  • Harvey Martin and Dick Schapp

Harvey Martin died in Dallas Christmas Eve at the age of 51 to pancreatic cancer. #79 of the Dallas Cowboys was one of the most tenacious defensive lineman to ever play the game. He and Randy White totally dominated Craig Morton of the Denver Broncos so much that they were voted co-mvp of the Super Bowl that year.

Also, one of my heroes, Dick Schaap, also died due to complications of hip replacement surgery. Schaap was a noted journalist who spoke the truth and if anyone watched the Sports Reporters on ESPN Sunday Mornings knew the wit and sharpness of this man. Voted for Jim Brown in the Heisman Trophy race after Brown had at that time the best year ever in the history of NCAA football. When Brown lost the Heisman vote, Schaap didn't vote for over 20 years.
