Why so hyper about Cutler's performnces?

Just thought I'd throw this out there...a lot of folks have been busting on Cutler about his interception ratio and propensity to make ill-advised throws. They say "look at all the INTs he's throwing..."

Well, some of that is understandable. But I'd like to point out that:

• Peyton Manning threw 28 picks his rookie year, and a combined 42 picks his 4th and 5th year. He's a winner.
• Terry Bradshaw threw 73 INTs his first 4 years (14 game seasons too), and it wasn't until his 6th year he threw more TDs than INTs. Seasons 8-11 he threw over 80 INTs. He was a winner, on a great team.
• Marc Bulger once threw 22 INTs, as did Kurt Warner. They were winners.

Does Cutler need to clean it up? Yes. Someday he will, and he'll be a winner too.

But those who say the Rams should be glad we never drafted him just don't know how talented the kid is.

He's got all the tools, and when Chicago gets him some more weapons, he'll be fine.

I would have been just fine with Cutler as a Ram.

ive not heard people say we shouldnt have drafted him..(not saying it hasn`t been said ..just that ive not heard it personally) ive heard plenty of times since the 2006 draft that we shouldnt have passed on Cutler for Tye Hill & Claude Wroten.
Cutler in my opinion is a quality QB..as gifted as say Phillip Rivers,Aaron Rodgers..who i think are very good growing into great QB`s...i am not gonna spend too much time thinking about what could have been tho...as in every draft every team..even the perrenial play off teams have passed on players better than they ended up drafting..im sure there`s plenty of teams who wished they drafted Laurinaitis before us or the 23 teams that passed on Steven Jackson wish they hadnt...
sure overall we have had some horrific drafts in the past..but with the team looking so bad at the moment due to the extensive overhaul of the roster...it wont do any good in keep looking back on previous drafts...new regime in place now and although its early cant say any of the picks we made in April look duds at this point..and thats what great teams do..they dont just focus on the 1st but make good choices to fit their team over the spread of the 7 rounds.

back to Cutler ...the only question marks i have over him being a success in Chicago are if they can get the supporting cast in place to help in perform to his ultimate best..
personally when all healthy i think even our dire Offense this year has more talent outside of the QB position than the Bears have.
i think at the moment the only problem with his performances has been him trying too hard to make plays that arent really there which has resulted in his high number of picks..thats quite understandable..it is a problem..but its more down to the Bears putting him in that position than Cutler in any way becoming a bust or whatever some may think he has suddenly become...i know with some people its his personality more than talent that puts people off him but he certainly is a gamer with balls of steel for still playing the toughest of positions in one of the toughest sports with the serious health condition he has..(type 2 diabeties)

He actually has type 1 diabetes which is worse but isn't that tough to live with if treated. You just need daily insulin shots. It must've been tough for him to play the 2007 season though with it being undiagnosed at that time.

The problem with Cutler is that people overated the Bears roster and expected the team to be a team competing for the superbowl. They don't have any playmakers on offense and have a pretty terrible offensive line. The Bears defense isn't what it used to be either. The expectations were way too high and the talent around him isn't good enough to succeed in the first place.

He does need to cut down on the questionable throws though. Especially the ones in the redzone.

i often mix up the types of diabeties up..i knew he had the one that requires insulin shots..just get the types mixed up.
i think both diabeties are serious personally..certainly more than a lot of people consider...e.g. problems with the pancreas,vision,circulation,de-hydration etc..

The Bears gave WAY too much for him. Cutler benefited greatly from throwing to one of the best groups of WRs from behind possibly the best line. He's not anywhere near what they thought he would be. Two first rounders, a third rounder, and Kyle Orton?! Orton hasn't done too much worse than Cutler for the Broncos, and did better with Chicago. Orton for Cutler may not have been a good trade for Chicago by itself. Getting the three picks makes that what could possibly be one of the most lopsided trades in NFL history.

Simply put, Jay Cutler's struggles in Chicago are a good example of how even a talented quarterback needs tools around him to be successful.

Cutler has all the physical talent in the world, but his mental skills are almost non-existent. It's pretty much accepted that he's a whiner and a cry-baby, but more importantly, he's been a horrible clutch performer so far in his career. One needs to look no further than last year's Bronco's, who were 8-5 with three games to go, needing a single victory to win the division. How did Cutler respond in those three critical games? He threw for 2 TD's and served up 4 interceptions as the Bronco's lost all three games, lost the division to a Chargers team that was all but dead and buried, and failed to make the playoffs, again.

Maybe he can turn it around, but judging by what he's done in Chicago, I won't hold my breath.

Well, I'll say we shouldn't have drafted him.

• Peyton Manning's TD-INT ratio improved over time, rather than getting worse.
• Kurt Warner threw 36 touchdowns in the season you referenced, almost twice as many as Cutler has so far.
• Given what Bulger has accomplished without his Pro Bowl receivers, he might not be the best example to argue Cutler's case, either.

So far it looks like Kyle Orton did as well or better with the Bears and has a better QB rating this season with the Broncos than Cutler ever did.
