  • Should the Rams trade for Brandon Marshall

I am no expert and probably missed a thread on this already. But with all this draft talk I have been thinking about other opportunities that can make this offense function now in 2010.

Is there a player/pick combo worth this guy? Is he too big a head case.

Down side is he is on the back side of the career when a young QB will likely blossom.

Up side is he is an immediate threat defenses would have to respect giving Jackson room and opening more "west coast" type offensive opportunities.

If he goes to the Seabirds he will kill us. (not a reason)

i like him, i think denver made it pretty clear they want a first round pick for him and don't really want to talk about anything else. of course, our 2nd round pick is one away from a first, so if they were going to fold we would be the ones with the opportunity but i don't think it happens.

i think theres more chance of Plaxico being brought onboard and the chances of that happening are slimmer than a toothpick.

The only reason I want Marshall is because I dont want seattle to get their hands on him.

Talented headache who wants $10mil and would cost us our 2nd? No thanks.

I will admit his talent is tantalizing, and he'd give Bradford a huge weapon, but he has been a pain in the rear to the Broncos, and he would cost a LOT of money, as opposed to the cheaper 2nd round pick which is basically a first in this year's draft. I'd love to have a guy of Marshall's talent, just not his attitude.

yeah, notice he's not a seahawk buddy? they also have a second first round pick, which they have been trying their best to use instead, but denver hasn't bit yet.

I don't think I would want the potential drama he would bring, not to mention that I doubt we would give up a 2nd for him.

On the other hand, we desperately need a durable veteran reciever, or at least I would feel more comfortable if we picked up one. Our recieving corps is green and unproven and a poor fit for a rookie QB. The last thing a rookie QB needs is the poor route running Bulger had to put up with. How many times did out recievers screw the pouch on timed routes last year? How many times was our QB (and along with everyone at home) scratching his head at a broken play?

                I think we need someone.

As i have posted before and will post again, with the sale of the rams pending, the odds of current ownership trading for a guy like this AND paying him a huge signing bonus, which would come out of chip's pocket are absolutely ZERO.

Brandon Marshall could be had for a second rounder?
                        by THOLTFAN81
Per Peter King in his MMQB Contd regarding Marshalls value:

.....If this is true, we obviously hold the top pick in the second round. The Rams are insane not to pursue this if possible. Marshall is only 26 years old, and has had over 100 catches in all but one season. He is the type of WR that just makes your QB better. Sure he is a diva and at times a complainer, but most WRs are. I would be IN LOVE with the idea of us acquiring Marshall for a second round pick.

                        Dump Marshall?
                        by coy bacon
As far as I can tell, Marshall has not been much of an impact player this year. I have not been able to see many games, but I don't hear "Marshall, Marshall, Marshall" very often it seems.

If he is one of the "offensive salary-cap eatin pigs" who is no longer pulling his weight, should the team dump him, trade him, or re-negotiate his contract? Jackson certainly has earned being designated the future RB, and we need help on the D, which will cost cap bucks.

So what do you think? Sentimentality aside, is Marshall actually pulling his contract weight?

                        Please trade for Tony Scheffler

Tony Scheffler likely next out Dove Valley’s door

                        By Mike Klis
Brandon Marshall is gone. And tight end Tony Scheffler may be following him out the Dove Valley doors. Scheffler, the Broncos’ top pass-catching tight end, is close to signing his restricted free-agent tender with the Broncos, a move that _ as the Marshall situation taught us _ is a formality step preceeding the team’s ability to trade him.
At that point, the Broncos will have completed an Holy Trinity overhaul of sorts as Jay Cutler, Marshall and Scheffler _ three of the biggest weapons from the Mike Shanahan era _ will have been traded away in a span of 13 months.

                        Larry Fitzgerald's Worth
                        by CanadaRam
Talking to a friend of mine, and we began talking about Larry Fitzgerald and what it would take for teams to trade for him. Of course, i started to think of what the Rams could do to acquire him. I know there are a lot of other factors, such as salary and the like (he is worth what he is getting paid) but what do you think is a realistic trade would be for the Rams to acquire Fitz?

Also i don't care that they would "never trade within the division" because that makes this a lot less fun

Broncos WR Brandon Marshall Asked Owner For A Trade?
                        by -Scar-

Adam Schefter reported today on 850 KOA radio in Denver that Brandon Marshall told Broncos owner Pat Bowlen "I think I'd like to be traded" during Friday's meeting. Bowlen asked Marshall to take some time to think about it, and lets discuss this again.
