  • Proud to be a Rams Fan

    :helmet:

Being a Rams fan is great. You guys show so much class congradulating the Patriots. Do you know on alot of the Patriot websites, it is filled with cussing and anger from Raider fans. a raider fan went so far as to make his own website www.snowjob2002.com. i agree Rams fans are laid back, but we should get a little more rowdy, not violent and mean, but more into it. i'm a die hard old school la rams fan, so it makes me vomit when i see preppies chatting on their cell phone wearing new rams jerseys. am i mad about the rams moving to st. louis. no. mad about the color change. yes! be careful rams, the media loves you now, but they will turn. they pretty much insulted the crap out of us the whole '90s. two questions for ANYONE? why are raider fans mean nasty complaining violent people? and can someone tell me where the heck i can get old school rams gear????:helmet:

The media probably insulted the crap out of us for the whole 90s because we were - to be blunt - crap.
When the colour change was first made I wasn't too happy, either. I had always loved the Rams uniform, especially the white away jersey.
But the new style has grown on me and I wouldn't go back now.

man I loved those old uniform colours. The red and the black went well together, made us look like a real men

then they went to that horrible yellow ???? what was that about?

OK, being serious :mask: I thought the blue and white was the best uniform the Rams had.

I will let you into a wee secret, they amost went back to the blue and white, but the NFL wanted the colours we have now.

Georgia, wanted to change to red and blue.

Uni Watch interviews Rams longtime equipment manager Todd Hewitt
        by JFMose

Uni Watch » Uni Watch Profiles: Todd Hewitt

As many of you know, the Rams fired longtime equipment manager Todd Hewitt back in January. Today we have an extensive interview with him, but it wasn’t conducted by me. It was done by football historian Robert Harvell, whose photo archives have been featured here on the site many times.
Robert interviewed Todd last month, and the resulting transcript was recently posted over on Helmet Hut. But Robert and Helmet Hut honcho Curtis Worrell both felt that the interview deserved to be published here at Uni Watch as well. After reading it, I wholeheartedly agreed.
As you’ll see, the interview has nothing to do with Todd’s firing. That’s another topic for another day. This is all about the work he did with the Rams, the team’s uniform history, and so on. It’s really good stuff — enjoy.
Robert Harvell: Todd, when did you start working for the Rams?
Todd Hewitt: Well, my dad was hired by the Rams in 1967. I was 11 years old at the time and helped out in the locker room and was a ball boy. In 1978, I was officially hired by the Rams as Assistant Equipment Manager and continued to work with my dad until his retirement in 1984. In 1985, I took over as Rams Equipment Manager, although my dad remained with the team as Equipment Manager Emeritus through 1994, the Rams’ final year in Los Angeles. In 1995, the Rams relocated to St. Louis. My dad joined us there for one final year. So all told, I was with the Rams for 44 years and have worked under 14 different Rams head coaches! Funny, I still remember when the Packers came to town in 1967, my first year with the team. I walked down the Coliseum tunnel flanked by Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr!
RH: How many hours per week would you put in once camp began?
TH: Let’s put it this way: Once camp started I definitely spent more time at work than at home. In at 5am, leave at 7pm, seven days a week. The only day I’d take off during the season is the Sunday of the bye week. The players’ day off was a treat, because I’d “only” work from 5am to 4:30pm. But I made up for that on game day, especially when we returned from road games, often working very late. It wasn’t unusual for me to spend the night at work after road games. During the off-season I typically worked five days a week, from 6am to 4:30pm.
RH: Like most teams, the Rams have changed their uniform color schemes over the years. Do you have a favorite?
TH: Honestly, I like them all. For sentimental reasons, I really like the blue and white. But I would have to say that my favorite color scheme was what we wore from 1973-1999, the blue and yellow, what we wore when we won the Super Bowl. In fact, when we wore those colors again for a throwback game, I realized just how much I missed them, they were just so vibrant. I really like the current uniforms as well, but they are so much darker than what we wore before....

        Fan of the white pants?
        by LA Rammer
Getting excited about this year! Looking back at last years schedule I notice those white pants used excessively. I am not a fan of these, as a matter of fact I hate them. Who else feels the same?

