This is July? After overnight rain, the team was greeted by cloudy skies and brisk temperatures when it hit the fields Friday morning.

Today's schedule: Practices are scheduled for 8:10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Times are subject to change. For up-to-date practice information, call toll-free 1-866-726-7226. Practices are free and open to the public.

Hit of the day: During live 11-on-11 drills, rookie S Jason Shivers leveled RB Adam Matthews in his tracks behind the line of scrimmage.

Coach Mike Martz kept the team on the field, in full pads, for 2 hours 20 minutes, the longest practice of camp so far.

Two Rams had surgery: RB Lamar Gordon (ankle) in St. Louis and DT Jimmy Kennedy (foot) in North Carolina. Gordon is expected to be out about a month. Kennedy's recovery is estimated at three months.

"I enjoy the enthusiasm he brings to the game. He explains it to you in ways that I understand. I think he is only going to make the linebacking corps that much better."

“Each year we will explore all options for training camp.” said Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo. “This year we feel it is in the best interest of our football team to conduct training camp at Russell Training Center.”

I guess I'll be spending some time in Earth City soon.
