Re: Douglas Released??
I wouldn't. He could (and by that I mean possibly) start at RDE for us, but Fisher will give us more value. Between Fisher, Flowers & Hargrove we already have our future RDE on the roster. I think Douglas would be an expensive roll of the dice. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Re: Douglas Released??
just curious as to why you think he would be such a huge help to the defense? he only had 3.5 sacks last year and was horrible. he wasnt any better this year in preseason. is it just because he was good a couple of years ago in philly?
if we get no help on the OL, id rather us go for LB and CB depth before getting a DE like hugh.

Re: Douglas Released??
One year deal worth slightly more than the league minimum, I believe.
EDIT: From PFT.com, "Douglas will receive a $150,000 signing bonus and a base salary of $700,000. Incentives based on sacks and making the Pro Bowl account for up to a total of $2.55 million additional money, enabling Douglas to earn up to $3.4 million if he has a monster year in Philly. Specifically, Douglas will get $150,000 if he has six sacks, another $700,000 if he has 10 sacks, and another $800,000 with at least 12 sacks. He gets $150,000 if he leads the team in sacks, and $800,000 if he gets back to the Pro Bowl."Last edited by Nick; -08-31-2004, 08:47 AM.

by tomahawk247Renaldo Wynn is to be released along with a whole host of Redskin players. He could be a very solid starter opposite Leonard Little, and he played very well for Washington last year. He might be quite cheap as well.

by ZigZagRamIt looks like R.W. McQuarters might be cut from the Chicago Bears. If he comes at a good price I think he could be a very valuable addition to the secondary and special teams.
Not only is this guy a good cornerback (possibly better than Fisher and Butler), but he could also play free safety for us. He's also give us a legitimate kick returner.
I'd love to see this guy in the horns. This signing would remind me of the Aeneas signing.
Your thoughts?-

by adarian_tooOK. Releasing KW "saves money." It became obvious over time that the FO woulldn't support bringing back KW. Well, what is up with the fact that Jamie Duncan hasn't been released?
It is after June 1st, so the salary cap isn't an issue. Duncan had his 2nd chance last year. It should be "obvious" too that Duncan has been dead weight. If the FO thinks depth is an issue, then they can go out and get Trotter or Gilden.
In fact, despite the big contract, Trotter's didn't have much of an off year last year. He had 115 solos/assisted tackles. (His high is only 122, 120, & 115 with Phil). He had 2 forced fumbles which equaled his career high. And he had 1 interception which equalled or exceeded four of his 6 seasons.
This "obviously" would help the Rams at LB even if Duncan isn't released - which frankly boggles the mind why it hasn't happened yet. Trotter's release puts him in poorer bargaining position then when he originally signed with Wash. so salary cap issues should be navigatable.
Snyder didn't know what he was doing in acquiring Candidate and he also, I submit, didn't know what he was doing in releasing Trotter.
I'd like a really cogent reason from the FO why they don't release Duncan and pick up Trotter.-
