  • Steven Jackson on Sirius Radio

    The summary...

-In preseason, his goal was to come out and play hard and prove to the staff that he was deserving of his spot on the team.

-The coaching staff is still working out the gameplan for AZ and how they'll use him, but is coming with the mindset that he'll rotate especially in the latter part of the game to give the Cardinals different looks, and be used as a change-up back. The Rams have talked about some formations with both Faulk and Jackson in the backfield but haven't explored it too much yet.

-It's tough to not be able to count on 20-25 carries because he prides himself as a workhorse. But there's a lot more work off the field than he thought there would be in the pros, including meeting rooms and things like that.

-Pace looked great when he came in, was underweight and was looking good in practice when the ones were against the ones. Pace's return was a morale booster for the team to see Pace in the locker room and even better to see he was ready and in shape when he came in.

-He's ready to take his game to another level and put forth his best effort. Says he's excited about opening weekend, and he's playing against one of his good friends (Fitzgerald) and they talked some trash on the phone.

-It was difficult to watch OSU lose to LSU, and it was misfortunate to lose the game on PATs, and you hate for a freshman kicker to go through that with a whole season left.

You know, I've heard this when they had Trung Canidate, then Lamar Gordon, and now Steven Jackson. Does anyone recall them actually employing any formations like that?

    Underweight? Wow.

That's good stuff. Thanks for the report, Nick.
