Seeing all these wasted draft picks is depressing...Oh well, at least their somebody else's problem now.

Yes drafting him at the time made a great deal of sense, but things did not work out, hopefully he'll catch on somewhere else.

yeah at the time, drafting Klop did make a lot of sense
    it just didnt pan out

what didnt make sense was drafting Byrd, and also that deal in the first round where we missed out on Ngata and Cutler to get Hill and Wroten is just down right terrible in hindsight

As fun as it is to kick a guy on his way out the door, I still maintain that Klopfenstein, at the time he was drafted, made quite a bit of sense. The Rams had a big need at tight end (so much so that some wanted to see the Rams draft Vernon Davis in the first round), and the mediocre-at-best Manumaleuna wasn't exactly displaying a great work ethic by skipping offseason workouts.

I believe Klop's rookie numbers as a tight end were just as good as any other rookie tight end from that class. I think he simply lost confidence when the Rams turned around and gave his job to Randy McMichael, and he's not been the same since. I hope he can sign somewhere else and catch on in some kind of role.

No doubt about it. Were lucky ANYTHING can be salvaged from that disaster of a draft.

    Aww...say it ain't so, Joe!!

Hmmm...much like the Tye Hill scenario: Klop is beat out by an undrafted FA (D. Fells) and a 7th rounder (B. Bajema) who was also a FA.

Maybe Joe can join with Hill in the self-esteem counseling sessions. If they go in together they just might qualify for a group discount.

    WHAT SAY YE?

Has to be one of the single worst drafts in a long time.. it's good to see Spags is trying to clean up the mess left behind by Linehan and his cohorts. That regime has probably set this franchise back about 5 or 6 years with its pathetic drafting and free-agent busts.

If Vet TE available - would you cut Byrd
    by ramhard
There seems to be a lot of vet TE's floating around. Tampa Bay just picked up Jolley and might cut someone like Brecht (could but not likely). If a vet TE is available after cuts, do you sign one since the Rams have no vet TE's, and hope Byrd makes it through waivers to the practice squad (and admitting a bit that trading up to draft Byrd was probably a mistake)? Or do you stick with the hand you chose?

for the millionth time, klop couldnt block a pregnant woman in a phone booth. What kind of IDIOT has klop man blocking on demetrius ware? Is he trying to get bulger killed? Is it play calling or scheme, i dont care anymore, but i will tell you that at this point, i am dramatically underwhelmed with klop as a 2nd round pick.

Its a joke that bulger is in this game at this point. Bring in gus and pray he survives.

    byrd cut
    by ramsplaya16
ght end Dominique Byrdís troubled stay with the Rams came to an end when he was released Monday, a day after team officials emphasized how strong a role character played in their draft choices over the weekend.
Byrd, 6 feet 2 and 254 pounds, was a third-round draft choice (No. 93 overall) in 2006 out of the University of Southern California. He saw action in 14 games, with no starts, over two seasons, most of it on special teams. He caught six passes for 73 yards and one touchdown.

Byrd is facing trial next week in St. Louis Circuit Court on charges of assault and armed criminal action stemming from a nightclub scuffle downtown in December 2006. This past October, he pled no contest and received three yearsí probation on DUI charges in California in March 2007.

Coach Scott Linehan declined to comment on Byrdís release.

Trial date set for Rams tight end Byrd
    by RamFan_Til_I_Die
    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Backup tight end Dominique Byrd of the St. Louis Rams will go to trial July 9 after pleading not guilty Friday to charges that he assaulted a man at a downtown St. Louis nightclub.

Byrd, 23, faces charges of assault and armed criminal action.

The incident happened in December at the Pepper Lounge. Byrd was accused of hitting a bar patron in the face with a drinking glass. His lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, has said the allegations are unwarranted.

A 30-year-old man was treated for cuts to the face after allegedly being struck by Byrd, police said. Byrd was cut on his right hand but declined treatment.

Byrd, 23, played in just five games in 2006, his rookie season with the Rams. He caught two passes for 39 yards and one touchdown.

Byrd was a third-round pick out of Southern California in the April 2006 draft.

I want him to start over klopfenstein, He looked great his entire career at USC, but got over looked by guys because of leinart, bush, white, and the rest of that O. I really liked what I saw during his career. When He gets his shot I am most sure that he will take full adnatage of it.
