  • Steelers to present Trade Package to Rams?

Below is a quote from Jason La Canfora..

"In particular, the Steelers are enamored with likely No. 1 overall draft pick Sam Bradford. They essentially view Bradford as a sure-thing franchise quarterback and have considered what it would take to move up to the No. 1 pick in a trade with the St. Louis Rams, according to a source. However, the Steelers know executing such a move would be highly difficult, and they figure the Rams have limited interest in Roethlisberger."

Although the Rams will not take Big Ben if the steelers are too offload him to another team what kind of package would they be getting? Also what kind of package would we require to do buisness with the steelers. (note this could be a blockbuster trade with them having to give multiple picks in good rounds for multiple years) any suggestions?

    2010 picks: 1st 2nd 2011 picks: 2nd 4th
players: Dennis Dixon and Mewelde Moore

I would accept nothing less then that from the steelers for our 1st round pick.

Way too low. I'd need half of their draft and Ben. Their first rounder is too low for me to take anything less.

Well here is what I would suggest far fetched maybe (presuming steeleres get an extra 1st this year from trading big ben)

            2010 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd
            2011 1st 2nd

I would need multiple first round picks ala the Jay Cutler deal. But even with their first this year and next year, still not sure I would do it... Maybe for both firsts and both seconds in the next two years. You can't expect those draft picks to be very high picks. Jumping up 18 spots is going to cost ya.

Never gonna happen. I don't see anyway to work up an equitable trade.

It's just too far fetched to happen. As annoyed as the Steelers might be with Big Ben, there's no way that they would spend the draft capital to move up that far for one player. They're a team that builds through the draft, so they need as many picks as possible, and especially high picks after giving up Holmes for so cheap. In my opinion this is a complete rumor and not even a good one.
                    I believe!:ram:

I thought I was the only one that noticed a lack of that statement. Perhaps the title of the thread should be changed to reflect that this is merely speculation at this point.

Can't help but feel this is being drummed up by the Rams themselves to get interest for the top pick. Seems like this happens every year. The reports of a trade from "sources". Spags is constantly preaching character, so no way is ben coming, and to trade down that far, don't care how deep the draft is all the elite players gone?? Doesn't make sense. The steelers are good enough that even if we did get their No. 1 for next yr it still would be a mid to late round choice.

If we dont get jack lambert and mel blount in that deal, i dont see how it works for us.

This is speculation in its purest form. Nothing wrong with having fun with a thread like this, but its not going to happen.

Hindsight is a (you know what). Do you make this trade?
                                by Bald_81
Prior to the 2010 NFL Draft, it was speculated that the Steelers were shopping Ben Roethlisberger. He was suspended for six games for the upcoming season (later reduced to four), which might've been the impetus for wanting to trade him. One team they made an offer to was the Rams. The rumor was they offered Roethlisberger (and possibly additional picks) for the #1 overall pick in the draft and the Rams declined.

Let's say they included their 1st rounder (18th overall) as part of the package. We could have drafted someone like Maurkice Pouncey, Demaryius Thomas or Dez Bryant.

So, with the benefit of hindsight, what would you have done?

I know, I know, you can use hindsight in a vast majority of situations. But I thought this one was particularly interesting because the decision, which was obviously paramount at the time, would have such a big impact on the direction of the franchise....

No, I still would've picked someone other than Bradford

No, I still would've selected Bradford

Would you trade the first overall pick to the Steelers for Big Ben? KFNS had a small discussion about the rumor. I was wondering if any of you guys would do it ?
Im too much on the Bradford bandwagon to look at it objectively, and of course it will not happen . In my opinion that would be a kick in the nuts to the 4 pillars.

                                Trade with Baltimore?
                                by THOLTFAN81
Baltimore has a big need for QB(Matt Ryan), but they wont get him at there current posistion of 1,8. What if we make a deal with them

                                1,2

                                for

                                1,8
                                2,8

Then turn around and trade the 2,2 and 2,8 for another mid-late first rounder and draft a good cornerback.

                                Just a thought...

                                Another draft trade down rumor......Disturbing
                                by LARAM
I listened to some ESPN analyst, talk about how Chicago loves Darren McFadden to the point, that they may be willing to trade up to get him.

This scares me.....With other rumors of Dallas and Oakland wanting him, in order for Chicago to possibly get Mcfadden, they might possibly have to trade up to at least the #3 pick or even #2. This could be a possibility, and I hate to say it, but it isn't all that crazy sounding. I guess alot depends on what Miami does as well. I guess if a trade like this happened, we would all be blindsided.

I am totally against a trade back to the 14th pick, but what would be reasonable compensation if something like this happened? How could something like this benefit the Rams, and what type of strategy would we use for our picks.

I just think it's absolutely crazy to trade back this far, and I know this is all speculative, but jeez, What kind of deal would it take for the Rams to move back that far?

I get the feeling the front office and coaching staff are really going to rebuild this team from the ground up. I'm starting to wonder if they won't trade a lot in the draft to stockpile draft picks to start getting some new blood in here.

I know a lot assume were gonna take a left tackle to replace Pace, but with a team that's rebuilding it would not surprise me to see them trade down and then get a lotta guys. What say you?
