  • What NFC West team are you most worried about?

Out of the Tards, Squawks, and Whiners, who should we most fear this season?

It seems every season, the cardinals are going to have a delightful season, and with all the wonderful drafts, they still wind up stinking up the whole league. Mind you, I think this season they will be a big threat.

The Seahawks are still technically the kings of the NFC West, and until we reclaim our throne, it is theirs. That in my opinion is our #1 least for boosting confidence, is to beat the Seahawks...

The ***** and Frank Gore look to be even more of a threat. They had a decent season, and surprisingly are looking to become a good team, although I hate to admit it, I think that may be the case... (Why can't they always suck!? )

So...yes it is way too early to be making predictions like this, but what else is there to do but ponder about our Rams?

I think next season, if our cards are right, we're definitely reclaiming our rightful throne in the West. However, I doubt we'll be able to get a 1st round bye by any means with the schedule we have this season. It looks like a very difficult one, something...well we're not really used to. It can go either two ways, we're glorious, or chumps. I see (if everything goes according to plan...)

    1. Rams 10-6
    2. Seahawks 9-7
    3. Cardinals 9-7
    4. ***** 8-8, 9-7, perhaps

    What do you guys think?
Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

It's hard to form a solid opinion before free agency and the draft.

The team that I am most worried about is the Niners. They improved this year and played better on both sides of the ball. Plus they got a good coach that is taking them (unfortunately) in the right direction.

I would say the Seahawks are still the team to beat. Let's not forget the key personnel injuries they had to deal with last season. If they comeback 100% healthy they will be our biggest challenge.:r

Well said. I agree. And yet, it seems the whacky whiners are coming strong offensively. With Gore and their QB Smith, they seem to pose a serious threat equal to -- or a tad bit more than -- Seattle.

We MUST regroup even stronger for 2007! :r GO RAMS!

The Arizona Cardinals, maybe not in 2007 but beyond that, watch out.

Wisenhunt is not the one that worries me but the hire of Russ Grimm shows me two things

1 The Bidwills are opening up their pocket book for good assistants, finally
2 Grimm will cure the Cardinals of their Oline problems in 2 seasons.

AZ Cardinals with a good Oline, decent D, really good young WRs and QB and throw in Edge? Yes, I fear they are going to finally be for real, soon.

Re: What NFC West team are you most worried about?

I was thinking about this a little while ago. Most people considered the NFC West the worst division in football this year and rightfully so. But it may well be the best division this next year. The whiners are improving each season, the cards finally have some solid coaching to go along with their talent, and Seattle already went to a SB with their core of talent. This division is going to be tough to win the next 5 years or so.

I am most worried about the RAMS. Can we and will we make the move that takes us to the next level.

Pick your poison. Going into this offseason everyone is a conteder.

Guess, what really matters is who has the better offseason.

If it's easy (NFC West), it ain't worth winning.

Re: What NFC West team are you most worried about?

If we can build a solid Defense, like top 15, we can beat any of those teams any time....the key word is "IF", so It's really hard to say. I think the offense is in place, granted we could still use at least 1 more solid guard. Without some key off-season acquisitons, it's kind of too early to tell. The ******ers improved,I'll give them that. Can they repeat that performance or even better that is the question. Every year is a new Year. I agree that the Seahacks are still the class of the West. Until we beat them, and convincingly, we are going nowhere. Sort of like when we had to beat the ******ers when Kurt stepped in in 1999.

I do not fear any of them. They can all F themselves. We are the Rams, dammit, and we take on all comers.

And with good reason, we shouldn't fear them, anyone, you're right. We just need to make more positive progress.

Re: What NFC West team are you most worried about?

Eventually, the Tards are gonna have to wake up out of thier mediocrity. They are simply to to young, to talented, and get to high of draft picks to continue to suck this bad.

The Squaks were in decline this year and are only gonna get worse through FA and the aging of Alexander and Hasselcrack.

The Niners could improve but that Im not sold on Alex Smith and there defense yet, but I will say that Gore is a hell of a back and Nolan is a hell of a coach.

Im also worried about the Russ Grimm hiring. The one thing that has been slowing the Cards offense down is its lack of a decent OL. Now Grimm is there he could change that.

Re: What NFC West team are you most worried about?

I'm not too worried about the Cardinals just yet. They don't strike me as a team that's about to pull it all together, and even a good coach's first year may be rough when major changes are required. The Seahawks still have a strong core of players in their prime right now, so they're still the biggest obstacle to NFC West supremacy, but Nolan is doing a good job rebuilding the *****, too. I guess I'd rate the teams right about the same way they finished 2006. Really the standings haven't changed much at all in the last four years, and I'm not expecting a major shift this year.

Two and a half weeks into the new season and the best conclusion I can come to about the state of affairs?

                                This must be Hollywood.

