  • Im Sorry To Say It But........

Before i say this i am a die hard rams fan but this is what i really think

we really are not a good team and we really do not have a good OFFENSE, yes i said OFFENSE, i mean say what you will about stats but look at the colts, their defense is almost worse than ours and they give up more yards on the ground but they still win constantly, while our offense puts up good stats we still cant out score teams and we cant execute when we need to, our offense has the same type of players as the colts too (manning, bulger harrison, holt) i guarantee you if the chiefs would have scored 31 on the colts, the colts would have scored atleast 40, our offense is mediocre and it really cant help us win games, we need to fix our defense or we will be suffering a long time
    What do you think???

But we don't have exactly all the same players, particularly O-line, look, last year they had EDGE who was awsome, this year they have 2 no name running backs who are putting up some pretty decent numbers, a huge part of the colts O, is that their O-line is VERY GOOD. Our oline can't even compare, but besides that fact you are pretty much on target, good post

well the colts line is very good but it really is not much better than ours, i mean we dont exactly give up that much sacks and jackson is getting pretty decent yards behind our O-Line(he is 5th in the league in rushing), its just because the colts execute and we dont, they score when they need to just like we should, but i do believe we a have a mediocre offense

SJ 5th in the league in rushing is very misleading. As a team, we are 23rd in the league in rushing. Not exactly stellar.

            Uh, excuse me....

The Rams are 10th in scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 22.5 points per game. That's hardly "mediocre". If you're going to compare us to the best, compare us to the Chargers, who lead the lead in scoring offense, not the Colts. :x

Wow, their O line is MUCH better than ours. Bulger has been sacked 24 times, and Manning has been sacked 10 times. Jackson is basically getting his yards with little help from the O Line, while the Colts have a rookie and a second string RB at best getting similar numbers that Edge was getting. There is no comparison between the two lines.

I have a feeling Marshal will use the same game plan he did with the Rayduhs. Keep the QB on his butt, or our suspect secondary will get destroyed by big time receiver. (moss/holt).

Hopefully we can protect Bulger better than the Raders did Walter.

Regarding the first post, I have eernal optimism about the Rams winning each game.

Well, for example. The Colts-Pats game. Colts got what, 4 turnovers? How many did the Chiefs get? It's hard to win games with turnovers, you see it every now and then with the Bears against Arizona, but it was pure luck...

Yeah I Agree With Most Of The Guys You Have To Remember That The O-line Plays A Huge Role In This Game The Only Good Lineman Would Be Orlando Pace And He Can't Do All The Workif We Don't Get Good Protection Good Things Don't Happen Our Offense Is Good It Just Needs To Know How To Get That Ball In The Inzone More Times

Bulger actually gets sacked quite a bit. I don't see how anyone can say our line is "good." The rest of the offense is just fine.

I have to disagree, there's nothing wrong with our offense. I would also put the group of Manning,Harrison and Wayne slightly ahead of our trio of Bulger,Holt and Bruce.

True the Colts O-line may be better than ours but to say "MUCH" is a stretch in my opinion. Peyton Manning is the ultimate manager of an NFL offense. It's his ability to read and react at a split second that allows the Colts offense to fly so high. The O-line 9 times out of 10 doesn't have to protect as long because of Mannings intelligence of the game. The Colts are one of the few teams that actually set up the run off their prolific passing game. So to sum this up, again I don't set the Colts O-line that far above ours.

                                How to Beat the Colts
                                by SwingOnDeez
What I see for Monday Night is a next-to impossible situation for the Rams:

A solid offense and a poor defense (Rams)
                                vs.
A great offense and a solid defense (Colts)

I say "solid defense" for the Colts just to be safe. Some would say that the 29 points we've given up in 5 games means that we're far better on defense than merely "solid," but I'll be conservative.

                                So....

This game is not impossible for the Rams, just darn close.

In my humble estimation, the following must occur for the Rams to win:

                                1) The Rams must get ahead early and make the Colts come from behind. "Duh," you may say, but seriously, you can't play catch-up against the Colts. Our D is good enough to slow you down, and our running and short passing games are good enough to keep the clock running.

Furthermore, if you're behind, you must pass. Then Mr. Freeney comes to town. (FYI, Robert Mathis, our other speed rushing end has more sacks than Freeney). Getting yourselves into obvious passing situations is dangerous, because we have the best 4-man pass rush in the game. Bulger will have some passing yards, but they can't be in a comeback effort, or there's no hope.

                                2) Bring your defense up and force Peyton to beat you long. No one has done this yet, and Edge has eaten defenses alive. Everyone plays bump the WR's, then get BACK. No one seems to notice Peyton's problem of overthowing receivers on long routes. They see the Indy offense and the great WR's and think that you have to allow the short pass and the run to take away the deep ball. I'd send the house and make Peyton throw long. He can self-destruct.

                                3) Don't get forced into stupid turnovers. The Colts Defense is not the stiffling, pound you into the ground, iron monster that other successful defenses have been. The Colts have speed, and they force preventable turnovers. Take the sack, throw out of bounds, get down instead of risking a fumble. Our linebackers are STILL mediocre. Cato June has 2 INTS and 2 TD's. You can't tell me he's a Pro Bowler, but yet, offenses are making him look like he is. Granted, you have to take risks to beat a better team, but if Bulger can just get through the gae without throwing a stupid interception or putting the ball on the ground, he will GREATLY increase the Ram's chances.

                                4) Don't miss field goals. Enough Said.

                                5) Don't onside kick. The Titans and 49'ers thought this would be a good idea. It's not. All it does is tell your players, "Well boys, we have no chance of stopping them, so let's just throw in all our chips now and get out of here early."

                                6) Throw Deep. Particularly if one side of our secondary is Jason David and Mike Doss, we aren't a shut-down secondary. Why the hell haven't the 1st 5 teams thrown deep on these guys? Challenge them. They will screw...

Heres the thing, everyone is talking about the Colts D and how the Rams could easily get blown out. Well the way I see it, the Colts D hasn't played ANYBODY yet. The Colts have played Baltimore's ridiculous offense, Jacksonville who are just OK on offense nothing spectacular, Cleveland nuff said there lol, Tennessee who really have lost a step or two, and the Whiners with a ROOKIE QB in his first start. So yes the Colts D have looked great but wait untill they play some offensive minded teams before calling them the 85 Bears. Until the Colts shut down some REAL offenses it's really hard to say the Colts D is for real. I would say they are improved but they haven't proved anything yet.

Let's be clear about the Colts and our D
                                by HUbison
Yea, they kinda sucked stopping the run in the regular season (21st overall, 32nd rushing, 2nd passing, 23rd overall).

But they were OFF-THE-CHAIN good in the postseason (1st overall, 2nd rushing, 2nd passing, 2nd scoring).

The D that won the Super Bowl wasn't the same D that got them through the regular season. For example, Dwight Freeney all-of-a-sudden looked like a run stopping animal once the January football started.

I don't think we can hold up Indy as the model of a team that can show up without their D and win it all. Truth is, once the win-or-go-home season started, their D showed up big time.

The point spread 13 1/2 is suspiciously low almost looks like a TRAP. The odds makers want you to jump all over the Colts. The RAMS are in disarray with the Martz situation, and not playing well on D. I've got a sneaky suspicion that this will be a lot closer then you would think. I'm not going to say the RAMS will win outright, but I do believe it will be close, with the RAMS having a chance to win late.:O
