Houston holds first pick in 2002 draft

NEW YORK (March 18, 2002) -- The expansion Houston Texans will make the first choice of the 2002 National Football League Draft on April 20-21 in New York.

The Texans' choice will be followed by the Carolina Panthers picking second and Detroit Lions third.

Draft-order ties are resolved by the cumulative record of each team's opponents. The team with the weaker opponents receives drafting priority.

Within a tied segment, non-playoff clubs are given priority over playoff clubs.

    2011 Strength of Schedule
    by gap
In case anyone is interested in the SoS for 2011, here what I recorded the past few weeks. The SoS number is actually the percentage times 1000. Notice that those teams with the most wins often have the easiest SoS because the teams they beat have less wins. I believe the thing to notice most is the team with the most wins and toughest schedule, or the team with the most losses and the easiest schedule. These would be the Lions and Redskins (respectively), with mentions to the Pack and Jags (respectively).

    TEAM - SOS - WINS - LOSSES
    New Orleans Saints - 441.56 - 13 - 3
    New England Patriots - 449.31 - 13 - 3
    San Francisco ***** - 449.38 - 13 - 3
    Houston Texans - 453.31 - 10 - 6
    Tennessee Titans - 461.06 - 9 - 7
    Green Bay Packers - 468.88 - 15 - 1
    Arizona Cardinals - 469.00 - 8 - 8
    Dallas Cowboys - 472.88 - 8 - 8
    Baltimore Ravens - 476.75 - 12 - 4
    Washington Redskins - 476.75 - 5 - 11
    Atlanta Falcons - 480.69 - 10 - 6
    Philadelphia Eagles - 488.50 - 8 - 8
    Cincinnati Bengals - 492.31 - 9 - 7
    Pittsburgh Steelers - 492.44 - 12 - 4
    Jacksonville Jaguars - 500.13 - 5 - 11
    New York Jets - 500.19 - 8 - 8
    Miami Dolphins - 504.06 - 6 - 10
    Oakland Raiders - 504.06 - 8 - 8
    Carolina Panthers - 504.13 - 6 - 10
    Kansas City Chiefs - 511.81 - 7 - 9

***MOCK GAMBLING***BYE WEEK 9***AugustaRam still on top!
    by MOM
For the bonuses last week, I am having to do some hair splitting, and technicality stuff. I know.....BOOOOOO MOM....lol

    1. Jags had more yards, so that one is cut and dry.
    2. Due to the two times that the Jags turned the ball over on downs, those will count as turnovers. When we add in the fumble and the lone INT, the Rams had a turnover ratio of +1. Jamie Martin was picked off 3 times, no fumbles, and no failed 4th down attempts.
    3. The wording of this one is now bothering me. Furrey DID have a nice fumble recovery, but since it was not made at a time when no one could challenge the call, and the fact that it was not run in for a TD, I have to conclude that it was not a "sneaky grab like last Sunday".
    4. Another easy one as Marshall had 6 rushes for 23 yards.

If anyone has questions on these, feel free to PM me, and I will be glad to talk to you one on one.

To the two newcomers: I started each of you out with $75. Welcome aboard! Anyone else wishing to join is more than welcome to do so, but will start with a $50 bank, starting this week. Good luck, guys!!!
