  • Offseason joke--Clanram related :-)

A guy walks into a bar and asks the bartender what he thinks the best football site on the internet is. Bartender responds with "GridIron Gateway of course". The man looks over the bar and says "haven't you heard? The whole site has VD!!" Bartender asks; "VD, isn't that a sexual thing?" The guy explains to the bartender, "not in this case. In this case VD is Vast Desertion".

"Interestingly, the two others also were running backs. Jerome Bettis skipped the first two weeks of camp in 1995, and was fined $4,000 per day per league rule.

Bettis never did get the contract extension he sought and was traded to Pittsburgh during the 1996 draft after just one season in St. Louis..."

"Is that enough time to get Jackson ready? You can lift all the weights and run all the sprints in the world, but the only way to get into "football shape'' is by practicing football.

Even a young player such as Jackson, 25, will need awhile to get up to speed.

"Oh yeah, it'll take him a few weeks," former Rams coach Dick Vermeil said Monday during his visit to camp. "I don't know what they'll do. But I would bet they'll temper his play early, and he won't be a 30-carry guy on opening day if he's back by then."

Coach Scott Linehan, ever the optimist, isn't ready to concede that his opening-day game plan needs to be altered because of Jackson's holdout..."

i am just going to say out loud what a lot of people have been floating around in the back of the minds...

As a result of this long holdout the Rams organization may not finish negotiations until after presason games or worse yet fail to extend jackson's contract, leaving Stl with a huge hole in there offense. the single worst thing that can happen during a negotiation process is, no negotiations.

As history dictates the Rams maybe be looking for a new RB in the 09 draft or free agency to challenge Jackson down the road if no extension is agreed upon. IMO if no solid contract agreement comes to pass then Jackson may become a free agent and a huge asset to teams like miami, new york, and worse yet dallas; which i'm sure jerry jones would waste no time giving him a contract that LT would envy.

The absense of Jackson in stl would leave the teams in the bottom 20 teams in the league with no real offense and a young developing defense.

(the consequences of not having a plan B if there is no Steven Jackson for upcoming season are horrendous.)

I just hope this situation teaches the organization a lesson, that an entire team and season should not hing on one player in a team sport.

    Post-draft web site links?
    by RAMarkable
Does anybody know of a draft website that has the following info available:
1.) Complete list of all 7rds in order of selection

2.) List of all the trades for both days

3.) List of players drafted by each team

My local newspaper used to provide this info after the draft concluded; but they are apparently too busy with their Socialist, collectivist and globalist agenda to report anything like this anymore.
Any links ya'll have is greatly appreciated!!
