Sorry for the slight delay folks...

With the 1st pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select:

    Luke Joeckel, LT Texas A&M

Having secured their QB of the near future in Alex Smith, The Chiefs can now turn their attention to other needs. Brandon Albert has signed his franchise tender, but that only guarantees him for the next year. The team also released RT Eric Winston, creating a huge need on the outside of the line in the coming years.

Albert has come out publicly stating he has no desire to switch to the right side, and rumors are already surfacing of possible trade scenarios. The new Chiefs staff has to start thinking toward the future here, and new Head Coach Andy Reid sure loves his linemen.

Joeckel is athletic enough to handle the outside pass rushers in the NFL and turned in a solid year of tape against the toughest the SEC had to offer. He also performed well enough at his pro day to all but assure his selection here.

      Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon

The Jags starting DEs last year combined for 5 sacks.
DT Tyson Alualu led the team with 3.5.
The whole roster managed just 20 sacks.

One thing Gus Bradley is going to need immediately is a LEO (think Chris Clemons for the past 3 years). Bradley's defense is a wondrous thing to behold, but it won't be much if he can't find someone to consistently get in the backfield. That's where Jordan comes in. He has the speed/size combo to line up in that wide weakside DE position without getting soaked up by backside runs.

Wouldn't be surprised by Floyd either, but I believe Jordan is the pick here.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

With the third pick, the Oakland Raiders select...

        Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
The Raiders have a lot of needs, so they could go in a number of directions. In the end, I see them going with a player who could anchor their defense and make a big impact. Floyd is strong against the run and has the tools to become an effective pass rusher from the interior. Howie Long will like this pick.

With the fourth overall pick, The Philadelphia Eagles select...

          Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama

The Eagles complete the re-tooling of their secondary with the addition of the best corner in the draft. Milliner, coupled with the additions of Kenny Phillips, and Cary Williams, sets up a formidable secondary. Milliner possesses all the intangibles necessary to be a successful #1 corner in the NFL. Milliner has prototypical #1 corner size, and speed to match after running a 4.37 at the scouting combine. Milliner is a starter day one.

With the fifth overall pick, the Detroit Lions select...

Eric Fisher - OT - Central Michigan

Jeff Backus has retired from football, leaving a gaping hole at the left tackle spot on the Lions' offensive line. Former first round pick Riley Reiff could fill it, but he'd likely be a better fit on the right side or at guard. Some believe Fisher should be a legitimate contender to be the first player taken in this draft, so if the Lions see him available, he should get a lot of consideration for their top pick.

Perhaps the best talent in the draft. There are medical concerns- the same ones that led him to transfer from USC to Georgia in the first place. However he's been cleared medically and fits in perfectly with what Michael Lombardi is trying to build in the AFC North: A ferocious, unrelenting defense.

                Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia

Bruce Arians can pretend like he's comfortable with Drew Stanton starting, but he's not. I go with the top QB of the draft here. Geno has a strong arm and is accurate. The Cardinals finally get a guy they can build around. I can tell you Larry Fitz is probably the happiest guy in the NFL once this goes down. Geno has all the tools to be a successful QB and working with Arians will only help (coached Big Ben and Luck). The Cardinals still have a very weak offensive line, but at least Geno Smith does have good mobility.

With the 8th overall pick, in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select:

This was kind of the worst case scenario for the Bills. They would have liked Jones as a perfect outside linebacker to put opposite from Mario Williams, and Jordan would have worked nicely as well. Looking at Quarterback, they just lost out by one spot to get Geno Smith. It's less that they missed out on him(though he would have been the probable pick), but that the race is now on for what QB talent there is in this draft.

The Bills stay to their draft board though, and get a weapon to pair with Stevie Johnson for their to be quarterback, hoping that they don't need to trade up to get him later.

                    Ezekiel Ansah, DE/OLB BYU

Ansah started playing football for the first time in 2010, and burst onto the scene during his senior season. Checking in at 6'6, 270 pounds, he fits the mold perfectly of 3-4 rush linebacker.

Ansah soared up draft boards after solid showings at the senior bowl and combine. His incredible athleticism and playmaking ability allow him to set up camp in opposing backfields.

Head Coach Rex Ryan needs pass rushers badly and is eager to replenish his defense after saying goodbye to a number of key players, including Calvin Pace, Bart Scott, and Sione Pouha. Ansah will return Gang Green to their former pass rushing trademark Rex Ryan defenses are known for, and one that was sorely lacking in recent years.

With the 10th pick, the Titans select.....

                      Jon Cooper, OG, North Carolina

The interior of the Titans O-line needs help. They signed Levitre at Guard and tendered Velasco at Center. They need another Guard. Personally, I think Warmack is the better choice. However, Velasco is only tendered, and could hit a payday elsewhere in the near future. If that happens, Cooper could/would take over at Center. A CB is certainly an option as well. If Milliner were available, he'd go here.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

With the 11th pick in the 2013 draft, the San Diego Chargers select:

                        Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
The Chargers need to rebuild an O line that did a fairly poor job of protecting Philip Rivers last year. Johnson is the top LT on the board, and has the tools to be a very good one. He is inexperienced, and may need some time before he hits his peak, but he should be an upgrade in pass protection right away.

