  • Ordered my custom jersey!

Here's what it will look like:

Decided to go with #49 in honor of Rod Perry.

    The reason(s)?

Well, the first time I played any kind of organized football, I was a CB and Rod Perry was the guy I pretended to be (and, of course, Perry was #49).

Also, in terms of "moments frozen in time," Rod Perry's near miss of the ball on Stallworth's TD in the Steelers Super Bowl is etched in my memory (in part, due to the famous SI cover). Despite the loss, my status as a proud Rams fan was set in stone after that season, and I've been looking for the Rams to "Avenge" that loss since (which they did, to an extent, in 1999).

The final reason is practical: NO CHANCE THAT MY JERSEY WILL BECOME OUTDATED (i.e. my Bruce and Holt jerseys!).

I'll be wearing the new jersey proudly on Opening Day!

    Getting psyched!

Nice one... And good reason too. I get someones rook jersey every year.

This year it"s got to be James L... I have to say, I also have few rookie bust jerseys in my

closet, witch shows I cant draft them right ether.

Glad you're fired up and ready to go, Avenger.

I am very anal about jerseys and have a few personal rules of thumb I follow. I own about 10 jerseys. Of course this is all very much personal preference, and some may disagree with me- I don't wish to offend!

      1. I'm not a fan of the gold uniform top- too much of a departure from the original; I've barely managed to get over them changing from the old blue and yellow colors; They really screwed up a good thing when they did this, as I've always felt the Rams had the coolest uniforms over the years.

      2. I do not wear a player's jersey unless he establishes himself by having a couple of solid years worth of production- hence no Laurinitis jersey, Chris Long or anyone else who hasn't yet proven themselves.

      3. Never, ever wear colors that don't match up with the original colors that player wore - thus no Jack Youngblood jerseys in the current color scheme, and vice versa.

      4. Unless you are a special personality (like Avenger) or the President receiving a Super Bowl souvenir, no wearing your own last name on the back of an authentic jersey.

      5. Never wear the jersey the day after a loss. This goes back to my school days when I did just that and paid dearly for it, since everyone knew I loved the Rams and relentlessly busted my balls. Wear it proudly ANY OTHER day, but not that one!!

I found this one interesting because it is a total 180 from what I feel. I have one general rule when buying jerseys.

Never buy a jersey with a name other than mine. Why? In this day and age of sports (with free agency and crazy money) players come and they go. Nothing dumber looking to me, than a guy wearing a jersey (for example) of an ex-player (such as Holt, Warner, Bruce, Dickerson....etc, etc...) on the back of a jersey and he's playing for someone else! ...and these days, nothing is sacred. Players just want owners to "show them the money", and there's just no quarentee that the player that I just shelled out major bucks for, will be around next season, and I'm left holding the bag. ...or should I say jersey. Screw that. With my name on the back, I'll NEVER have that issue. I can wear it forever.

That being said, I currently have two jerseys. The old blue and gold jersey home jersey with the #13 on it, in honor of Mr. Warner. But...I removed his name. The other is a (new colors and logos) away jersey with MY last name on it.

Oh, and by-the-way.... Av, I like your jersey.

Especially since it has YOUR name on it. The screen name thing was a pretty good idea. I wonder how "RanfanRaiderhater" would fit on the back of one?

Av, I love the jersey, especially because you went with the gold. I'll be sporting my gold Long jersey at the bash this year!

av, the gold uniform was the right choice it looks good and flashy.
very good point ramfanraiderhater it does suck having a jersey and have him play for another team, i had a bruce and holt jersey now they just collect dust in my closet. so my next jeresy will be one with my name on the back.

                Disagree on two points....

First, I have my name on the back of an authentic jersey. I've been a Rams fan for 40+ years - I feel I have that privelege.

Second, the day after a loss isn't taboo for me to wear anything Rams. In fact, it is probably one of the top days to wear Rams stuff. No bandwagon accusations at me....wear the stuff win or lose.

Our division manager from STL was in a couple of months ago and was admiring the Rams shrine (my office)....lol.

I'm going to have to disagree with you, I have a few jerseys, and the one I wear the most is my authentic Warner. I don't care who he plays for he will always be my favorite player who took the Rams out of obscurity to the Greates Show on Turf.

                          Re: Ordered my custom jersey!

I have a RAMPOWER jersey and a GRAHAM jersey. The rampower jersey I have had for about 5 years and worn a lot more than any other jersey I have ever owned so its was worth the cash. The GRAHAM jersey I got for when I got married last year to celebrate my wife joining CLAN GRAHAM. She got a matching bengals jersey made as she is a benglas fan. I hate buying a players name jersey for them to leave, and I wont leave the Rams till I leave this planet, hence my name is as worthy as any other in my eyes, if not more so. I pay to wear the jersey, rather than get paid to. In that way we are all eligable Rams and our names are worthy of the jersey.

Anyways AV, thats an awesome jersey and one very fitting and its always extra good if there is a story with it, as there is with 49. Great stuff buddy, see you in it on saturday night at the bash.

You think the good people of St. Louis will know who #49 was or remember that he played for the Rams in a super Bowl?

NJ I totally respect your thoughts on this, but I must say
I broke these two rules together. I got Youngbloods number with my name on the new jersey. 85 because he represents to me all that is right with the Rams, never surrender, even with a broken leg. Besides I don't think they made custom jersey's when he was playing (not that I could afford it then) and I am not sure you can get them in the old version now.

And similar to RFRH, why not my name? Jack didn't offer to pay for my jersey! Seriously, to me it represents to me that as a fan I consider myself part of the team, in some small way anyway.

But I have to share this , the funniest custom jerseys I have seen, and they were real custom jerseys, was two Cardinal jerseys in Phoenix. One said "Your Name" and the other said "Any Name"...I was rolling when I saw those two!
"The disappointment of losing is huge!"

I'm a Senior in high school, every week on friday i wear my rams jersey either Holt Bulger or Jackson. And i still did even though they were 0-8 and they would say THE RAMS SUCK! etc.. I would just ignore them and say at least im not wearing a steelers jersey ( Half the school wears steelers jersey many of them for the first time in their life ). Im gonna keep wearing them showing my support especially the week they play the steelers, and if they lose i'll still wear it! Does anyone still wear their rams jersey supporting the rams? I seen one guy at wal-mart wear theirs and its great to see Rams fan showing support!

If you could have any Ram's Jersey...

I have a buddy that just came back from a trip to Korea. One of the things he brought back was an "authentic" Cowboys jersey he bought for $15. I know it is not exactly what you would pay $200 for from NFL.COM, but it was the same heavy material, colors, emblems, patches, and all.

He is planning another trip there within the next month and I am thinking of getting a couple new jerseys. I figure I will go with someone current for one jersey. I already have an authentic Faulk, and replica's of Arch, Jackson, and Warner. I am thinking either Holt, Bruce, or Bulgar.

For the second jersey, I was thinking of a throwback. So, my question is, if you could have any Ram's jersey throughout history, which would it be?

I became a fan of the Ram's in the mid-seventies, so the names of Haden, Youngblood, Deacon, Dickerson all come to mind. But who do you think is that one person that symbolizes the Ram's?

After many years of buying various jerseys of Rams players, I find I have many in my closet that don't play for us anymore. I even have a Lawrence Phillips jersey - if you can believe that!

What is your take on buying jerseys of specific players? What makes you decide on what jersey to buy?

Personally, I have decided to only get great players from the past or jerseys that have my name on the back.