        A losing season...a perspective.
        by RamsFanSam
I have never experienced a season with less than a .500 record. I now know what the long-time Rams fans have lived through.
It sucks. I must endure the tauntings of Hawks fans, Pats fans, Colts fans, and Broncos fans, among others. I'll wear my Rams jersey and have people pointing and laughing. My 'friends' will give me a lot of crap until next season.
I will endure. I will not hang my head in shame. I will research the potential draft picks. I'll prognosticate on our chances for 2006.
I will be proud. I will hold my head up. I will remember that this is only one year. I will wear the Blue and Gold.
I will be a Rams Fan.
And next year I will rub it in their faces...because I AM a RAMS FAN!

Rams, fans stuck with bad uniforms for at least one more season

        May 3, 2018
        Alden GonzalezESPN Staff Writer

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Rams have the team, guided by the coach, while playing in the city -- but they still don't have the uniforms.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans have all unveiled new uniforms this offseason, but the Rams' look has remained status quo -- a clunky concoction of what remains from St. Louis and what might lie ahead in Los Angeles.

Jerseys are a big deal, here and everywhere. And in L.A., Rams fans are really only satisfied with the laundry during those rare times when their team wears throwback, blue-and-yellow uniforms, a nod to the prior stint in L.A. that has proven to be far easier on the eyes. On other weeks, the Rams simply don't match. Their jerseys have gold, but their pants and helmets do not. It looks off, and it's even worse when they're forced to switch from white to blue jerseys on the road.

The Rams know this, and, well, they're working on it. But it takes time, and there isn't a whole lot they can do about it now. Fans will have to stomach the current incarnation of uniforms for at least one more season. The Rams might announce more details about this process at some point this summer. In the meantime, here are answers to some questions about a topic that continues to seem pressing in this market.

When are the new uniforms coming out?

Either in 2019 or 2020. That has not been firmed up. The original plan was to roll them out in 2019, because that's when the new stadium was set to open. But then that stadium got delayed a year, and now the Rams are staring at two options with their new uniforms. They can unveil them as soon as possible, to quickly rid themselves of a uniform combination that clashes. Or they can wait to roll everything out in concert with the opening of an opulent new facility that they will share with the Los Angeles Chargers. A complete rebranding, if you will. The Rams see benefits with both options.

Where are the Rams in their process?

They are working with the NFL and with Nike, specifically going through branding exercises. That's how this typically works. Teams first define what they will stand for, basically, and sometimes rally behind a catch phrase ("Rise Up" by the Atlanta Falcons, for example). From that, the logo and the colors will sprout, uniforms and other apparel serving as the visual extension of it all. Everything remains on the table for the Rams, whether it's a tweak in the logo or a change in the color scheme. In L.A., fans are clamoring for an incorporation of blue and yellow. But blue and white might also be in the mix. It's hard to see the Rams venturing outside of that.

Why didn't they just change them already?

The Rams didn't begin the process of overhauling their uniforms until...

Cleveland to L.A. to St. Louis okay....but georgia...please change the colors back!!
        by CalRamsFan75
Hi everyone. I'm new to this messageboard. I am a big Rams fan originally from southern california. Believe it or not, I really did not care when the Rams moved to St. Louis. But one thing did piss me off, the new ram look!! it is sick. now i hate and loathe the chokeland faders more than any team in the nfl, but i give them credit for one thing, they stuck to their uniform. blue and yellow is the rams greatest color!! i hate that new color!! words cannot express how much their new uniforms make me sick. i have tried to give it a chance now for a year and the verdict is, it sucks! take a look back at Merlin Olsen, or Fred Dryer, or even warner in '99. Does that not look more classic??? i guess i am complaining too much. anyways, i won't talk this much normally. one more thing to say. mike martz is an arrogant jerk. rams fans, this punk is on his own personal quest for glory. maybe some of you might agree, maybe some might tell me another thing, but something tells me, if we still had dick vermeil..............3 superbowl rings jack! i hope that martz can get his head out of his butt. it's not everyday a team can have the weapons the Rams have. and believe me....i had to put up with so much "lambs" crap and ram bashing, but it was all worth it for my '99rams. GO BACK TO THE OLD RAMS UNIFORM AND KICK BUTT!!!!!! i'm looking forward to seeing the rams destroy the raiders next season. raider hating is another passion of mine, besides rooting for the rams. see ya!