With the 12th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, The Miami Dolphins select:

                          Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida St.

Miami sits with a gaping hole at cornerback with the loss of Sean Smith. They have bought most of their holes via free agency, but have created two by losing Jake Long & Sean Smith. If Lane Johnson were here, he would be the pick. Instead, Miami settles for the #2 corner in the draft. NFL teams are going to start wanting their corners to be built like Seattles monsters, and Rhodes fits the mold. Standing at 6'1 with legit 4.4 speed, he was a workout warrior at the combine, posting the best broad jump, and best vertical. He collected 8 interceptions in three college seasons, so you can also say he possesses plus-hands.

With the 13th overall pick, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select...

Sheldon Richardson - DT - Missouri

The Buccaneers allowed defensive end Michael Bennett to hit free agency in part because they believe in Da'Quan Bowers could become his replacement. With that in mind and with questionable value here at defensive end, I went with another position on the defensive line. Gerard McCoy is becoming the player Tampa believed he could when they drafted him third overall three years ago, but they need to pair him with a better player than Gary Gibson.

                              Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah

Defensive tackle is definitely Carolina's biggest need. They are rolling the dice with this pick. Lotulelei was a potential number 1 pick in this years draft until an echocardiogram detected a heart condition. Weight loss and dehydration seem to be the culprits concerning the heart condition.
Although the Panthers are taking a chance with this pick, " IF " Lotulelei is in fact ok this pick is a steal at 14. The 6'4", 320 lb Lotulelei made six All-American teams as a senior and was a first-team all Pac-12 Conference player.

                                39. St. Louis Rams (f/WAS): Zach Brown, LB, North Carolina
                                40. Carolina Panthers: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
                                41. Buffalo Bills: Muhammad Sanu, WR, Rutgers
                                42. Miami Dolphins: Andre Branch, DE/OLB, Clemson
                                43. Seattle Seahawks:Kevin Zeitler, OG, Wisc

The 2015 ClanRam Mod/Insiders Mock Draft - *SELECTION THREAD*
                                by Nick
It’s that time of year again, folks!

The annual ClanRam Moderator/Insiders Mock Draft is upon us, and we’re bringing you a great panel of amateur draftniks to play GM through two rounds of an NFL projected mock draft.

There will be no trades in this mock, and the order for assigned GMs has been chosen at random. Each GM will make their pick in this Selection Thread, including the reasoning behind their selection. Then, it will be the next team and next GM on the clock. We will go as quickly as possible to get through a two-round projection and try to give a possible option for how the draft could go down this year.

Our amateur GMs this year are…

They have each been assigned a color, so the teams they’re picking for have also been assigned the corresponding color.

We will begin the Mod/Insiders Mock Draft on Friday, March 27th! If you’d like to participate and provide feedback, please do so in the Mod/Insiders Comments thread. This thread is STRICTLY for making the picks.

*Final* AR Complete Round 1 Mock
                                by AvengerRam_old
This is my story, and I'm sticking to it!

                                1. Houston Texans: Reggie Bush, RB, USC
Don't be fooled by reports of negotiations with Mario Williams. He's just a pawn to get Bush's price down a bit. Bush is the "can't not take this guy" prospect in this draft.

                                2. New Orleans: Mario Williams, DE, NC State

Saints will get a guy who will be an impact rookie, and will a Pro Bowl selection within a few years. OTs in the NFC South will hate this pick.

                                3. Tennessee Titans: Vince Young, QB, Texas
For months, everyone has tried to find a reason to downgrade Young. The bottom line is, he's an exceptional performer on the football field, which is all that really should matter.

                                4. New York Jets: Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland
D'Brickashaw Ferguson would be the safer and, perhaps, the more logical choice, but the Jets are still a Broadway team, and Davis will make a lot more highlight film plays.

                                5. Green Bay Packers: A.J. Hawk, OLB, OhioState
With Williams gone, they will select the top remaining defensive player in the draft. Will be an instant impact player for the Packers.

                                6. San Francisco Niners: Michael Huff, DB, Texas
Niners will be a bit thrown by the selection of Davis at number 4, as he was likely their target. Huff will be touted as the next Ronnie Lott, though he's a different type of player.

                                7. Oakland Raiders: Matt Leinart, QB, USC
Leinart would have been the first pick in 2005, but he'll drop to number 7 in this draft. No problem – with his Hollywood image, he'll make up the money in endorsement contracts.

                                8. Buffalo Bills: D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia
Bills are surprised by Ferguson's fall, and will eagerly snatch him up. He'll start as a rookie, obviously.

