  • Help please, views from Row 1 at the game

Hi everyone, i have come out of my mourning period following the loss to the falcons. Still very dissapointed, but at least able to talk about it.

One big question for the board. From my seats in row one behind the rams bench, it seemed like the key play in the game was the non interception by butler on the throw to crumpler with 2 minutes left in the third quarter. We had all the momentum, the crowd was quiet, we had just tied the score and if he makes that pick, we have the ball in their territory and are going ahead.

I dont want to be too critical since i didnt see a replay. For my vantage point, and believe me this happened about 25 feet in front of me, i thought it was in butlers hands for the pick. At the minimum, i have no idea how he didnt knock it down.

Did i not see this correctly?

Behind ten feet from the team was absolutely amazing and takes a lot of sting out of the losses. I was screaming bloody murder, and got several waves and nods of encouragement. Landetta came over and said hi to my daughter. Pace, holt, bruce, bulger, mamliamula, chillar, looker, even faulk acknowledged me screaming for them. When little went on to the injury table, which was directly underneath me, i shouted encouragement and he winked at me and gave me the thumbs up.

Martz was on mamliamulas case several times. Very vocally i might add. I think dishmans stomach has its own area code.

As for the game, we must tackle better, which has been a problem for years. Huge miss by archuletta in the first quarter on the big play. Vick aside, bottom line defensively to me is that we are the same as we were last year, but we are not making any big plays, ie getting turnovers.

something that everyone is missing is VICK.

The guy is a superman, lets just remember that. That was the big difference between these teams.

If you took Vick out of the picture, we would have won that game easy. and thats my view from the chattanooga choo choo bar

I agree Vick had a great game, but we should have known that he was a stud coming in. We needed to have a game plan to contain him. Again that falls on Marmie. What team doesn't play the Falcons that don't have a plan to stop Vick, this is common knowledge and the Rams failed, not Vick succeeded.

Let's not underestimate what Vick can do, guys. In 2002 he went to Lambeau and won there, the first to do that against Favre in God knows how long. The Falcons were pathetic last year without Vick, but when he came back for his first start of the season, they went 3-1.

Some angry Rams fans apparently think that if you put a spy on Vick, the problem's solved. Well, it's not exactly that easy. On multiple runs we had players that were in position to make a stop but Vick made the defensive pursuit look like pop warner football. It's hard to get a good angle on this guy. This isn't Madden 2005 where you can just call a QB spy play and contain him automatically.

Well put Nick. Vick fakes players out their shoes for a living and leaves them in his dust. We saw it happen all day long Sunday. He was the difference...a variable thats hard to account for.

                  Go Rams!!!

I'm also coming out of my mourning period. I usually like to wait a little while to let the board cool down before really saying much.

How the hell did you get Manumaleuna's attention? I can't imagine really being able to scream out his name effectively. Sounds like an awesome experience, GC - I can't wait to finally see the Rams in person some day.

As far as Michael Vick goes, I gotta go with Jason here - I don't know why everyone is making excuses for the Rams just because of Vick. Yeah, it's Vick, but you KNOW he's coming, so you'd better find a way to beat him. Hell, the Niners made him look average in week one. Maybe he was just in the zone Sunday, I don't know, but there has to be some kind of game plan to contain him, and it didn't look like the Rams had one. Put a spy on him, put two spies on him, at least keep a freakin' eye on him, do something. Using one player on the Falcons as an excuse for a loss is weak. He beat the Packers in the playoffs at Lambeau Field. So what. What if we're next? We can't just ignore the problem.

I have to agree with that, too. Zero takeaways in two games is pathetic. What this all comes down to is coaching, and so far, Marmie isn't doing his job.

Thanks for the game report general counsel. They were loud in that stadium and you must be pretty loud too. I'll bet the players appreciated some Ram fans being there.
