  • Av's Rams 2018 Rams Draft Board (Version 4.0) - Planning for Round 3 and Beyond!

    This is tough...

    Wit
h no pick in the first two rounds, I've cut off the top of my previous board, eliminating players who I believe will definitely be gone within the first 50 selections.

With that... here are 25 prospects I like who could be there when the Rams make their picks in Rounds 3-6:

    * Denotes player that the Rams have reportedly met with.
    1. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, EDGE, Oklahoma*
    2. Braden Smith, OG, Auburn
    3. Sam Hubbard, EDGE, Ohio State
    4. Micah Kiser, ILB, Virginia*
    5. Frank Ragnow, C/OG, Arkansas
    6. Martinas Rankin, OT, Mississippi State
    7. Tyrell Crosby, OT, Oregon*
    8. Chukwuma Okorafor, OT, Western Michigan
    9. Jeff Holland, EDGE, Auburn
    10. Skyler Phillips, OG, Idaho State
    11. Dorance Armstrong, EDGE, Kansas*
    12. Javon Rolland-Jones, EDGE, Arkansas State
    13. Will Richardson, OT, NC State
    14. Will Clapp, C/OG, LSU
    15. Wyatt Teller, OG, VaTech
    16. Uchenna Nwosu, LB, USC
    17. Josey Jewell, ILB, Iowa*
    18. Mike McCray, LB, Michigan
    19. Christian Sam, ILB, Arizona State
    20. Geron Christian, OT, Louisville
    21. Ito Smith, RB, Southern Mississippi*
    22. Shaquem Griffin, EDGE, Central Florida
    23. Terrell Edmunds, FS, VaTech
    24. Tray Matthews, SS, Auburn
    25. Jason Cabinda, ILB, Penn State

Good board, but you're only listing 1 rb and I suspect the Rams might have a few more in their sights. There's a prospect from Iowa whom I've seen in mocks the Rams picking in round 3 or 4. I've also seen your early fave Dante Pettis WR going to us in round 4. I wish Frank Ragnow would be there but he's rising pretty fast. 3 Auburn players, Les would be very pleased.

    Go Rams!

Akrum Wadley. Yes, I'd say he's a potential fit. I like Rashaad Penny, SDSU, but wouldn't be surprised to see him gone before the Rams make their pick. I also like Nyheim Hines, NC State.

With the addition of Cooks, I'd be surprised to see the Rams take a WR before Round 6.

He could be there in Round 3. After that, I'd be surprised if the Rams get a shot at him.

LOL. I guess so! Just a coincidence, though.

One player, not on my board, who I've read that the Rams are meeting with and who could be an interesting fit is SS thumper, Dane Cruikshank, Arizona.

Agree with all your points. In truth if there's and edge rusher the Rams like at #87 I think they'll go that direction before any other spot.

With the release of Webster, CB should be a consideration.

        Go Rams!

AV, I see that your draft board is heavy on offensive line and inside linebackers. With all things being equal, what position should the Rams address with their first pick?

            I'd say (1) EDGE, (2) ILB, (3) OT, (4) C/G.

Shaq Griffin. I just think he will be a difference maker day one. Av, Do you think if he had 2 hands he would be a 1st round pick?
              sigpicMaybe not now, but soon.

He'd still be a bit of a 'tweener (size of a SS, plays OLB), but I think he'd certainly be a Day 2 pick.

A few notes on some players not on my board...

Two EDGE rushers I like, but did not include because I don't expect them to last are Georgia's Lorenzo Carter (who Nick has falling to the Rams in his latest mock) and Rutgers' Kemoko Turay. I'd probably rate Carter just ahead of Okoronkwo and Turay right behind Hubbard.

Tyrell Crosby, who I have at #7, seems to be getting a lot of buzz. I would not be surprised if he is gone in Round 2.

Justin Lawler of SMU is a guy I believe the Rams have met with. He's an EDGE who could be available with one of the Rams' 6th round picks.

I've been considering whether there could be potential "board busters": guys who I don't have on the board because of their position or because I believe they are likely to go in the top 50-60 picks, but could drop and cause me to favor a player outside my board. Carter is one. Another could be Tim Settle, NT, VaTech. While NT is now a low priority spot, if he were to drop to #87, I'd be very tempted (particularly when you consider that Suh is on a one-year deal). The one guy who could drop due to Red Flags, and would be a total boom/bust prospect, is Arden Key.

                    Av's 2018 Rams Draft Board (Version 1.0)
                    AvengerRam
Here is my first Rams draft board of the year.

As this is the Rams draft board, not a general board, there are some important caveats:

                    * Certain positions (i.e. QB, RB) were not considered, as the Rams are not likely to invest a first round pick at those spots.
                    * This is NOT a prediction of the order in which the listed players will be selected. Rather, it is my priority list for the Rams.
                    * As we are pre-Combine, I'm only going 20 players deep. However, as there are at least 3 QBs and 2 RBs who will likely go in the top 22, it is safe to say that at least some of these players will be there when the Rams pick at No. 23.