                                9. Detroit Lions: Antonio Cromartie, DB, FSU
There always seem to be surprises coming out of Detroit, and this year is no exception. Cromartie's stock has been shooting up in recent weeks following his workout.

                                10. Arizona Cardinals: Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt
Many teams (not the Rams, though) will try to trade up for Cutler but, in the end, he'll head to the Southwest to be Kurt Warner's short-term understudy.

                                11. St. Louis Rams: Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon
Pickett, Lewis, Kennedy… will four times be the charm? Ram fans hope so, and Ngata is certainly a good prospect. Maybe the best prospect of the bunch.

                                12. Cleveland Browns: Brodrick Bunkley, DT, FSU
Fast rising Bunkley will be a welcome addition in Cleveland. They would have been happy with Ngata too.

                                13. Baltimore Ravens: Winston Justice, OT, USC
Will be a good RT initially, and will be the heir apparent to Jonathan Ogden, who is now 32. A good value pick.

                                14. Philadelphia Eagles: Chad Jackson, WR, Florida
While Eagles didn't miss TO's BS, they missed his...

It seems to be an ongoing argument here at the clam....

So I've decided to breakdown each division to identify which team has the more productive/talented QB. Then review which teams were playoff contenders and how the average to below average teams faired.

                                Patriots -- Brady
                                Jets -- Sanchez
                                Dolphins -- Henne
                                Bills -- ? Edwards

                                Bengals -- Palmer
                                Ravens -- Flacco
                                Steelers -- Big Ben
                                Browns -- Quinn

                                Colts -- Manning
                                Texans -- Schaub
                                Titans -- Young
                                Jaguars -- Garruard

                                Chargers -- Rivers
                                Broncos -- Orton
                                Chifs -- casell(sp)
                                Raiders -- pick anyone

                                Cowboys -- Romo
                                Eagles -- McNabb
                                Giants -- Manning
                                Redskins -- Campbell

                                Falcons -- Ryan
                                Panthers -- Moore
                                Bucaneers -- Freeman?

                                Vickings -- Favre
                                Packers -- Rodgers

                                Patriots -- Brady
                                Colts -- Manning
                                Chargers -- Rivers

                                Eagles -- McNabb
                                Cowboys -- Romo
                                Packers -- Rodgers

Hate to say it folks but it seems the majority of times that the teams with the best QB in thier division make the playoffs.

Av's Final Round 1 Mock (with one shocking "riser"!!!)
                                by AvengerRam_old
Here's my final stab at the first round. Some offbeat picks here (one in particular) but, hey, why be conventional?

                                1. Carolina Panthers: Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
Most believe that the Panthers will go with a QB with the first overall pick. Maybe they will, but I believe that there are enough question marks associated with each of the top signal callers to prompt Carolina to go in another, much safer, direction.

                                2. Denver Broncos: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
The Broncos need to fix their defense, and starting with Peterson, who can physically match even the most gifted WRs in the league, is a good place to build from.

                                3. Buffalo Bills: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
Buffalo needs something to excite its fan base. While Newton is a risk, he also could provide a huge payoff if his maturity catches up to his physical talent.

                                4. Cincinnati Bengals: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
I don't know that the Bengals will trade Carson Palmer just yet, but the rumblings have started. This makes Gabbert, who could use a bit of seaoning but has great potential, a great choice.

                                5. Arizona Cardinals: Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M
The Cardinals probably should take a QB, but they have not come to terms with the fact that they are rebuilding, as opposed to being a "one guy away" team. They could also use an OT, but none merit such a high choice. Miller will be expected to be an impact player right away.

                                6. Cleveland Browns: A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
Green is an elite prospect and will be expected to take the role of Colt McCoy's go-to guy right away. They’ll look to bolster the defense in Round 2.

                                7. San Francisco Niners: Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
The Niners need to upgrade the QB spot and their DBs. As the top two QBs are off the board, Amukamara will be the pick.

                                8. Tennessee Titans: Nick Fairly, DT, Auburn
The good news: Fairly could make the Titans forget Albert Haynesworth. The bad news: Fairly could cause the Titans to remember Albert Haynesworth.

                                9. Dallas Cowboys: Cameron Jordan, DE, California
Though the Cowboys need to bolster the OT spot, Jordan is their best value at this point. He will fit in perfectly on their defense.

                                10. Washington Redskins: Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
Rams fans everywhere shout “Noooooooo!!!” as the second of two first-round quality WRs comes off the board. The Redskins need a guy like Jones to add some pop to a very bland offense.

                                11. Houston Texans: Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
Houston should probably take defensive players with every pick they have. Quinn will be a great bookend for Mario Williams.

                                12. Minnesota Vikings: Da’Quan Bowers, DE, Minnesota
Robert Edwards is a free agent, so Bowers makes sense here. But for his knee issues, he is a top 5 prospect, so the risk could yield a big