There are more sub-plots and scandals, more topsy-turvy oddities, and more budding Cinderella stories than can be found at the original Mickey Mouse Club auditions.

If Walt were alive, he’d be rolling over in his grave.

As advertised, our NFC West teams have commenced to knocking the crap out of each other, almost like the only feasible movie script that could be applied here. This division is as much up for grabs now as it was two weeks ago.

If I had just woke up from a month-long coma, it wouldn’t surprise me a bit to find out that the San Francisco ***** have the same record as the Houston Texans and the Detroit Lions. But I’d probably hock up a parakeet when I learned that they all are sitting at the tops of their divisions with 2-0 records.

                                Is it a fluke?

Here in the West are housed four of the best running backs in the league. Arguably the two best quarterbacks in the NFC, and a selection of wide receivers that would send any newbie offensive coordinator back to having wet dreams, and any opposing “D” man back to AA. And to top it all off, with all this fire-power that resides in this one division, the undefeated team has exactly one of these players, and hasn’t even put up more than 190 yards of offense in either “victory.”

Suggestion? Let the movie play out.

Assessment? We got this. Is that a bold assessment? Not really when you consider this.

It’s a game of inches. About six more of them off the foot of Wilky’s leg would have taken away one of the Niner’s victories, and had they not had an extra layer of skin on their teeth, the Cardinals would have taken away the other.

Mike Nolan has got to be sweating more than Mike Vick watching Old Yellar.

In the mean-time, those same Cardinals beat up on the Seahawks for the great majority of that victory, and come this week, the rest of their confidence will be shot – at home – at the hands of Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson.

If you look at it reasonably and rationally, the only teams that appear to have more upside headed their way than down are the Rams and the Cards and I still don’t see the Cards pulling it out in the first year with their new coach.

The Rams on the other hand are making positive strides with the defense, and Marc Bulger and the boys will be exploding very quickly.

Who knows, maybe all of these teams will finish under .500, but I doubt it.

But one thing I do know is that Hollywood has invaded the NFL, the Rams have been written in as the sucker-punch, and the 'Niners division title is about as likely as O.J Simpson buying a ten-speed and going Mormon.

People have been calling the NFC West the weakest division in the NFL for years now. They can say what they want, but the fact is that the West has represented the NFC in 4 of the last 10 Super Bowls, more than any other division.

I don't know about you guys, but I enjoy rooting for other West teams in the playoffs to represent us well. If we can't beat 'em out during the season, I'd rather see them take it all the way than any other team. The only exception for me was rooting for the Steelers vs. Seahawks, only because I personally can't stand Hasselbeck, but I was pulling for them throughout the playoffs up to that point.

If you find it difficult rooting for our West rivals in the playoffs, remember that one benefit of other West teams making it far in the playoffs (or esp. into the SB) is that their roster and coaching staff is usually raided by other teams afterward, boding well for the Rams in following seasons.

                                Go NFC West!

                                NFC WEST Power Ranking
                                by Ram Mar Ram
I dont know about everyone else but after the trades and the majority of relevant picks done and dusted. I'm loave to admit it but i think the Seahawks did more overall to improve there team, just behind the rams improvment.

The seahwaks drafted Okung, Earl Thomas & Golden Tate while trading for Washington / Len Dale White

The 49'ers are going smash-mouth again through the draft but have the weakest QB stable in the NFC West.

So my power ranking would be at this point

                                #1 Cardinals (previously #1)
                                #2 Seahawks (previously #3)
                                #3 49'ers (previously #2)
                                #4 Rams (previously #4)

Although the Rams have closed the gap, i cant see them getting a better record than the rest ... Seahawks and 49'ers are interchangeable but both have closed to within breathing distance of the Cardinals.

Summary, the bottom teams are getting better and the top teams is falling down should mean a interesting year in the NFC West.

Sam "Ram" Bradford everyone. Get on the train and see him carry us to NFC West glory .. in 2011.

Our Rams are the favourite to take the division next year. We are the only team with a good QB (soon to be pro bowler).

How do you guys feel about the Seahawks and Cardinals battling it out for Kevin Kolb, or Marc Bulger?

I still think we would be the favourites due to our major success in our past few drafts. Kolb strikes me as the type of guy to do good one game and bad the next. Not too sure on how I feel about him ending up playing for the Cardinals. If they were to trade a first, I'd love it. I think he will be no better than Charlie Whitehurst, which obviously isn't good. The NFC West is up for grabs right now and we have to seize our chances.

Let's face it none of the other 3 teams in our Division are powerhouses. Unfortunately we have "probably" fallen to far behind for the Divison Title this season. We do have an opportunity in front of us to go on a very possible winning streak. Maybe get to 4-8 and hope that our Division foes (Cardinals & Seahawks) lose a game here or there that we don't expect.

                                NFC WEST STANDINGS
                                Seahawks (5-4)
