Our beloved Kurt Warner has retired this off season and there has been alot of talk about when he is eligible to be inducted into the HOF which I don't think I've heard any analyst say no he shouldn't be inducted when he's eligible but think about this if Favre does deside to retire this offseason that means in five years Favre and Warner will be eligible and you know how the HOF voters feel about letting in two payers that play the same position at the same time or year in... Obviously Favre will be let in first time but you guys think Kurt will get the bad end of the stick for years to come after this? I dont' know if many of you have thought about this but that is the first thing I thought about when he announced he retired!!

Re: Warner or Favre HOF?
If the QB is a first ballot HOFer, then it seems it depends simply on when they retire. The last 4 QBs to be inducted were Dan Marino, Steve Young, Warren Moon and Troy Aikman. In 2005, Marino and Young went in together. In 2006 Moon and Aikman went in together. All went in on their first ballot. Favre and my boy Warner are both sure first ballot HOFers.

Warner SHOULD be a 1st ballot HOFer.
That said, reading comments on Warner from the writters who vote, I'd be willing to bet they put aside any silly "rules" about who gets in, when or why, and elect him in his first year of elegibility. His impact on the game has been too significant to discount. He's part of NFL history, part of NFL lore, and has the accomplishments to substantiate it all.

Re: Warner or Favre HOF?
While I love Warner and all that he did as a Ram, you just cant look at him and say first ballot hall of famer. Yes he played in three Super Bowls and yes he won one of them. He also had years where he did absolutely nothing. He also had the benefit of playing with four GREAT wide receivers in Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Larry Fitzgerald, and Anquan Boldin. Not too mention all the other decent wide receivers such as Ricky Proehl, Az-Zahir Hakim, Bryant Johnson, and Early Doucet.
With all that talent and the pass happy offenses that he played in, it's not suprising that he put up some of the numbers that he did. Now I dont believe most QBs would have done as well, but it's hard to believe that they wouldnt have found some success playing with such great wide receivers.
What it comes down to with me is the doghnut effect that his career takes on. When he was on, he was on. But there were years there where you had a hard time telling that he was even in the league.
I think he is a Hall of Famer. But to go in on the first ballot is a special honor reserved for those on the Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, and Joe Montana level. And yes for all the Brett Favre haters, he is on that level. Warner will make it. But the years where he was irrelevant make it hard to argue him as a first ballot guy.

Re: Warner or Favre HOF?
Warner didn't get his start in the NFL until he was 28 years old as he stepped on the field only because of an injury. Then he had 3 seasons where he dealt with a career ending injury and worked his way back. Everything was stacked against the guy and he still became one of the greatest QBs in the history of the league. If they don't vote him in on the first ballot, their souls are dead.
Oh yeah, toss in the fact that Warner took two of the worst franchises in the league to the Superbowl.
