  • Rams let one slip through?

Richard Angulo the 7th round TE the Rams drafted in 2003 looks like he will easily make the Vikings roster. The team is very impressed with the kid's 6'8" frame and catching ablility. It has been reported, here in Minnesota, that the kid will see a lot of playing time in the 2 TE sets, and will allow the team to line up Kleinsasser at H-Back.

With the Rams being short at TE postion this would have been a nice keep for them.

Bowen, Allen, Bullard, Shanle, & now Angulo. I really wish we wouldn't be so quick to cut bait on some of these kids. Bowen is already a starter, some of the others may become starters in the league. It's frustrating to say the least.

I think it's all according to need at the time, and development. Angulo didn't look real good last year, so why keep him on the roster when secondary help was much needed last year?

It's a crap shoot with guys who are tweeners every year.

Still wish we kept Shanle. I thought he could turn into the kind of LB we want.

You're right. The more player analysis is done, the more it looks like a guessing game. Oh well, I guess we've won our share of those crap shoots as well...Tercero, Massey, Butler, Looker, Bulger.

It's the nature of the beast in the NFL. I'm sure every team has ooopsies. How great would it be for Flowers to prove he's a first rounder then the Bills would have let one go. Don't look at the past, look at the future.

The problem is the more often the FO fails to cultivate from within its own, the less likely it will inspire people to believe it can judge who isn't a brain cramp from others. But optimism burns eternal.

Again, I think you have to look at why he was released. Angulo was waived with the intention of being put on the practice squad because guys like Tercero and King -- who seem to be competing for a starting guard spot right now for us, at least until Nutten returned -- were in danger of being signed by other teams. I don't think the Rams ever released Angulo because, as some seem to imply in this thread, the Rams didn't recognize his talent or thought he sucked. But they probably just thought the idea of losing King or Tercero was worse than the idea of losing Angulo. As of right now, I have to agree with them.
