  • Putting up the new pennant wheels...

Preparations for the game next sunday are well under way in my house. I just spent the last 5 hours rearranging my rams pennant wheels. I have not made any changes since the end of last season and have been acquiring pennants like a madman, including my first cleveland rams pennant.

I now have over 100 different, but wall capacity in the pennant room for 80 (5 full wheels at 16 per wheel). I will soon need to use the ceiling for another wheel. I have three wheels redone, and by the end of tonight, the last two wheels will be up. This may take all night, but i wont be able to sleep until it is ready to go.

If i only had the technology skills to post the pictures, i think you guys would really like the way it looks when its done.

Re: Putting up the new pennant wheels...

I am going to ask my friend with some technology skills if he can figure out how to do that. The cleveland rams pennant is very old and very very rare, but not really the coolest one. They get a lot more elaborate in the 50's. With a couple of exceptions, the ones in the 40's are reasonably plain. One of these days i will get it figured out and get the wheels up on the board!

            Harlem Globetrotters
            by general counsel
I am taking my kids to see the globetrotters this weekend. They loved it last year. The act hasnt changed in 30 years, but it still works great. The music is more hip hop than in the past, but the tricks are the same.

Anyone else take their kids to see the trotters?

Excellent animated film, take the kids. The first third of the movie is fantastic. Once they leave new york city, the rest is still very entertaining with some good adult references.

Utterblitz and the anti bagel brigade
            by general counsel
Utter, please provide some additional background on your apparant vehement dislike of bagels. Have you ever had a real new york bagel? Do you dislike all fish or just smoked fish? Did you have a specific bad experience with a bagel? Any particular type of bagel?

Do you dislike all bread products, or just bagels? Inquiring minds want to know, especially at this point in the offseason.

            food trivia-pastrami sandwiches
            by general counsel
For all of you lovers of deli sandwiches out there, especially new york style. Katz Deli, one of the most famous and oldest new york delis, is known world wide for its corned beef and pastrami sandwiches. Each sandwich is about 1 pound of meat. Katz's deli is also known for the infamous scene in when harry met sally where meg ryan simulates an orgasm in public, which occurs in the deli.

            1) How many pastrami sandwiches does Katz's sell a day
            2) Do they sell more corned beef or pastrami and by what margain

While i eat red meat only once or twice a year, at least once every 18 months i consume the triple meat platter at katz's, which is about 3 pounds of meat. I get corned beef, tongue and pastrami, with plenty of sour pickles on the side and usually at least one hot dog with plenty of saurkraut. Given how little meat i eat and what a shock to the system this treat is, I have about 14 minutes from the time i stop eating until the time I explode internally, and thus, i must take a fast cab ride back to my hotel rather than walk, since five years ago i tried to walk it off and had a very unpleasant deposit in my pants by the time i returned to the hotel.
