Horny Ram, i like the inclusion of some of our great blockers on the list. In that vein i would include james the hammer hodgins, tight end david hill and of course The Big Man, orlando pace (remember the block in the last game of the season against detroit?).

                Thank you,

Offensive guys hit people too, so I figured they deserved some props as well. The Big O has definately pancaked a few during his time with our Rams.

We've had many hard hitters, but my favorites were Jack Reynolds and Isiah Robertson. Man, they were skull crushers!

Good call. The Night Train was a nasty tackler.

                                rams all time greats-defensive ends
                                by general counsel
While there are great debates in which to engage regarding our all time greats at various positions, i dont think defensive end is one of them. I believe it is indisputable that our two all time greatest defensive ends were jack youngblood and deacon jones. Deacon potentially qualifies among the five meanest and brutal players in the history of the game (butkus, lambert, maybe ray lewis or LT)

Other notables over the years would include andy robustelli, larry brink and leonard little, but i think that youngblood and deacon stand alone.

                                by general counsel
I picked up a great item last night that i wanted to share with you guys. I bought Deacon Jones' last passport. It's really cool, but what makes it especially unique is that the signature inside is "David Deacon Jones" rather than Deacon Jones. I have dozens of Deacon signatures and did a lot of signings with him over the years, but i could never get him to sign the name David. This is likely the only known David Deacon Jones original signature that has been available on the open market in the last several years. This came directly from his family, the provenance is flawless.

                                Greatest linebackers in Rams history
                                by general counsel
In evaluating my all time greatest Rams team, linebacker is one position i typically struggle with. I believe that the answer is probably this:

mlb: Hacksaw Reynolds (or London Fletcher)
                                olb: Isaih Robertson
                                OLB: Les Richter

Other guys to consider include Jack Pardee and Kevin Greene (who i think of as an excellent pass rusher, but not really a great all around linebacker). By the time we got Maxie Baughan he was past his prime and Bill George was way past his prime by the time he played for the Rams.

I can never decide between Hacksaw and Fletcher and i suspect that i am a bit biased by my only personal childhood view.

I invite comment and criticims, and am very much aware that the majority of people on this board never saw Robertson or Reynolds play (and i believe that none of us have seen Richter play, but he was truly a superstar in his era so i dont see how he could be off the list).

rank the following three rams former players in terms of "all time great rams"

The criteria is both performance and longevity. Are any, all or some combination of these three guys all time great rams.

All time great Ram dies today-RIP Jack Pardee
                                by general counsel
Jack Pardee died today at age 76. Pardee is one of the all time great Rams linebackers. He played 169 games for us from 1957-1970. In terms of where he stands in all time great Rams outside linebackers, i would put him behind Isiah Robertson, but would certainly be in consideration with all others (including Maxie Baughan, Pisa, Jim Youngblood and possibly Kevin Greene, but i personally think he was really just a pass rusher and was overated as an all around linebacker). From an inside linebacker standpoint, you have to consider Les Richter, Hacksaw Reynolds and Carl Ekern (all ahead of London Fletcher, although hopefully James Laurainitis will join that group some day with enough longevity and top tier performance). As a side note, i count Don Paul more of a center than a linebacker, although he would be worthy of a mention as well.

In any event, RIP Jack Pardee and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
