Texas
                              Smart athletic physical linebacker. He has top notch intangibles to go along with his sideline to sideline range. He is a prototypical WLB prospect, but he definately needs some seasoning especially when it comes to using his hands.
                              Player Comparison: Michael Boley, WLB, Giants

                              6. Robert Johnson, FS, Utah
                              Johnson is centerfielder type of safety with great speed. The Rams need additional safety depth especially if the loose OJ and Dahl has to start.
                              Player Comparison: Quentin Demps, FS, Eagles

                              7. Seyi Ajirotutu, WR, Fresno State
                              Big Physical receiver who is goo blocker on the outside. Ajirotutu is great in jump ball and redzone situations. He could definately use some seasoning. Could he take a roster spot from Burton, Foster, or Kent? Who knows
                              Player Comparison: Devin Aromishidou., WR, Bears

                              7. Travis Ivey, DT, Maryland
                              Devaney and Co wanted to add some size up from Ivey is a mountain at 6'4 341. Struggled with injuries throughout his career, but he isn't lacking in size or talent.

                              1. Sam Bradford, QB - At the beginning of the process, I was definitely a Suh guy. I still think Suh may be the BPA. But the positional value difference and the glaring need for a QB puts Bradford over the top. His pro day just sealed the deal.

                              2. (33rd pick) Brian Price, DT - Thought to be a 1st round pick but his stock is slipping, which would be a good thing for the Rams after passing on the DT's at the top of the draft. Is a very tough kid that the Rams can put at the 3-technique next to Ryan. Playmaker with 23.5 TFL's and 7 sacks last year.

                              3. (65th pick) Joe McKnight, RB - I thought of going with Jahvid Best at #33, and I still think that would be a great pick. But if we pass on an RB in the 2nd, that need must be addressed quickly. McKnight is very versatile and could line up in the slot as well as serve as S-Jax's back-up.

                              4. (99th pick) Dekoda Watson, LB - May not fit Spags' mold as he might not be quite big enough, weighing 226 at his pro day. But, he ran a 4.4 at said pro day and can be the playmaking, weakside OLB

                              5. (132nd pick) Kyle Calloway, T - Rams need to draft a T to groom for the inevitable departure of Alex Barron after the 2010 season, preferably a RT type as Jason Smith slides over to LT. If Calloway is gone, go with Sam Young. Both have great size for the right side.

                              5. (155th pick) Tony Moeaki, TE - With Fells slated to start, Rams could definitely use some help for competition/depth. This draft is stocked with similar size/speed pass-catching types, I think Moeaki will be the sleeper to fall this far.

                              6. (170th pick) Danario Alexander, WR - At this point in the draft, it's worth the gamble on the injury proned, but talented WR that would give the Rams WR corps a different sized weapon.

                              7. Jeffrey Fitzgerald, DE

                              7. (2nd most irrelevant) Cody Grimm, SS

                              The Rams need to have a good draft this year. Obviously a team that has picked 2nd, 2nd, and 1st the last 3 years has a ton of holes that can't be filled with one draft. Based on this year, I'd expect the top targets in the 2011 draft will be WR, DE, and perhaps OLB and secondary.

                              This is just a quickie mock, so I did not include a free agent section.


                              One major event: We trade our 1st round to Tampa Bay in return for their 1st, 2nd, and 4th round pick.



                              Round 1:                               Sam Bradford [6'4, 225lbs.] Oklahoma (QB) *VIA Trade*

                              Analysis: Bradford has all the tools to succeed and dominate in the NFL, and he has tremendous potential. New regimes mean new quarterbacks. Bradford will be the new face of our franchise.




                              Round 2: Jermaine Gresham [6'6, 260lbs.] Oklahoma (TE)

                              Analysis: We finally get the big, endzone target we've desperately needed for quite some time. Has played with Bradford too, so there is already some timing between them.




