  • Co- worker's thought

We were talking Rams football. He thru out an idea, I'm not sure if I would do it but it was worth talking about.
    Here's his plan or ideal.
    1) Draft Suh Round one
    2) Trade round 2 pick to Pitt for Big Ben(2 super bowls in 4 years)

Big Ben and Suh would be safer than Bradford and whoever you get in round 2.
Team would be improved with these two players.

I seriously doubt Big Ben can be had for only a 2nd. As you said, 2 superbowl in 4 years. A QB who has yet to throw a pass in this league was just traded for a 2nd, and McNabb who is older with no superbowls fetched a 2nd+. I'd say that is a deal that would be hard to pass up, but I wouldn't bet even $1 on the Steelers taking it.

I wouldn't want him anyway between the character issues and the fact that his two Super Bowl rings are only slightly more a result of his personal efforts than Trent Dilfer's.

Am i the only one that thinks Ben isn't very good? Also he isn't a 4 pillars guy by any means, I would find it hard to cheer for him on the Rams to tell you the truth.

I wouldn't be surprised if Big Ben was available for a second round pick. He's getting a bad rep for his off-field activity and could face suspension. On the field, he's a tough and efficient quarterback with a strong arm and decent but unexceptional accuracy. He's not exactly a future Hall of Famer, though.

Personally, I think more credit goes to the Steelers defenses than Big Ben for those Super Bowl appearances and victories. Roethlisberger would be a "good enough" quarterback especially if we were to use a run-first, play-action offense. His credentials are less of a fit if we run a WCO, as quick decisions are not his strong suit and we would not be taking advantage of his big arm.

The big question here in my mind is where we see ourselves going as a team. If we don't mind overlooking detestable off-field behavior and expect the passing game to play second fiddle to the running game, Ben makes sense. If we're hoping that the passing game will one day be a major team strength, want a cleaner face of the franchise, or need a different skill set, maybe we would be better off drafting a QB.

I have to agree with this. A strong arm isn't needed for a WCO, and I would argue hurts it. A quick release will get the ball there in the same amount of time as a strong arm, but the ball will be much easier to catch.

Vick's completion % wasn't all about poor accuracy, but throwing the ball so hard his receivers couldn't catch it. I wouldn't want a repeat of that here with Big Ben. Also since Big Ben likes to hold the ball a minimum of 5 minutes (kidding) before he throws it, a WCO wouldn't work well for him. He would however probably help Avery out.

I still don't think a 2nd gets him though, not with the price of QBs where it is.
