Today the Eagles cut Jeff Garcia today in order to make room for MLB Jeremiah Trotter, so with our issues at QB and the fact that Garcia has experience in the WCO do we sign him? Keep in mind he'll come cheap, especially since its after the season has officially began, we don't have to pay him for the entire year if he doesn't produce we can cut him at will.

Re: Jeff Garcia
I think due to the way this offensive line is well, offensive, our best chance to score is with a mobile QB. Or more mobile QB. If the Rams had the Patriots O line, definately Bulger. However, we don't even have Mizzou's O line so I think Boller gives the Rams the best chance. However, that's like comparing Keystone Light and Natural Light. Both aren't very appealing.

Re: Jeff Garcia
Bryan Smith has been signed by the Jags off our practice squad so maybe we could drop Null down to our practice squad..(i know its not as simple as that..but i really think its only us who are aware of his potential) we go with Boller & Garcia for the next few weeks then see if our underperforming QB of the last 3 seasons can play better now he`s dinked.... i know.....im not too confident in that happening either.
Garcia knows the terminology and Shurmar has been his position coach..so i`ll leave it to the coaches and Billy D,but i wont be dissappointed if he joined our battered ship..we need all the help we can get even if its just for a month or two..Last edited by Ramblin` Ram; -09-29-2009, 01:56 PM.

Re: Jeff Garcia
Michael Vick is also available. I say get him and run the wildcat with SJax.

Re: Jeff Garcia
If Bulger's injury had been more serious, I think Garcia to the Rams would make more sense. But Bulger could conceivably be back for the Vikings game, so do you sign Garcia for one week? Do you start him with no experience with our personnel over Boller? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, especially since this isn't a "win now" project but a "long term" one.
I think Boller gets the start this week, Null backs him up, and then they reevaluate things after the weekend.

Vick getting traded?
By Mark Miller
“MichaelAfter seeing Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb(notes) run the team for the past two weeks and the little effect Michael Vick(notes) on the team's offense, there is some speculation floating around that the Eagles may look to trade Vick, according to NFL.com. If he doesn't go during this season, he's likely to get dealt during the coming off-season.
Plenty of teams are already having problems at quarterback and have a little more patience to give to the improving Vick than the Eagles do right now. Plus, Vick's contract jumps to $5 million next season and it's unclear whether the folks in Philly would really want to spend that kind of dough if they've got McNabb and Kolb getting the job done.
However, head coach Andy Reid may be too far into the Vick Experiment to give up on it that quickly. And the word is, according to the Philadelphia Daily News, that the team is going to release its fourth-string quarterback, Jeff Garcia(notes), this week.

Note the keywords. Just because it is online, doesn't make it true. Right now Vick is our #3 QB and I don't feel that he will be left go at least not until the end of the season, especially since they just released Garcia.

As for Null being a combo between Bulger's accuracy and Boller's mobility, I'm not sure I see it. Null was said to be pretty accurate in college but his pre-season percentage was 56.2% and he didn't exactly take off and run around for Boller-like gains.
I think people are being a bit too optimistic about Null, simply because there isn't much else to be optimistic about right now. If at some point this season he comes out and shows something on the field, then let's have the conversation. Right now, it just seems a bit premature to me.

which in either of the known cases hasnt set the world alight thus far...
for me personally..id stick with Boller as starter...because of Bulger`s injury it doesnt really leave us with much options for the Niners game atleast.
but i really do think before the season is out..we need to see Null perform in real NFL action to see what we really got with him, even if its just to see if he`s worth keeping as a 2nd or 3rd choice QB to develop or not.
as for Garcia....for one week..its probably not worth it..but i got a feeling this injury with Bulger is gonna stretch out atleast a few more weeks than just one..
