A bit surprised at T. Johnson's release.Thought he still had value on STs,at least.

The biggest surprises to me, though, are some of the guys that seem to have stuck; Nat Jones? Freakin' Roach?! Ugh...

Hmm, I'm surprised that Nate Jones made the squad at wide receiver over Curry or Carter. He only had 3 receptions in the preseason. Hopefully, the team's willingness to part with Todd Johnson is a sign of their confidence in Dahl and Roach. There are a whole lot of late round picks and UDFAs in key backup roles across the defense, which either means we've found a bunch of untapped talent or our depth is really, really thin.

Given that both Johnson and Roach tend to give up big plays in coverage(or lack thereof), I don't know if there was a good choice to be had between the two of them, other than that Johnson's proven on ST. Youth won out apparently.

As for the receiver battle, it seems that youth and a potentially higher ceiling won out there as well, where I thought Curry would have been given the spot over Nate Jones. We're already young at receiver, I figured that it would help if we had an "old hand" as part of the corps as well. Guess it's easier to inactivate a youngin than a vet on a weekly basis.
