  • Avery Back vs. Chiefs?

According to Van Ram article on Turf says should be clear to play vs. Chiefs makes it a less than 4 week injury. He is currently running full speed!

I say they should let him play. Looks like we could be having great competition at the WR position. This is exciting and encouraging.

Looks like we might have us a little shootout vs. the Squawks week 1. ;)

Not sure how VanRam would know that, given that he's merely a blogger. Does he cite a source?

I doubt he'd play during the Chiefs game anyway, considering that the 4th game typically doesn't use the starters much if at all. With the risk of him re-injuring his foot, I figure that they'd give him the week off and let him come back for week one. That'd be great if he was already running full speed though!
      I believe!:ram:

          Re: Avery Back vs. Chiefs?

The Post says he's running at full speed and making some cuts.

JMO but I don't see the point of playing in the game with a backup QB if it could set him back at all. Why not just let him heal for the Seahawks? Seems like pure speculation.

I've also read where is he back to running full speed and looking good.
I would have loved for him to get time, but I also don't want him rushing himself back from injury. Maybe just a few snaps (assuming he is able to) just to get a feel, and that's it.

I dont hope to see him anymore this preseason..Better to stay off the foot and get some reps, and like Bulger says "mental reps" lol, at practice and watch the team from the sidelines rather than risk him re-injuring again.

Looks like we have a rising in Robinson, plus i'd rather the battle ensue between Burton, Stanley, Curry etc. for the 3rd WR & so on, so the reps will be good for them.

I don't think he should play this preseason. Let him come back during weekend one if he's ready.

                  Re: Avery Back vs. Chiefs?

i don't see the point in rushing him back onto the field.. sit him the rest of the preseason cause marc is out and therefore people saying donnie needs to get his timing down is irrelevant cause marc is our starter and he needs to throw to donnie.. glad he is gettin better, but to play him in a meaningless exhibition game would be silly.

I hope he doesn't play, we need him for the season. Let that foot totally heal!

Turf Showtimes is just an internet blog. That guy doesn't have any inside information.

Besides, even if it is true, I think they should rest Avery until the regular season. Why risk re-injuring him?

Let him sit out the last pre-season game. Let the young unknown receivers play, and let them show us what they got.

I'd prefer he not play. A stress fracture needs time....nothing more, nothing less. Play through it at the end of the year and then recoup the offseason. But don't play through it in the preseason, and then get seriously hurt during the season!
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Clearly it's imperative that Spags read this thread before making any decision on Avery's availability against the Chiefs ..

It looks like NFL network will be showing the battle for the Governers Cup on Friday 8/31 at 11:00 am central time. I guess Sopcast is the only live option for us out of towners. Any other ideas would be nice.

                                by PatBR
As of right now the betters are looking at a Rams vs. Chiefs matchup.
                                What's everyone's thoughts?
I think that the Bengals have a chance at an upset in Kansas City and were due a shocker. I didn't think the Rams beating Brady and the Bucs was one, as the Rams took them earlier in the season
and as it seemed the Rams had their number.
So I'm going to say Cinci takes the Chief's in a close one and we see a Rams vs Bengals Super Bowl.

                                Avery vs. Jackson revisited...

Cannot stress this enough, but I believe we made a horrible miscalculation in selecting Avery over Jackson. Avery can turn it around but he has had a miserable sophmore year to say the least.

I didn't see one so I started one.

How was that for an opening drive?
