  • what gives you the right??

I am curious....and don't mean ANY offense to any person. I really am looking for just reasons and what makes you tick. So if you take things personal...don't read on.

I have been watching this board close the last couple of days and who is here "lurking", reading and who is posting and how long some names stay and check back in. And let me tell you...there are a lot of names that I haven't seen in a long time. There are ones that have posted a few times in the past and then fell off the face of the earth...now you come back? What gives?? Really people....what kind of fan are you?

I just don't get so many people. Do you love the Rams or do you just look for the free ride? Why should any other fan give you respect? For that matter why should the Rams give you respect?

I just don't get it. Maybe it is just me and how passionate I am for this team. Maybe I care too much.

I just find it strange how people can turn it on and off at will.

Re: what gives you the right??

        Not referring to ANYONE.

I am referring to the fan that leaves in the 4th quarter. I am referring to the fan that turns on the Rams game when they are 9 and 2. I am referring to the fan that buys the ticket after the Super Bowl. I am referring to the fan that comes when we make a big free agent signing. I am referring to the fan that comes when we lose just to complain. I am referring the fan that comes to "just get the news"...

I am just trying to understand. Why are Packer, Browns and Cowboy fans so die hard?? Why are Ram fans like Viking fans?? Why can't we be like them??

Maybe being a "fan" is not the right word for you....maybe we need to come up with a new word for the fan that is looking for a free ride. Something like "freeloader" or "spoiled". Makes me wonder how successful you are at other things. Like relationships or your job or managing time. Too me it all goes hand in hand. Either you are or you aren't ...there is no middle ground.

The Rams are truly in my blood, as I believe they are in many of you. I can't turn it off, ever. I can't turn the games off, ever ...

On my recent "vacation" I had from the board, I was absolutely miserable not being able to post. I love being here ...

A really great post, and I feel the same way. I don't understand how people just come and go if they don't have reasons, such as being away with work or personal issues ...

I try to absorb as much Rams as I can. This site is alot of it ...

I live in Alabama, I have a PSL, I can't make many games, and I lose money on tickets. Maybe I'm stupid, but I am proud to be a PSL holder, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE going to games at the EJD ...

Amazing how the season ends, we get a new coach, new hope, and many, MANY, new members appear, isn't it?

With Spags aboard, looks like a bigger bandwagoner than ever ...

Oh well, let it fill I guess, but when you feel like your opinions aren't heard, or people don't care about you, don't seem surprised ....

I would like to post more but more and more I keep seeing the same old sorry ass whining and how to fix this team. This season really left me at a loss for words and i didnt know how to respond to all the trouble my team was going thru. I managed to go to 4 games out of the 10 they play in the lou. I know you have the right to call me out cause we live in america but geez. I see no point in calling me out just cause I dont post. Why post when what you are feeling has already been said?

Think of something creative to post, anything. People like to hear different things. You don't always think inside the box. Talk about your experiences as a Ram's fan. Analyze players. Talk about anything ...

As this poster stated, there are many times that I do not post about the Rams as what I might say has been said....or some of the discussion doesn't peak my interest to participate.

Me, I check the site several times a day, when I am near a puter. Sometimes I even check in anonymously if on someone else's puter just to see if there is something I would like to share/know but will wait until I am on my PC before replying.

I can go several days at times before contributing anything worthwhile (but that won't stop me from interrupting with inane comments).

I cannot help but keep an eye on things though. I am addicted, hooked on the horns for life.

Not to attack anyone, but can a person's fanhood really be measured by how much time they spend, or how many posts they write on a message board? It just seems like there are other ways to measure something like that.

We might as well make a poll about how long each person stays on this site per day. 1 minute to 1 hour, 1 hour to 2 hours, etc.

Joking aside, once you are a fan of a team, you're hooked. You can't switch to another team. It's just not the same. I can go burn my Rams jerseys right now, drive to the mall, and buy a Cowboys hat, slap it on my head, and say I like the Cowboys. But I could never call myself a Cowboy's fan. You're only a fan of one NFL team.

I debated with myself if I should post this. Surely some of the so called "fans" that have given up on the Rams will have some sort of witty reply. However, I've felt an overwhelming urge to post something.

The Rams are in a sorry state right now. The front office is making bad decisions, the coach doesn't seem up to the job, our defense is unable to hold it together for an entire game, and our front line isn't protecting the Q-Back making him nervous and unable to find a rhythm.

A lot is wrong. But what is right is that the Rams are my team, and for a lot of you on this board, your team as well. Fans have the right to complain and want something better, but a fan should also stick with them and look at the positives no matter how few there seem to be at this particular moment. Contrary to a lot of you, based on the posts I've been reading, I could reluctantly accept another terrible season and another after that and another after that. No, I don't like the abuse and I do want something more, but I stick by my team no matter the outcome.

