Barwin, strictly for mentoring & depth purposes and locker room presence.

I wouldn't mind any of those players minus Bryant on 1 year veteran min deal. Anytime you can supplement the roster with a problem veteran nd it doesn't breakthe bank... you do it.

this hotthe Patriots do every year. I suspect you'll see at least 1 veteran picked up after Donald signs his extension.

I know he's not on your list, but Mychal Kendricks was just released by the Eagles. I would definitely be interested in kicking the tires there to see if he could be an option as an ILB for this defense.

Yeah.... Kendricks was not a FA when I posted this, but now that he's on the market, he would be a tempting option, particularly with Barron still recovering from a couple of offseason surgeries.

I'd also give 50/50 odds that Barwin will return. He was apparently seen recently working out with Aaron Donald.

I too would be interested in seeing Kendricks with the Rams. I was liking him for the Rams last year when I read that he wasn't getting the love in Jim Schwartz's 4-3 system as he was thought to be better suited for a 3-4 system like ours. Having said this, I'm not sensing the Rams have the cap space to go after him. We do have Baron and just drafted Micah Kiser for ILB plus Littleton is on the roster already. He'd be great to add, but the money and roster spots may not work.

            Go Rams!

              Rating the Offseason - Part 2: Post-Draft Moves (Poll 5 of 5)
              by AvengerRam
Error in the title... should read Part 5.

There were not too many moves after the draft of any significance, so this could be a tough one.

That said, I promised 5 polls and I intend to deliver! Once the votes are in, I'll post the Clan's Rams Offseason Report Card based on the votes on the 5 polls.

              For this one, I'd consider:

              The trade of Greg Robinson
The failure to sign Trumaine Johnson or Aaron Donald
              The hiring of Brian Xanders
Anything of note that you feel came out of OTAs

So... how would you rate this quiet period?
Getting rid of Robinson alone warrants an A grade!

Five questions regarding Aaron Donald's holdout ..
              by MauiRam
              1) If Aaron Donald sits out the entire 2017 season, is he still a Ram contractually in 2018?

              2) If the answer is yes, and Aaron were to sit out the entire 2018 season, would he then be a free agent?

              3) If he is a free agent at the end of 2018, could the Rams still franchise him?

              4) If the answer is yes, could they franchise him again in 2019?

              5) If the answer to all four questions is yes, is Aaron out of his mind - or is he trying to get traded to another team?...

Aaron Donald has less than 48 hours of leverage
              by AvengerRam
Aaron Donald must report to camp by tomorrow or he will lose a year's credit in the CBA's free agency system. I'm presuming he won't do that, so I expect the holdout to be over soon.

That said, the issue won't be resolved if Donald merely reports to camp without a new contract.

Its hard to have an opinion regarding the situation, as nobody outside of Rams' Park and Donald's inner circle knows what has been offered and what has been demanded.

My opinion, though, is as follows...

IF the Rams are offering a "highest paid DT" contract, despite the fact that Donald is still under his rookie deal for two more years, and Donald is holding out for "highest paid player" money, I'd say Donald is the unreasonable one.

IF theRams aretrying to use Donald's rookie contract as leverage to lock him into a below market value contract, then I'd say the Rams were being unreasonable.

All that said, I really don't expect a long-term problem. Donald is too good a player to let go, and he's not the type of player I'd expect to drag his heels on the field while waiting for a new deal.

My prediction: he'll be signed by 5:00 tomorrow.
