      I knew this thread was coming up.

      But one question. Who was benched against NO last week? I think it started with a T and ended with ye hill. Come on guy even a mediocre player makes a good play sometimes.

            LOL... Dude he wasnt benched.... Tye Hill pulled a muscle on that Colsten TD... The guy is the Falcons starting CB.


            Tye Hill has been solid.... really aggressive and a good tackler.....

            Thomas Dimitroff (atlanta GM) said he did the trade because he scouted Tye Hill when Dimitroff was the Patriots head of scouting department. Belichick and Dimitroff was really high on Tye Hill.

            I just think the guy needed a new scheme and change of scenery.

              I'm posting it because i like Tye Hill he is one of my favorite players in the league

              And im not saying lets get him back, im just saying finally he gets a touchdown

                If I remember correctly, he was taken out because of an injury last week against the Saints.

                Regardless, he made a great play on the interception and an even better play on the return.

                Obviously the Falcons have seen something in him and continue to put him in the lineup. It just paid off, but as you alluded to, we'll see if he continues to play at an improved level or revert to the underachiever we all saw the last few years.

                      Interested me as well, why is it that it seems that almost all of past players find a new team and realizes their potential? Warner, Fletcher,Pickett? D. Lewis, Witherspoon, Manumaleuna, shoot even Fisher is still in the league and playing solid as a nickel corner.....I just don't get it sometimes.

                        It is maddening isn't it? Even seemingly colossal busts like Kennedy and Hargrove are making contributions with new teams. I'd blame it on Shawgmunt, Martz and Linehan, but it appears to be happening to Spags and Devaney too. Hopefully when Spags gets the pieces he wants in place, it'll all be a distant memory.

                          Yup the Falcons GM said that the Patriots were very high on Tye Hill coming out of Clemson so Thomas Dimitroff scouted the guy extensively .... Thomas Dimtroff said Tye Hill is talented but he just felt like he lost his confidence and needed a change of scenery (while getting healthy).... He knew that Tye Hill have talent and potential... Now that the guy is healthy... He is balling

                            It wasn't even his pick. It bounced off someone and he happened to be there. The runback was sick though.

                            Glad to see Tye is doing good things for another team. He just never worked out for us...which pisses me off cuz that was a first round pick which eventually turned into a seventh.

                              Hargrove (remember him?) even scored a TD off a fumble last night for the Saints. And Witherspoon was all over the field leading the Eagles in tackles again.

                              I certainly wish them the best (especially Witherspoon, great player we never should have let go and definitely not for that meager price) - but it's still depressing to see this happening again and again with so many different players. I wonder how many ex-Rams there are overall in the league starting and making significant contributions to better teams than us?

                              I don't regret parting ways with Tye Hill yet though - he has to do A LOT more before I'm convinced we made a mistake there.

                                Hill was beaten for a touchdown by Marques Colston, cramped up and was replaced by Brent Grimes, who later made a great interception. It's unclear who the starter is heading into this week's game against the Redskins.

                                Tye Hill is Dre' Bly waiting to happen...hopefully without the FA departure unless he's worth resigning in the future.

                                Like Bly, Hill is a FAST cornerback but a little undersized. But the ball doesn't care whether you're 5-9, 6-9 or 3-9, as long as you can pick it off. And like Bly, Hill could likely start out as a nickel back who is a nightmare matched up with slot receivers. Hill can stuff the run when needed, too, but he can also get wiped out on sweeps. But that's all right.

                                With a stronger pass rush--hopefully--Hill will likely get some underthrown and poorly thrown passes, negating those bigger receivers being able to catch them/get back to them. Hill has the SPEED to take it to the house as a home run threat every time he gets his paws on it...yeah, he'll drop some easy picks, but a lot of rookies do and even some All-Pros so whatever.

                                Teams like the Cardinals will try to take advantage of Hill in the red zone, with Warner (or Leinart in the near future) throwing up jump balls and fades toward the back corner of the end zone. But overall I think our schemes can get to that QB, keep up with the WR's with tackling help from safeties and linebackers and we'll be fine. Besides, how many good defenses have undersized corners who have good awareness, tackling skills and speed? Plenty.

                                Butler is also undersized, but does that stop him from playing well against taller WR's? Not always.

                                I am excited about Tye Hill, I thought the signing of Fakhir Brown was an indication that we'd trade down and get Greenway or Carpenter. But Travis Fisher's a FA and he could get traded or something, Brown not be more than a backup--an expensive one at that--and Butler may not stay healthy. So this is a strong pick as our future #1 corner who can shut 'em down.