I don't expect everyone to feel the same way and I know that everyone reacts differently. But what I see, as bad as things seem, is a slight improvement from week 1 to week 2. This is what keeps me going. And I do think the team looked slightly better this week. Even if they play even worse next week, I'll still be here and still be a fan, because there is always hope. And when a team is down, this is what makes a fan. And the true test of a fan at that.

People with different opinions are welcome on this board is far as I'm concerned. That is what sparks good debate and what could help me something that I wouldn't see otherwise. But when someone becomes so negative that the only thing that comes out of their mouth (fingers?) is down right hatred and they are only sticking around here to spread that hatred. And by their own admission, are no longer a fan and unwilling to follow the team. Well, that's your decision and I support it, but why do you stick around here and continue posting such garbage? Do you feel a need to try and convince more people to join your Anti-Rams social club?

I applaud the fans that are sticking behind their team in these bad times. I even applaud the unhappy ones that are overwhelmed with anger, but still hold out a glimmer of hope and remain a fan.

Even more so, to the Rams themselves (not that they are listening), but I support you 100%, even in this bad time. You are my team and I stand behind you, just as I would a member of my family. Good times and bad.

                                by NJ Ramsfan1
There are no two words guaranteed to stir the pot and enrage followers of a certain team like the words "True Fan". When one's loyalty is questioned or someone accuses someone else of being "less a fan" because they don't agree with them on a variety of issues, it is the equivalent of hitting below the belt. When phrases like "See Ya", "Don't let the Door hit you in the ***", Goodbye and Good Riddance" are thrown about, it is both insulting and juvenile.

I submit to you the following scenarios:

                                1. A guy decides to avoid being a slave to the television each Sunday and do something constructive instead of watching bad football. He chooses to play with his kids, do yard work, go to the gym or whatever. Can he no longer call himself a Rams fan?
                                2. A guy decides to cancel his NFL ticket package because he doesn't want to pay good money for the "privilege" of being ticked off during Rams football in light of their 6 wins over the past three seasons. Is he no longer a true fan?
                                3. A guy with Rams season tickets decides to give his tickets away/ sell at a reduced rate and not go to the games. Is he no longer a "True Rams Fan"?
                                4. A guy pays $100.00 to go see the Rams on the road. The team is down 38-0 AT THE HALF. He elects to go home with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter to resist the urge of killing idiot home fans while watching a non-effort. Is he no longer a true fan? (By the way, this was me at last yrs. Rams-Jets disaster- the worst football game this franchise has ever played).
                                5. Absolutely sick to death from losing and not having anything to cheer about, a fan rips the team and/or individual players/management on this forum or elsewhere. He is more negative than positive because there is much more negative than positive happening on the field, and it is his way to vent. Is he now considered less of a fan?

I'm sorry, but in my opinion, if you answered anything other than "NO" to any of the above, you have it wrong. As far as I'm concerned, everyone on this board is a true fan for coming on here and commenting on this weekly gut ache called Rams football.

                                Wondering what you think-

I know I will get Heat for this but I am a Patriots fan first and foremost. I am from NJ but I have allot of friends from Boston and Mass in general. I have been a Pats fan for the last 10 years, I am now 17 and would like to announce that I am a closet Rams fan. I think you (Die-Hards) have a nice young squad and with Spags at the reigns I think you will see just how much of a Defensive Genius he really is. I am just along for the ride and I hope you have a great season. As you can see Chris Long is my favorite Ram, I worked out with him once he is a great guy and a fantastic player. Bring on the Heat!

Met a guy the other day wearing a Ram's shirt. Commented on it & he replied that it was the only clean one in his closet or he'd have worn something else. When I questioned him he said he didn't want to even talk about "THEM". Asked why, he replied they had let him down cruelly & he would be a long time getting over it. Couldn't figure out how, as Conference champs they had let anyone down & said so! And then the truth came out after much spluttering, "Besides, I lost 500 bucks on them!!!" Now, my question is: Is this a Rams fan & if there are any more like him out there can we send them to LA with a one- way ticket on a leaky boat??????? If you're not a fan when they lose, you're not a fan!

I know times are hard, but lately, things are getting a tad bit tedious around here. The problem is, there are too many posters who can't distinguish between cliche and actual insight. Seriously, if I want to read hackneyed, knee-jerk reactions masquerading as analysis, I'll read a Bernie column.

So... to borrow from Jeff Foxworthy, here's my list titled...

You might be a boring Rams fan.

If you think posts that communicate nothing more than "Bulger sucks" are insightful... you might be a boring Rams fan.

If you think that you can diagnose Steven Jackson and label him "soft"... you might be a boring Rams fan.

If you are more interested in Kurt Warner's stats than the Rams' results... you might be a boring Rams fan.

If you are still talking about the Rams moving back to Los Angeles... you might be a boring Rams fan.

If you can't tell the difference between overall poor drafting and labeling every pick made by the Rams a "bust"... you might be a boring Rams fan.

Oh... and if you think Tim Tebow is the solution to the Rams' problems... you might be a boring Rams fan, an insufferable Gator fan, and a redneck.
