  • Devaney: "Virtually no chance that we're going to trade down.."

Per 101 ESPN. Devaney got on the Bernie Miklasz show today and basically shot down the Rams trading down for cheap rumors. He said realistically, unless they get that very special, ridiculous deal, they are NOT trading down from the number one pick. The rumors are just that, rumors.

Would not reveal which way he was leaning as far as who they are going to draft. Did say that they were going to be taking a poll soon from all of the scouts and draft evaluators to see who is the favorite.

No duh they shouldn't trade down. There's no way the team gets value out of picking in the 7 spot compared to picking in the 1 spot.

Although, shouldn't the poll have happened by now?

We have more needs than picks, of course we should trade down. I don't care if we can't grab 3000 points of picks, just trade down and get something for it. McCoy will be there at 33, and we can go any number of directions at #7. WR, CB, DE, hell, even OT maybe.
        I believe!:ram:

Using a #7 overall pick on a RT is bad value unless your QB is left handed and few are. There really isn't much value for the Rams at 7. As nice as an extra 2nd and 3rd would be I don't see anyone at 7 who is good value and fills our needs, we'd have to trade down again if that was possible.

I would argue that one superstar player is better than 3 good ones. I'd trade reggie wayne, addai, dallas clark for peyton manning any day of the week.

The key to this for me is the value that our #33 pick might command. If we can take a 2011 first-rounder plus additional picks through rounds 2/3/4 this year in return for #33, then there's no real need to trade the #1 unless we're allergic to the kind of contract the #1 might command.

Plus, I don't see a great trade partner from spots 2-7 in the first round which would allow us to trade #1 and bank some nice picks at the top of the first round.

So I can see the sense in staying put whether the #1 ends up realising Bradford/Suh or McCoy.