                              Round 2: Brandon Ghee [6'0, 190lbs.] Wake Forest (CB) *VIA Trade*

                              Analysis: A very instinctive and physical corner. Has very good speed, and is a good athlete. Takes quick cuts, solid in both man and zone, and is a confident player.




                              Round 3:                               A.J Edds [6'4, 245lbs.] Iowa (SLB)

                              Analysis: Blessed with great size. Is a pure strongside linebacker, and should complement Laurinaitis very well. Solid tackler and has improved his coverage vastly this season.





                              Round 4: Jared Veldheer [6'9, 325lbs.] Hillsdale (OT)

                              Analysis: His frame is similar to Johnathan Ogden, Jared Gaither, and Sebastian Vollmer. Very massive size, and should become our starter at RT.




                              Round 4:                               Austen Lane [6'6, 267lbs.] Murray State (DE) *VIA Trade*

                              Analysis: Good athlete, very disruptive. A powerful tackler, and he is a pass-rushing machine. Needs to improve run stopping though.




                              Round 5: Rico McCoy [6'1, 220lbs.] Tennessee (WLB)

                              Analysis: A very rangy linebacker, and is very, very fast. Should complete our linebacker trio alongside Laurinaitis and Edds. Has the speed to cover sideline to sideline, but needs to add some bulk to his frame.




                              Round 5: Vince Oghobaase [6'6, 305lbs.] Duke (DT) *VIA Trade* (From Eagles)

                              Analysis: Should be a good addition to our DT rotation. Had a pretty good junior season last year, but missed several games due to injuries and has hurt his stats and stock. Has good agility, and smarts for the game.




                              Round 6: Andrew Quarless [6'5, 252lbs.] Penn State (TE)

                              Analysis: Could become our 2nd TE. Great athlete, and great pass catching TE. The reason why he is projected so low is because of a history of getting in trouble, but he has not been in trouble for a while. He's maybe cleaned up.


                              Round 7: Brandon Carter [6'7, 350lbs.] Texas Tech (OG)

                              Analysis: Scary guy. Great depth for the O-line, and could figure into the mix for the starting RG spot.

                              Franchise QB. Has all the intangibles you need to succeed. Excellent accuracy, great leader. Lets Talk Numbers.



                              TRADE!!!! Houston Trades picks (51, 83)

                              2. Aaron Hernandez, TE, Florida


                              First Off Houston does the deal to trade up and get the best RB or DB that falls out of round 1. Hernandez has excellent hands and great speed. Can make an instant impact in the passing game as he continues to develop as a blocker.



                              3. Jermaine Cunningham, DE, Florida


                              Cunningham has good speed of the edge, and is good in all aspects as a pass rusher. He will be the future at RE opposite Long.



                              3. Ben Tate, RB, Auburn


                              Perfect compliment to S-jax. 4.3 Speed at 220 pounds. He is great pass blocker and receiver out of the backfield would be the perfect number 2 back on this team.



                              4. AJ Edds, LB, Iowa


                              Big tough LB Spags likes 6'4 246. He is a good enough athlete and excels in coverage. Could probably play all LB positions, but will play at our biggest weakness WLB.



                              5. Marcus Easly, WR, UCONN


                              Homer Pick lol. This kid has a ton of talent extremely fast good size. Give him some more experience and time to develop and he will be a gem.



                              5. Derek Hardman, OT, Eastern Kentucky


                              One of the better tackles in DII. Could be good depth possibly a future starter at RT.



                              6. Clifton Geathers, DL, South Carolina


                              6'8 300 DE. Could gives spags the versatility he likes on the D-line. He isn't a finished product, but spags will definately coach him up.



                              7. George Johnson, DE, Rutgers


                              Good size and athletic. Alot of experience could join the rotation on the d-line.



                              7. Adrian Tracy, LB, William & Marry


                              Former DE, but will probably move to LB. He could develop into a good special teamer/ Utility LB like Spags did with Chase Black burn.



                              7. Van Eksridge, FS, Eastern Carolina


                              Great instinctive safety. Could instantly contribute on special teams and be depth at FS....
