Re: Give Us Your Input For Next Year's Clannies
I don't mind the idea of having Mods and Admin ineligible next year. I will point out, though, that in the 6 categories in which a poster was awarded a Clannie, only 2 were won by Mods/Admin.
I think it would be cool, though, if we had a whole new list of nominees a year from now, including new posters who recently joined or join during this coming season.Last edited by AvengerRam_old; -06-28-2004, 10:18 AM.

Originally posted by Evil Disco ManThat would be cool, but since we probably won't get enough new prominent posters (at least enough to take over all the nominations) for that to happen, maybe we could have some kind of "Newbie" category.

Re: Give Us Your Input For Next Year's Clannies
As to whether or not the Mods should be eligible, I think they should. Besides the Mod stuff they do, they also are very productive members. Look back over the last year, delete all the threads started by TX, Dez, AR, JRams and what is left over is pretty slim (although still good quality). Taking the mods out just thins the pool and makes the award less important.
I do understand that some people could feel they have to vote for mods, but with the people and mods we have here, I don't that is really going to be a problem...This space for rent...

Hubison (gotta come up with a nickname for you),
Actually, as far as I can remember, those two haven't started as many as those I listed. Beside's, it's only 8 a.m. here and I haven't had enough caffeine yet...This space for rent...

Re: Give Us Your Input For Next Year's Clannies
Here's my take on the "should Mods be eligible for awards" question. I ran some numbers from the home page and here's what I found. Moderators make up 0.67% of the membership, but 32.2% of the posts. IMHO, I think with that much on-board activity, they should certainly be eligible for the Clannies. Not to mention, it's the other 99.33% of us that vote on those awards. Just my thoughts. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Re: Give Us Your Input For Next Year's Clannies
You are going to have to tell me sometime Avenger just what you (and Dez) meant by "controversial".
1st issue. Short term memory loss. It's hard to keep track of who posts, doesn't post frequently, etc ... I suspect I benefited from your early endorsement. It put a name out there without having to look back thru posts to see who said what. So if there were some way of summarizing the activity of posters at the end of one year and list all of them then maybe you might get a broader pool of candidates to choose from.
2nd issue. It is quite democratic to require a 2nd in order to get on a ballot, but maybe it wouldn't hurt to include every name that is nominated in each category.
3rd issue. And well ... best thread ... you really need to list all of them or get rid of the category or define what is meant by best ... funniest, most engaging, most popular, blah, blah ... there was no way in helll I was going to remember the title of the thread