So, with that said, here is my preliminary list:
                    1. Bradley Chubb, DE, NC State
                    2. Quentin Nelson, OG, Notre Dame
                    3. Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa
                    4. Tremaine Edmunds, LB, VaTech
                    5. Vita Vea, NT, Washington
                    6. Marcus Davenport, DE, UTSA
                    7. Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State
                    8. Minkah Fitzpatrick, S, Alabama
                    9. Jaire Alexander, CB Louisville
                    10. James Daniels, C, Iowa
                    11. Derwin James, S, FSU
                    12. Arden Key, OLB (Edge), LSU
                    13. Billy Price, OG/C, Ohio State
                    14. Harold Landry, OLB (Edge), Boston College
                    15. Isaiah Oliver, CB, Colorado
                    16. Roquan Smith, ILB, Georgia
                    17. Sam Hubbard, DE, Ohio State
                    18. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, DE, Oklahoma
                    19. Chukwuma Okorafor, OT, W.Mich.
                    20. Will Hernandez, OG, UTEP

Av's 2018 Rams Draft Board (Version 3.0) - Lots of moves mean lots of changes!
                    AvengerRam
With the Rams' moves on defense, there are big changes on my draft board.

CB, once the priority, is now off the board. After acquiring Marcus Peter, Aqib Talib and Sam Shields, and re-signing Nickell Robey-Coleman, it is no longer a priority.

Similarly, with the signing of Ndamukong Suh, and the re-signing of Dominique Easley, I don't see DT as a priority.

This pushes LB (Edge and ILB) to the top of the priority list, followed by OL depth and WR.

With that, here is my new board:
                    1. Bradley Chubb, DE (Edge), NC State
                    2. Quentin Nelson, OG, Notre Dame
                    3. Tremaine Edmunds, LB, VaTech
                    4. Marcus Davenport, DE (Edge), UTSA
                    5. Harold Landry, OLB (Edge), Boston College
                    6. Roquan Smith, ILB, Georgia
                    7. Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State
                    8. James Daniels, OG/C, Iowa
                    9. Will Hernandez, OG, UTEP
                    10. Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama
                    11. Arden Key, OLB (Edge), LSU
                    12. Isaiah Wynn, OG, Georgia
                    13. Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama
                    14. Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame
                    15. Connor Williams, OT, Texas
                    16. D.J. Moore, WR, Maryland
                    17. Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M
                    18. Billy Price, OG/C, Ohio State
                    19. Lorenzo Carter, OLB (Edge), Georgia
                    20. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, DE (Edge), Oklahoma
                    21. Sam Hubbard, DE (Edge), Ohio State
                    22. D.J. Chark, WR, LSU
                    23. Frank Ragnow, C, Arkansas

                    Av's 2018 Draft Watch List
                    AvengerRam
Its way too early for a draft board, but here is a list of players I think would be good fits on the Rams (and are not projected to go long before the Rams make their first selection). Some are first round prospects, while others are guys I like and hope are there in Round 3 or later.

                    RB Sony Michel, Sr., Georgia
RB Ito Smith, Sr., Southern Mississippi

                    C Frank Ragnow, Sr., Arkansas

                    OG Braden Smith, Sr., Auburn

OT Chukwuma Okorafor, Sr., Western Michigan

                    NT Vita Vea, Jr., Washington

OLB/Edge Sam Hubbard, Jr., Ohio State
                    OLB/Edge Arden Key, Jr., LSU
                    OLB/Edge Harold Landry, Boston College
                    OLB/Edge Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Sr., Oklahoma

ILB Tremaine Edmunds, Jr., Virginia Tech

                    CB Jaire Alexander, Jr., Louisville
                    CB Joshua Jackson, Jr., Iowa
                    CB Isaiah Oliver, Jr., Colorado
CB Denzel Ward, Jr., Ohio State

As we go through the Senior Bowl, I'll add to this, leading up to my first draft board.

                    Stay tuned!...

Av's Rams Draft Board for Rounds 3-7
                    AvengerRam_old
This is not the typical draft board, as the Rams' first pick will obviously be one of two players, and they don't have another selection until Round 4.

What I've done here is create a list of 30 players who (1) I think would be good fits for the Rams, and (2) might be obtainable either with the picks the Rams currently possess (2 in Round 4, 2 in Round 6) or might be there in the 3rd Round, should the Rams seek to trade up. I've eliminated players that, in my view, have a Top 75 rating, as it is unlikely that the Rams would have a shot at any of those players.

With that explanation, here are the 30 guys on my watch list (I'll try to update it Friday Night to reflect the players who, in fact, are still there. Also, if any of the players I omitted because I didn't think they'd last to Round 4 are still there, I'll add them at that time):
                    1. Pharoh Cooper, WR, South Carolina
                    2. Kenny Lawler, WR, California
                    3. Jordan Payton, WR, UCLA
                    4. Leonte Carroo, WR, Rutgers
                    5. Charone Peake, WR, Clemson
